After finally waiting over a month, the car is getting towed in the morning. I'm excited, yet nervous, to hear about the teardown. I'm expecting the worst, but hoping for the best. If the crank is salvageable, I'm doing it BIG (heads, cam, headers, throttle bodies, and tune...aka 600+whp NA).

Please do keep us posted on the estimate and best of luck.
No extended warranty. It comes with a 3yr/36k mile warranty...being that it's an '06, the warranty is long gone.

I don't know too much about Gen 3&4 cars but I have read of guys getting the crank drilled for better lubrication. While this sort of thing sucks it gives you a reason to build the motor. Roe Racing offers some pretty affordable rotating assembly packages but before you buy anything you should take the engine out and see what is salvageable. Hopefully you can reuse the crank and no other parts were damaged by the contaminated oil. Wish I lived near you so I could help you pull the engine.
I wouldn't say it's common...but when the Gen 3 motors do have problems, it's typically the #3 rod bearing. I just hope it wasn't enough to damage the crank. After driving 35 miles home with the noise, I fear the worst That drive home could be a $6-10k mistake, but I was exhausted after a day of drinking and celebrating a friend's wedding.

Unfortunately, it's not a warranty issue. I've read this problem happening on Gen 3 cars with as little as 10k miles on them, but there are also Gen 3 cars with 50-75k miles on them without a problem.
