I'm stuck between top speed, magnaflow, and borla exhaust. Any tips to which one will give me the best sound along with power?

    Thanks

The stock setup on both intake and exhaust are sized fairly well for each other. You will see improvements when you replace both. With good tuning, a free flowing exhaust and intakes, 30-35whp gains would be expected. Replacing the cats to HFC's or TP would add another 5-7whp. Long tube headers, full exhaust, intake and tuning should push you towards 45-50+ whp on top of your baseline. You can't really do much for flow after that. The M370 manifold will not increase your whp, but will make a big improvement in torque. The pulley kit from NST will net between 7 and 10whp regardless of previous mods. An upgraded flywheel should add around 5whp as well. There have been a few forum members break 60whp over baseline, but reality is, if your pushing over 50 whp over baseline, you have a good thing going.

I was at +46whp, no tuning, no ecu learning period, and 3,000 miles on the odo. Keep an eye out for a post in the next couple weeks to verify my tuned vs untuned given similar conditions.

I wouldn't do short ram intakes. I personally recommend CAI's, they either terminate towards the sides of the bumper or in front. Stillens cost $550, Injens can be found for around $500ish, AEM with the eti module can be found for $400-450, Takeda and Akuma are $450-500. Don't quote me on those prices, but that's what I've personally seen. I don't care for the intakes that neck down at the MAF such as the Injens, but they still work well enough. Akuma's intake requires uprev, but they give you a map to use. AEM uses an ETI module that adjusts the maf readings to read the correct amount of air passing the maf sensors.

With an intake and tuning, I wouldn't expect more than 15whp. It really depends on existing mods. The more mods on your car, the lower the gains will be unless there is an extreme bottleneck somewhere caused by free'er flowing system.

So how much power would a good intake and tuner give my z? Would you recommend a short ram intake or the longer intakes stillen offers?

As for exhaust, there are a lot of options, pick what you like. Motordyne's E370, Fast Intentions, and of course Tanabe are my favorites. ARK makes a good system. Berks sounded decent too.

If your just looking for the Y pipe, Motordyne's XYZ Y pipe is the best... and most expensive. Gives you the option to run straight, HFC, or resonated.

I recommend pulleys from NST, some here don't like pulleys. With the CAI, I gained 16whp. I also like the M370 intake manifold. Good mid range tq, but no diff on top end. It runs about $550 usually.

Just take my advice and start going balls deep into the forum threads, A LOT of great info on what makes cheap power.

Haven't seen anyone use the bulleydog on these cars. Uprev is pretty much standard. I would go to their site and have a look around.

K&N drop ins are a good option, works well with post maf tubes from Z1. The best gains will always be cold air intakes. I love my AEM's. They made really good power even after my first mods. Akuma has a good deal on theirs going on. Stillen is a forum favorite, but really expensive.

The biggest restrictions are the stock cats and Y pipe. I gained 30whp with LTH's, full CBE and HFC on my Y pipe. You don't "need" LTH's" test pipes do well, but raspy. I would recommend resonated test pipes or HFC's. B2Designs had a sale on Berk HFC's for $410 that may still be going on.

I wanna put a K&N intake on my Z and also get a bully dog triple gt tuner. Will that give my Z a good amount of power? Any other suggestions?

    Thank you

I bought mine resale and had the option for a thermostatic plate. Not 100% sure if mine came with it. Keep in mind the measured temps are after it's been cooled. You could use a block off plate. During cool days, it was difficult for me to exceed 165. I drove normally as by the time it made it's way through the motor, it warmed up.
