on Hwy 280 between Fontana and the Dragon.

You come up on a slower vehicle, probably a truck or SUV with forestry department tags and he starts to slow down and eventually eases to the side of the road so you pass him.

Go around the next corner and there is a cop pulling you over for illegal passing.

This has been going on for years, so be careful.

Thx for the heads up Mike:tiphat:

ZCarMan, thanks for the vid although I was already prepared for all the stuff it mentioned. I really fear people crossing the yellow. Its terrible that there are people that wreckless on the road that would put themselves and others in harms way like that:facepalm:

Nice little video, thanks man...

Running the Dragon in the rain doesnt sound like much fun:ugh2: Ive been following the weather down there for a few weeks. Been raining A LOT:shakes head:

FuszNissan 05-09-2012 07:24 AM

You're in the mountains, the weather changes hourly. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, 2010 rain almost every morning, in 2011 not a single drop that I recall...

My first Dragon run was in the rain.

I kinda like it when it rains a bit. Just relax on the deck of the cabin and watch it come down.

i have been too. we're still a week away, let's hope it clears up.

Red__Zed 05-09-2012 08:05 AM

Rain is a blast. Limits are lower, and the car speaks to you much more clearly.

m4a1mustang 05-09-2012 08:06 AM

It's also easier to hit stuff. :icon17:

I just hope it's not wet the whole time. A skyway run in the wet would suck, and you wouldn't be able to see any of the nice views. And if it is raining on Friday we probably won't hike up to Clingman's dome since we won't be able to see anything.

Anyways, this is a good reminder to pack umbrellas and ponchos.

Sscottfitz 05-09-2012 08:17 AM

Weather decree!

By the powers vested in me as a card carrying member of MAZOC -- the weather next week will be JUST FINE! A little sun, a few clouds, maybe a little moisture, certainly periods of light followed by dark, but that is always followed by light again.......and THAT is just on Jon & Pat's deck.......

m4a1mustang 05-09-2012 08:20 AM

I'm just hoping I survive and make it there. I am pulling 14 hour work days and will probably be working the full weekend.

red6spd 05-09-2012 09:32 AM

Have fun guys, wish I could have made it this year :( Maybe I will see some of ya at ZNationals if I can make that or ZDayZ 2013

If it does rain a few days, at least I'll get to see how the PSS tires really perform in the wet :icon17:

Was hoping to see you this year, Jared. Well, hopefully Znats or next Zdayz!

KaienZ34 05-09-2012 10:51 AM

Are there any tasty roads to run close to Znats??? As it's not looking good for ZdayZ this year for me.

I'm still not throwing in the towel yet. If my crap comes in, with enough time to get them and my springs installed i'm there. Even if i have to get a small tent, but i'd have to clean up like a hooker in the sink at the lodge bathroom. :ugh2:

On the plus side, the lodge bathrooms are nice.

So you'd at least be a classy hooker.

What wheels did you end up going with?

sig11 05-09-2012 01:41 PM

Znats didn't have tasty roads, from what little I explored. It was basically "Hang at hotel, hang at Z1, Cruise Atlanta, and some folks paid for the track day"

Intakes? AAM TT kit? :icon17:

shadoquad 05-09-2012 03:47 PM

I'm not going to have time to detail the car before the ride down. It'll be basic wash and then go.
