The nice thing about the GoPro is they are stripped down and cheap, you can run whatever editing software you want, and there's a ton of good free stuff Making their own would probably force them to add $100 to the price of every camera. |

Got the wife talked into letting me go by myself, she can't get off work but would really love to go. Now the begging begins....:bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl:please can i sleep on someone's floor???? O'yeah steve and dan have a back seat, i'd sleep there if someone would let. I would just need a place to clean up, i could do it in the sink at the lodge bathroom like a hooker :yum: if i had to. Of course i'd have cash to pay for said accommodations. The only hold up other than place to sleep etc, is my current tires are trash. I have to put 6-8 psi twice a week in the two rear tires and the tread is 98% gone. I should get my new wheels and tires next week and just have to get them and any other part i can installed and i'm good. Would fluid, lines and new pads be good enough or even needed for the the dragon/skyway/etc..? I'm not going to be leading the pack or anything, just some fun "safe" runs. I plan on heading out that way on sunday or monday. If i drive straight there it would take a little over 11hrs. I may just do it in two days, but i want to get some early runs in before it fills up then just chill when zdayz is going on.

OEM fluid and pads will be good enough as long as you aren't using the brakes like crazy. You should be fine on the Dragon, just be mindful not to use too much brake. Of course this is easier said than done. Sometimes you'll get with a group that is going pretty fast and you just want to keep up with them. |
MAZOC ZDayZ2012 on Twitter...
So for those of you who are interested.......I’ve set up a MAZOC Twitter account for this year's trip to and back from ZDayZ 2012
DISCLAIMER: I’m NOT a Twitter “expert”, but the intent is to set up a capability that we can “broadcast” information quickly to the MAZOC group going down for ZDayZ 2012 (at least for those periods where we have internet access)……. So to “subscribe” to the twitter account, do a search for @MAZOCZDayZ – when you find it (assuming you already have a personal Twitter account) you can choose to follow which will enable you to follow the MAZOC Tweets – I “think” you might have to “request” to follow, which I think is automatic, if not, I'll OK the request – this (I think) should enable a two way communications to the group….. I’m sort of new to the “twitter thingee”, but I think this might be value added for those with smartphones in the MAZOC Group who might find value added with info we can broadcast to the group all at once – anyway, if you are interested that is the info, if not, no biggee, we still have the walkie-talkies & mobile phones….<grin>…… If this doesn't work or is of NO VALUE ADDED, just write it off to a "failed attempt by an old fart trying to be relevant"......:icon17: |

got some work done by my friends at Z1 today, truck's ready for zdayz now

a warning to the newbies, it happens to someone every year, and yesterday I was talking to a biker that it happened to him and a few other riders.
Scenario: on Hwy 280 between Fontana and the Dragon. You come up on a slower vehicle, probably a truck or SUV with forestry department tags and he starts to slow down and eventually eases to the side of the road so you pass him. Go around the next corner and there is a cop pulling you over for illegal passing. This has been going on for years, so be careful. |
Isn't the caveat that they have to be partially on the road? Once they leave the road completely it can't be illegal passing.
|
Sounds like entrapment
|
It is, but are you going to go back to NC to fight it when your court date comes up, or just pay the 100 fine, or whatever it is.

I just won't stop...lol

Sat Night Dinner from Last Year

Going thru some pics from last year -- most of the MAZOC group at Sat evening activities......

I came across this video that provides a pretty good overview of the things you need to be aware of when driving the Tail of the Dragon and Hellbender. It was produced by one of the members of the Minis on the Dragon group but actually does a good job of addressing those things you should be aware of before actually getting out there. For anyone not having driven it before, a good thing to view and for those of us returning its a good refresh.

As far as pulling over for another car to pass. I would say it is not safe unless the vehicle can be completely off the main road which on the Dragon you will not find many places and for sure the passing car is going to go over the yellow lines and there goes the ticket. No way to fight that unless the NC or TN law states something about someone letting you go by. However is a no win situation once you get the ticket...unless you are going to go back to NC or TN to fight the ticket. We all know that Cops love out of state vehicles, especially when breaking the law. |
 thanks for posting that ZCarMan!

that's a good video. all of that applies to z's as well
