Do you guys tape for the Dragon or just the trip down? It seems like a PITA to tape up every time you go out.

Painters tape is the best way, IMO.
A couple of TX guys at Z Fest last year swore by the stuff (road wrap). If you're not worried about accuracy, it looked easy to apply. Cut n' stick lol. What kind of film did it leave on the car? Like, adhesive residue?

We've got two rolls of the stuff and a bunch of painter's tape here... I'll probably use a combo of wrapping the hood and taping the lights.

That road wrap will flat screw up a paint job if it gets loose and starts flapping in the wind.

I found a product called Road Warrior Paint Protection I use on the quarter panels of my Challenger at the track. You roll it on, goes on milky white, then dries clear. When you're done it peels off like a decal.

Paint Proctection - Road Warrior Plus Official Site

I bought my from J&P Cycles.
