So, apparently there's an upper limit on how many pix we can load in total, and I have hit it.

:rofl2:

So, I can't finish uploading. That's it, apparently. Guess I'll have to archive these joints somewhere.

Set up a Google Photos album. You get 1GB free and can upgrade with this fee schedule:
  • 20 GB ($5.00 USD per year)
  • 80 GB ($20.00 USD per year)
  • 200 GB ($50.00 USD per year)
  • 400 GB ($100.00 USD per year)
  • 1 TB ($256.00 USD per year)

Pretty fair deal if you ask me!

ZCarMan 02-27-2011 07:36 AM

Steve, nice job on the valve covers. Looks sharp!

Brian370 02-28-2011 06:41 PM

Yessir that was me. Went to get a blu ray, I was pretty bored.

m4a1mustang 02-28-2011 06:45 PM

Alright, so Fairfax is this weekend. I know Dan was talking about having a range day at some point. Anyone up for some shooting after lunch, perhaps?

And no, I'm not talking about using Al for target practice. :icon17:

If you were talking about that, you would probably type a disclaimer about how you're not talking about that. So who am I to believe? :icon08:

If I buy a kevlar vest, I'll feel better in general.

Same here. Can you give some more info about cost and other stuff. Never been to a range, but its one of those things that always seemed fun to do.

Also, what's the address for the Fairfax meet, I might have to come out this week :)

As far as the range goes, I haven't actually been to a real pistol range either. I just shot on private land.

Not sure what Dan would recommend but some friends of mine have recommended Blue Ridge Arsenal which is pretty close to where we meet. But I think you might need to have a membership there before you can use the range, not sure.

Dan... guide us! :icon17:

m4a1mustang 02-28-2011 07:48 PM

Actually, nevermind, you don't need a membership to use the range there. But a membership does get you discounts.

They rent guns there too.

Quote:

Walk-in Hourly Membership Range Use:

Individual range time is $20.00 per person/per lane/per hour.
Each additional person sharing a lane is $10.00 per person/per hour/per lane.
Children 12 and younger are no charge.

Range Ammunition Restrictions:

We allow only Full Metal Jacketed (FMJ), Total Metal Jacketed (TMJ), Total Metal Coated (TMC),
"Clean Firing", or "Lead Free" Ammunitions. This ammunition can be from any
manufacturer, commercial re-manufacturer (re-loader) or customer re-loaded with the above type
projectiles. We ask that all shooters restrict their use of projectiles that have an exposed lead
core on either the top or bottom.

Not sure on Blue Ridge, I can look into that. The NRA range is also not far away from there. I've done all my shooting at either my parents house or Clark Bros, which might be a bit of a hike, especially for Marylanders.

I'd guess the NRA range would be our best bet, though if Blue Ridge let's us shoot, it may be worth it.

I'll bring a pair of extra handguns for people to borrow or whatever.

m4a1mustang 02-28-2011 07:53 PM

The issue with the NRA range is that it is probably going to be pretty busy. My friend goes there every now and then and some weekends they have over an hour wait for the range.

It's possible that if we got a headcount we could block off a few lanes at BRA. I guess it really depends on how busy they are. I know it's a little short notice to be trying to reserve group lanes.

Brian370 02-28-2011 07:59 PM

I was in the military for 5 years, i have no problem shooting, or paying the fees or whatever, itd be fun. Pistols are kinda boring though.

I read that and wasn't sure how to interpret it. The only rate they give is a membership rate, which means either a non-member rate is more (and not posted), or they don't offer a non-member rate. I guess it could also just mean it is more poorly worded than my posts, but I'm not sure they've got anyone that talented.

I have an 1893 Mauser that I'd like to shoot at some point. Just need to have it checked out by a gunsmith to make sure it doesn't explode and kill me.

I've never been near a gun before. I do need money for my day at the drag strip on Sunday, so I'm not completely sure if I'm gonna go to the range or not. May still come out for the meet if the weather is OK.

I've shot at Blue Ridge Arsenal quite a few times. They do have a nice assortment of firearms for rental. At one point they had a Glock 19 there with over 5,000 round through it and didn't jam once. If you're feeling ballsy, they do have a .50 cal DE for rent
