The exhaust is almost done ! Pictures and video by this weekend !:)
Its very hard to not start he engine to just hear the noise until its finish. ! The exhaust bracket should be completed tomorrow ! Welding of the middle pipe & muffler on Thursday, my argon bottle is almost empty ;( |
OMG,
you guys will love the noise coming out from my 3.5'' single exit exhaust !!!! Video later on tonight or tomorrow. On the bad news, while welding up the mid-pipe 6 of 8 welding tacks broke which mean I'm gonna have to add a 3-5deg bent somewhere this weekend and finishing up the last exhaust bracket. then im gonna have to make a new tune ! its running a lot leaner now ! it was about 14.0-14.2 at idle now its around 15.0 then up to the mid/high 16 at cruising & slightly faster speed mostly where it was pretty much spot on at 14.7 until 2500-3000rpm so the Y-Pipe combined with the header does seem to flow a lot more ! |
The video didn't turn out that great with the GoPro :shakes head: but still sound awesome in real life !!! It can be very loud at WOT and quiet at cruising speed. On this video the mods the Z has are those ; -Modified Momentum Header -Custom Modular Y-Pipe (Currently 2x 2.5''resonator installed) -Custom 3.5'' Mid-Pipe with 3.5'' Resonator -3.5''In/Out Muffler No CAI or some sort but only OEM intake since my previous custom one does not fit anymore due to some modification that was done. |
Sounds good.
Plus your A/F ratio is very steady @ 12.4-12.5 |
Quote:
Yeah that was the first recorded pull after correcting the AFR. it still need some tweaking from 2000-4500rpm since it drop too fast into the 12.xx at like 2500-3000rpm the last pull into the video is from 1500rpm to 7400rpm Using the 4th gear with the 3.5FD diff @ WOT |
That sounds real good! I can imagine what she sounds like from behind u:tup:
|
My friend's VQ37HR , just broke 400whp N/A and still tuning !
MOTEC & ITB Estimate 420whp for him and 380whp for me once im done with mine ... (no ITB...) http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...ill-tuning.jpg |
Quote:
|
Sick. Always notice the DE/HR is so much more eager to rev than the VHR. I miss that. :(
|
Oooooooo :yum:
|
So your buddy is running an HR head swap and ITB's and broke 400whp? What else is he running? I've been thinking of going down the ITB rout but havent seen anyone successfully do it on our car. This is VERY interesting...
|
N/A Power
VQ37HR ( Hr engine stroked with VHR crank/rods) Big Cams ! ITB + Motec ECU. More power could still be found but he had a cluth assembly break down. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...-motec-ecu.jpg |
Quote:
-ITB -Motec ECU -3.5'' Exhaust setup - his own custom long tube step header (SG header previously now OnpointDyno) he sold several of them on the 350z forum. There is more power to be found but he had a clutch assembly break down last night. THere is rumor that the race team using this setup got up to 440whp. but for this, you must use a drysump . and other secret stuff. My project for 2013/2014 is that same exact engine setup minus ITB/drysump so im gessing 380whp should be a good guess. |
Great job on the custom exhaust  Those are amazing numbers... Question is, will 380hp be enough for you? :D

What an amazing thread, You're the man!!! don't know why I never got around to reading it. Just picked up a spare HR for me to mess with since my HR is up there in mileage, granted its running like a champ but it doesn't hurt to have a long block on hand, esp with only 5k miles on it lol :)
My plan is to go with the 3.7 crank, stock size HR rods and pistons to pretty much just strengthen the internals possibly for boost. O and of course cams and headwork too to let her breathe. We've talked on My350 before in regards to bigger TBs, Now since I have one to play with the more I look at the stock intake manifold I highly doubt 2 75mm Maxima TBs will fit lol so I was thinking about using the R35 Intake manifold, what's your take on this? Also,I could've sworn I read that OnPoints VQ37HR went with OEM HR rods since they're longer than VHR according to this article. Summer Is Ending – Kels, Dyno’s And California : OnPoint Dyno |
@ redline06 , I replied to you on the other website.
I just want to avoid having a big discussion about that on this thread ;) |
Subscribed to this great build!!!
|
Megan370z, your exhaust work is amazing! That's definitely some quality work there

