TrackDaze | Summit Point | Oct 1-2

First, some pictars. Not many taken this time sadly, but its ok.

(Had mechanical problems later, sadly - barely went out due to the rain)

My 2 friends' cars. Just a late-80's Teggy gutted and about 170ish HP, but he runs almost anyone down like its nobody's business. Other is a 335i, chipped. Talked a lot of trash about how I'd never pass him

Randoms

Rich kids club (all ended up pussing out due to the rain)

I do love M-Coupes

Shockingly, this guy was slow in the straights, but he was hauling *** around the corners...

Lost a lot of video, but here is Day 2, session 3. Plenty of slip-sliding.

Day 2, session 2. My first time driving the track in the dry, so going from extreme caution to balls-out took a little bit. Even then, I was still cautious...

So, interesting tidbits:

-3 car's wrecked (at least) - a Viper, an E36, and an SN95 Moosestang. Maybe one or two others, but I'm not sure.

-I immediately discounted this event as a loss, due to the rain. In the end, it was almost MORE fun than a normal event, because of the serious level of control required to keep from losing it, and it was a fantastic learning opportunity!

-Only one car out there was able to pass me in the wet, and that was a well-driven blue S2000. I was surprised to see him on my ***, because I was getting point-by's left and right and got used to it.

-Who has two thumbs and was told by his instructor that it was WELL past time to move into the next difficulty bracket? Being signed-off to solo only one session into day 2, while he's still taking his blue student out on the track to instruct him more is a great feeling

driving in the rain is like 1000x better than the dry. The car speaks to you so much more clearly.

Whenever I am trying to dial in a setup, I take the car out in the rain to get a clear understanding of the natural bias.

I was terrified initially just because of my off-track excursion at VIR, but I settled right in, and was actually shocked at how quickly I was detecting any kinds of under- or over-steer. It was as if I caught it before it really happened, and it was a great feeling. A complete opposite to how I felt at VIR.

the higher speeds you hit at VIR probably had something to do with that. I would be scared to run VIR in the wet for sure.

I would be more scared at summit than vir in the wet (if I had any fear ). I hate that summit has trees everywhere. At VIR most places you slide forever in the grass, or at least hit a solid barrier and not wrap around a tree.

Or walls - Summit has walls EVERYWHERE

Not as concerned with walls as there's a better chance you will have a glancing blow, but a tree could end your day very quickly. It really surprises me at how generally unsafe that track is and has been for years and years. It should have proper barriers all the way around on all of the courses. Jefferson is pretty bad.

Good stuff dude. Looks like they do have more barriers up since the last time I was out that way!
