I know AAM competition is in Anapolis. They do tuning but I have never been so I don't know how good they are.

from what ive gathered by researching hills garage is the place to go. AAM charges over 1k for an uprev tune, they can go **** themselves. for that I had better get a lifetime unlimited uprev license, 50 dyno pulls, and 10 mechanics working for a week on my car for the best tune thats ever been done to a car on the entire planet. ITS JUST A TUNE, why the F U C K would anyone spend roughly 1/6 of the price of the average turbo charger kit just to sit on a dyno and fiddle with a computer for a bit? what a god damn rip off!!!!! the problem is, people will happily pay it in complete ignorance.

Because shops have to pay rent, pay benefits, maybe retirement, medical insurance, business insurance, utilities, accounting.....I guess you never owned a business. Anyhow you can go to P tuning, I had my Nismo tuned by them when I had Berk cats and Nismo R intake installed. Or go buy the Uprev tuner module and do your own tune by data logging.

I know the process of tuning, but dont know how to tune.....know what I mean? Ive wanted to buy my own for a long long time now, but every time I inquire how to do it, 90% of people just dont know, and the other 10% are reluctant to teach because they ARE the tuners that make bank from all the retards with money. No, I have never owned a business but I can tell you they do quite well for themselves. Ever look at what most of the BIG tuning company owners are driving? one has a full blown race 370, with a ugly "but expensive" porche cayane S SUV to tug it around and a brand new BMW........... yeah im an ENGINEER and I can barely afford to pay for my 370z by itself. so really? if your to blind to see that they are making BANK from the services they provide? you sir are on darwins list. rent, insurance, labor BLAH BLAH BLAH be damned.... with how many they DO they could charge HALF that amount and still make a profit, it might not be a KILLING like they make now, but it would still be a profit. Any shops thats been open for 10-15 years probably has that dyno paid off, all their tuning equipment paid off, pay their employees hourly half or less of what I make. So your driving in, having a guy plug in a laptop and sit on his big fat *** for 2-3 hours playing with numbers as you run the car on the dyno. yeah sounds really tough, got some serious hardcore labor going on there. Problem with it is, its a niche market and they know it. there is no price regulation, they can charge WHATEVER THEY WANT. If it cost 2k, or 3k people would still pay it, simply accepting that "thats just the way it is" out of shear stupidity. God forbid the same government regulations set in place to regulate prices on things like food and general products dont apply to the aftermarket tuning world. Same goes for turbo kits. Anyone stupid enough to believe they ACTUALLY cost 9k to produce overall is an idiot and just needs to look back to the past a little bit. Every car thats brand new to tuning has a initial boom of waring products, all priced to the stars. But 8-10 years down the line, those SAME products "usually bigger companies" are still produced, but all the little fanboys have moved on to the next big fad car on the market...... suddenly that turbo drops from 9k to like 2.5k or less. HMMMMMMMMM so your trying to tell me that they are still willing to produce them at a 7k loss PER KIT? wow....... its all the same **** man, tuning and parts alike there are ZERO regulations on how much they charge. They SAY MSRP on everything, thats ********, they can say whatever they want. Like tommy boy said, "I can take a **** in a box and and mark it guaranteed, but your still getting a guaranteed box of ****" they could charge you 20k for a turbo kit, and if every other turbo kit on the market follows suit..... ITS OK. Im not bashing anyone, im calling it out for what it is. does it mean anything is going to change? no, people are too stupid. Im pretty much just venting.

So what you're saying is that people that have a skill that you don't possess are charging you a ridiculously large amount of money. Sounds like almost every business on the planet. Oh, you can't perform your own heart surgery? Oh, is your AC broken? Oh, can't run those finances on your own? Oh, need a little motivation to get in the gym?

Simply put, complaining here isn't going to make your prices any cheaper. Either you do your research and find the cheapest place. Or learn how to do it yourself. Nobody is dumb for paying a price that someone suggests. ****, there's cheaper, better performing cars than the Z, but what'd you do? Bought a Z. And the Nismo at that! So don't be a hypocrite.

I didnt buy the Z with moding it in mind. I bought it because I liked it. It just became something I wanted to do well after. Its hardly my fault the Z is the worlds most expensive car ever made to mod for absolutely no reason what so ever. I just like the car and am putting up with the ******** that comes with liking it. Regardless of cost was just to get a wider range of options and do the research of cheapest/best after I actually got some answers. Your right, complaining here wont change 5hit, and yes people ARE stupid for paying those prices. But your right, you cant be an expert at everything, but it happens im one of those people who believe in INTRINSIC VALUE. But judging by what you said, you have absolutely no idea what that concept even means. Enjoy being an eternal toolbag, blindly buying without thought. It COULD be changed, but not enough people give a 5hit.

Oh, and bought the nismo so I wouldnt really have to mod it, and exclusivity, I dont like having the same car as 10000 other people just in my state alone. But I will be the bigger man and admit that with this HP war going on right now, it makes me jealous that a complete POS mustang 5.0 can now rape my car. Im just moding the things nissan should have done right the first time, such as the toyota prius exhaust sound, and pussy *** luxury car V6 engine. hell the straight 6 in the old GTR was 10x better than this boat anchor. At least they got the looks down and handling too, sexiest car around. believe it or not, I dont actually even LIKE modding it, I would rather have a car that was right from the factory. But all the other choices are ether: to expensive, ugly as 5hit, garbage build quality. But excel at one or 2 things. This was the best all around choice for every category you can consider while buying a sports car. Im just fixing the flaws, not going all out fa6 fast and furious wanna be.

Just because you own something doesnt mean you HAVE to support, like and defend every god damn thing about it. I dont overlook flaws in something just to be a fanboy. Its a car.

LMAO. You're right! Just because you own something doesn't mean you have to support it. But like I said complaining about everything about the car you just bought is not only idiotic, but pointless. If you don't like it change it. If you can't afford it...shut up and deal with it. The simple fact that you would mention intrinsic value and then complain that "tinkering with a couple numbers" on a computer shouldn't cost so much. When those numbers on that computer they're tinkering on could completely scrap that Nismo you bought if done incorrectly blows my mind. You're absolutely right that it shouldn't cost 2k. But if they're charging 2k in your area, and you can't do it yourself, either you pay 2k or you STOP COMPLAINING!

You were also right in stating that if enough people want to make a change then it can happen. But complaining isn't going to get anyone on your side. You're not putting up with ********, you're ranting and venting to people who can't change it for you. How about instead of name calling and whatever other juvenile tactic you resort to. You come up with a legit business plan or idea to help your cause.

Back to intrinsic value...you bought the Nismo? Ehhh... Ok man. I guess exclusivity made up for the extra hundreds or thousands you overpaid. But once again, that's just my opinion.

meh, I guess your right. fair enough, it is still just an opinion after all right? I mean, it doesnt really matter if im right or not. I am only one person, what could I possibly do, or hope to do to change anything that seems unjust. Boy I wish we had some kind of big community website dedicated to one specific cause where everyone who owns something could go to, share ideas and support one another and make changes in the community. I KNOW! we can make it a car website! about nissan 370z! how about....... the370z.com? that sound good? im in, if anyone else likes that idea. that way we could stand up as a community, together as the main consumer of products the companies are selling NEED to cater to and possibly make a difference. oh wait........

Trust me, I know how expensive it gets. I'm trying to come up with something similar to a group buy, but involving tuning. I just can't come up with a way where it would be a win win for everyone involved.