I just wish I had some better tooling to make it easier and faster to make. I'm sure some guys would be interested to pull the trigger on this. .... |
I'm wondering if anybody would be seriously interested into my custom exhaust. ;)
http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...7-39-6-lbs.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...907-121955.jpg the kit include the whole exhaust setup which include - Modified Momentum headers (not the z1 copy) - Custom Y-Pipe 2.5'' paired to a transition & megaphone to 3.5'' single exit. - Custom 3.5'' mid pipe with a 18'' resonator. - Custom Muffler section 3.5'' in & out. - 2x HFC (y-pipe) - 2x Resonator (y-pipe) - Custom rear holding bracket (with bolts) - All mandrel bent 304SS tubing. - TIG Welded and Back-Purged for improved stronger welds. - Equipped with modified V-bands to reduce turbulence. - No gasket required. - Much improved scavenging effect due to the both transition and megaphone *Header & Y-Pipe* which mean more power ! - With the benefit of V-Band the swap of those parts can be done in 10 mins ! You will need to remove the rear bracing tower shown in the bottom Red square http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...350z-under.jpg then install the provided *blue* rear holding bracket the 2 holding bolts goes into the already installed welded nut into the frame. and you will lose the 2 braces going to the front bolts of the sub-frame. IMO they arent crucial to the rear stability since the 350z does not have it and have the same sub-frame setup. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...re-exhaust.jpg Ofcourse you will need to remove the rear fog light and slightly cut a circle in it .... http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...dea-behind.jpg you will have an improved ground clearance since everything was installed to be as close as possible to the frame. as a bonus half of the exhaust were heat wraped with DEI titanium (100feets of it) serious offer only please. Sorry I do not have a VQ37VHR (VVEL) dyno. since I have the HR heads. IMO this is the best ALL-OUT exhaust setup on the 370z. If the following parts are installed - Stillen Gen 3 CAI - VHR intake manifold (with intake runner smoothed out) - my custom Throttle body - Uprev / EcuTek I predict it will outperform the Z1 setup that had a result of 342whp with one of our 370z member on their dynojet. edit; My guess is by over 10whp from what I already gained previously from stock to fully modded 256whp to 324whp = 68whp of gain with my previous less optimized exhaust & HR intake manifold when Z1 only got a gain from stock to fully modded including their secret mod to 61whp of gain ( from 280 to 341 ) Why am I selling ? Going another route. and no im not selling the Z |
the exhaust kit is officially on sale in the sale threads. look it up.
 |
Guess what...
Every N/A parts required to gain atleast a minimun of 70+ whp over stock is now for sale. Remember I gained 68whp with a less effective exhaust that was made to fit into the decibel limit rules. This custom 3.5'' exhaust is way more effective than my previous one. It will be best to be sold as a kit since everything must match together to avoid bottle neck flow problems. this include every parts that can be seen in this exhaust thread ( CLICK ME ) this package deal add the following parts ; - Custom CAI which include a bigger Maf Tube - Custom Throttle body - NST Light weight pulley kit ( crank & alternator ) - Base Uprev ROM for this setup ( THIS IS NOT A LICENSE). I just need your ECU part number and the tuned ROM will be sent to you with the back to stock ROM. *This alone save your $$ on tuning time...* this package deal price is set at ; 4750$ |
Hey, New Update !!!
no.... its not about my Awesome Package N/A Power Deal that can give you a minimum of 70 Whp over a stock 370z....... Its about a new toy that I just got this morning !!! After 2 burn and 1 on the way to be a paper weight, I finally got to do what I was supposed to buy 2 years ago ! A true LSD ;) Im still debating on the final parts for the Diff oil cooler but anyway there it is. Cusco RS LSD 1.5 / 2 Way http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...-1-5-2-way.jpg |
Is this both 1.5 and 2 way locking? Same parts, just optional configuration?
|
Quote:
The RS can be either a 1.5way or 2way This isnt all... if you want to have a little read on this diff.... look here ; www. motoiq .com/MagazineArticles/ID/2966/PageID/5911/Project-370Z-Improving-Grip-by-Tuning-a-Cusco-RS-LSD.aspx |
Well the last parts just came in from Summit Racing ;)
my kit include an old Setrab 19row from 2007 which was the Stillen oil cooler kit on the 350z! After like 4 years of collecting dust, its going back to be used again ! http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...parts-misc.jpg Btw don't forget about my Awesome Complete N/A setup for sale ! Give yourself a nice new year present ! ;) Ofcourse my Kw3 are still for sale.... :gift: |
So I need to vent a little bit...
When someone ask for a shipping Quote with a specific delivery method. If that person give you a XX amount of Money. Don't expect me to play cool when you choose to use a different delivery method that will be more expensive once I receive it. there is a big difference between a shipping quote of 70$ with USPS then go with UPS at 90$ and get told almost a week later that it was in fact 120$ with USPS>.. so I assume this 70$ that was given in the beginning was just a guess of the estimate.. I even gave a bit more $$ to cover for his Paypal fee without being even asked for this ... his original price of 175$ shipped was perfect ... I gave 185 $ ... now im waiting to be raped by UPS.... great.... |
I hear you... UPS is the worst for shipping to Canada. USPS for the win!

Look whats coming home soon !!

Update;
I just discovered a possible peace of mind on a few of you guys. This picture is from the G37 http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...e74962-g37.jpg You will need to remove the rear bracing tower shown in the bottom Red square Edit ; The G37, 350z, G35 has the same setup. Only the 370z has the V-Brace which isn't absolutely needed . The G37 share the exact same setup as the 370z but does not include the V-brace and that big Tower for the brace found on the 370z. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...350z-under.jpg then install the provided *blue* rear holding bracket the 2 holding bolts goes into the already installed welded nut into the frame. and you will lose the 2 braces going to the front bolts of the sub-frame. IMO they arent crucial to the rear stability since the 350z, G35 & G37 does not have it and have the same sub-frame setup. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...re-exhaust.jpg |
I barely did any work on the car since I finished the complete N/A exhaust setup. *Which is for sale Btw (click me) *
I started back on the car this afternoon , taking off some part such as the hood and rear bumper for now. Started doing some work to make a mold for the Single Exhaust Exit. no rush since I still haven't completed my online order on a bunch of stuff (resin/carbon/fiberglass stuff....) Im just debating about resin infusion & bagging stuff ,, which might wait for a bit. This project is gonna be just an overlay in Carbon that will be taped with a 3M double side tape. which will require some minor modification to the exhaust exit aera that wont be seen if ever the choice would be to go back to a normal double exit. Once completed, this part will be sold with the exhaust setup ! http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...it-exhaust.jpg |
Nice work. Glad to see you're back on it again.
