Great Meeting those of you that I caught last minute. I'll get my a$$ out of bed next time so I can meet the rest of you. Seems like a great group / meet.

Thanks Jon! With the help of Steve today, got the Stillen RSB on this afternoon. The car definitely feels like it corners flatter when pushing it, even with all the sand and salt still on the roads. Kirk is gonna eat his words cause I definitely won't have any issues with the Dragon or Cherohala skyway during zdayz :driving:

Definitely going to order the Stillen CAI system next weekend and have it on before the next meet.

Sounds like you all had a great turnout this weekend up in MD!

ZCarMan 02-12-2011 05:49 PM

Okay, I have to admit I was really surprised at the great turnout for the meet today! That was probably one of the coldest meets I've attended. There was one earlier this winter in Fairfax that was cold but nothing like that arctic wind today. It was great meeting new folks and I enjoyed the Chipotle as always. Hope to see you all again at the next meet in Fairfax or the next time up in MD.

Jay, I tell you , Steve is the man when it comes to helping out with things like that. I am glad to hear your mod came out as well as it did. Can't wait to check the Maxima out next weekend!

Well you can't see the RSB unless you get up under it. They tuck the thing up and over the single pipe of the exhaust before it splits into the Y pipe for the mufflers. I'll have the intake on for the meet on the 26th fursure!

b1adesofcha0s 02-12-2011 11:07 PM

The video was great, would have loved to hear Trooper's exhaust in action though. The VDC off button is so tempting, but I need to stay away from it...

Well done Birdman -- good to meet you guys yesterday, hope to see you at future events.

rarwz 02-13-2011 08:56 AM

i'll bring the cam to each event, maybe you guys can do something worth taping :driving:

I can definitely do some exhaust clips, inside outside type things.

Would love to go to the track for a test&tune day, or FATT @ summit point. summit + gopro would we awesome!

Nah can't be late for church man :) It was tons of fun exchanging tips and ideas with all during the meet; looking forward to meet the rest of the crew during the spring.

b1adesofcha0s: PM rarwz he has all the clips of trooper's exhaust, I swear you can hear that monster 3 blocks away and it sounds awesome. He reved it past a couple of police officers :bowrofl:

ZCarMan 02-13-2011 10:16 AM

Nice video. I had to laugh at the "we got lost and had to use the GPS" part! LOL. I agree that taping up at Summit Point or VIR this year would be great. No burnouts in the parking lot though for me. We aim to keep a good rep with the businesses so they won't mind us using their parking space. Reminds me of the VA Trooper who stopped at one of our Fairfax meets and asked if we were the ones who laid rubber in the parking lot of Starbucks.

Yep, definitely. No burnouts, crazzy revving, or any of that stuff in the parking lots. We're better than that.

You can drive however you want to/from but be safe. And when we do our cruises our primary focus is on doing it safely...

Sorry to be a buzzkill but that's just how we roll, have rolled, and will continue to roll. :)

I am so ready to have a track day! We can have our regular meet one day and then all drive down to the track, or just have the meet at the track. Of course we have to wait for the weather to get better.

m4a1mustang 02-13-2011 10:39 AM

I do some private test & tunes with a Mercedes group at MIR during the season. $100 gets you a full day... only ~40 cars show so you could put in a hundred passes if you wanted. I'll let you guys know when the first one is this season.

They usually rent the track out for a Friday 9-5 session.

Is that a road track or a drag strip? I would like to go to a drag strip first since I'm not getting an oil cooler any time soon. To confirm what some of the guys told me yesterday, it costs around $15 to get in (for drag strip) on a non-event day and you can go as many times as you'd like. Also they check your car to determine whether or not you will need a helmet. Would a stock 370Z require a helmet? What about one with full bolt-ons? Do you have to bring your own helmet if you are required to wear one?

I've never been to a track or drag strip, but I'm really excited to go for my first time. If any of you have been following the UK Top Gear, they came to the MD/VA area for one of their newer episodes. They went to Capital Raceway in MD for a race between a Ferrari 458 and Mercedes SLS, it was pretty cool.

last year when i went to MIR they said i didn't require a helmet, after a few passes they made me rent one... and i think it was like 10 or 20$ to rent.

Kirkster 02-13-2011 12:51 PM

I think you have to break the 14s for a helmet and 10s is a full roll cage.

Anyone know when Capitol Raceway will be open for test & tune? I checked the website, but it only shows last years schedule.

m4a1mustang 02-13-2011 01:53 PM

Tracks will usually open up in March.

I, for one, refuse to go to a regular test and tune because 1) they are too crowded and 2) you have to deal with too many idiot ricers. The crowd I go with is great and well worth the $100.

At a busy test and tune at MIR you will be lucky if you get 4 runs in 4 hours. At one of my events there is zero delay and you could literally make a hundred passes if you wanted.

Yep. 13.99 or quicker requires a helmet at just about every 1/4 mile in the US.

If you want a cheap helmet take a look at Pyrotect. They are made by Bell and you can get a new one for around $250. Good quality too.

b1adesofcha0s 02-13-2011 02:40 PM

It is worth it if you have the money. I would rather pay like $40 for entry and helmet rental and stay there for a couple of hours. Besides, when you're with a group of friends, time just flies. I was at the meet on Saturday for a good 5 hrs and didn't even realize that it had been that long.

m4a1mustang 02-13-2011 03:15 PM

Well one day you'll have to come out to one of the track rentals so you can experience the difference :)
