I think he meant what are you doing with the gaping hole.

there is a functional plan but its not a top priority as I still have to finish the diffuser , winglet , mounting brackets and the rear fenders next is in this order after; - new (used) coilovers install then look for the spring size I need 12-14 kg rear swift spring order , it came with a 10kg 8'' I think. - remove AP racing BBK for rebuilt - Side skirts - front fender - under body - new splitter - front bumper modification - front brake duct - hood - more to come !! |
Quote:
need some info on this. are those OBX vq35 itb's just retrofitted or what? what all was involved with this. mainly just wanting to know hwhat all was involved with the itb install |
Quote:
Those ITB come from Fuel Injection Throttle Bodies and Induction Systems from Jenvey Dynamics - Jenvey Dynamics They were slightly modified for the HR head since he had them for his previous non-Rev VQ. Dont ask question what was modified since I never asked him. Look up his Website at OnPoint Dyno most details is on there !! He is running his ITB with MOTEC if you want to know quickly whats he is running it with. he currently setting up a drysump on his Z and there was some testing done after I made this post and If i remember correctly he ended at 414whp There is quite a bit more to be gained but need a different exhaust setup since he maxed what was already made for a C9/C10 JWT Cam Edit : that 414whp im saying is WITHOUT the drysump setup ! |
The Time Attack series (cscs.ca) I use to perform in changed their rules for 2014 !!
for the worst. For years they were allowing full aero mods (splitter/underbody/diffuser) with no restriction. Now that diffuser/underbody is illegal as well as the splitter I had before because it goes pass the middle of the front tire. This would put in me in Unlimited !!! Not cool !!! I'm lucky I didn't plan to finish first at the end because I will have no chance against those 500whp++ setup ! :shakes head: |
a better view of the project !;)
Damn its cold in the garage my feet were frozen solid after 3 hours in there !!! http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...d-lot-done.jpg |

|
Damn that looks sweet dude! Let's just hope it helps out with all the effort put into it. What angle did you use for the diffuser?
|
Quote:
I doubt it will really show anything for the relatively slow track where CSCS goes. I'm mostly building the Z for 2015 on the fast track but yeah it should look badass and intimidating !! As for the angle on the diffuser ? - The diffuser box is 51''wide 40'' long at 20deg with the stock suspension the diffuser is set at 3 3/4'' to the ground. - The muffler section has a curved bottom plate that start at about 5deg for like 10inch due to the exhaust then start curving up and - The 2 middle section lower plate is set at 10deg then the side diffuser/winglet are mostly slowly progressive. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...-main-idea.jpg |
ah yisss....
hand built racecar props link to the black material |

depending on how everything goes. those panel will be used to make a lighter version panel in Carbon Fiber/ Fiberglass later on. the diffuser setup picture on the #287 post weight at 26 lbs 12oz which include all bracket / rivnut / screw / rivets. |
Well at least you know you've added 26.75 lbs. of downforce :)
|
I don't know how viable all those aero equipment is, the diffuser in theory should add downforce, however they may be overkill. Additionally we don't know how adverse the drag is to performance.
|
I would agree with you IF I was just making a diffuser alone, yeah it could be overkill and not provide much but drag wize , it would be less than stock.
Quote:
Do you own research on this. Lookup on those Time Attack forum and especially on the F1 forum that guys modify their street car like ours with those aero improvement. on every occasion where guys were doing their testing with equipment to know the pressure difference with the underbody, the diffuser/flat bottom ALWAYS worked and provided hundreds pounds of downforce. remember just a splitter alone can provide a ton of downforce by just having a very small pressure difference between the bottom and the top.... this is not a guess but calculated. no I wont do any pressure test why ? because I know the drag will much lower than the crap underbody we have, also it will have the added downforce. this wont really give much of an advantage in the slow track but it will on the fast track, fast corner. |
Its gonna be wide !! :yum:
Some more details on the kit Im making for future reference. OEM Base wheel Front = 8'' +43 Rear = 9'' +15 Project being build for the RPF1 10.5 +15 square in mind. Front = 60mm wider each side (120mm total) Rear = 19mm wider each side ( 38mm total and spacer of 20mm) Width Front Outside wheel = 75'' 9/16 (+/- 1/8) Width Rear Outside wheel = 75'' 7/16 (+/- 1/8) I should be able to start making the first part mold of the rear right quarter panel tonight ! (about time !!!!) I cant do anything else which the list is soo freaking long... because I cant remove that damn bumper skin/diffuser until the mold is made ! http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...-extension.jpg |

ABS has been a bitch way to long. I Will try this in the next couple of days. |
That wing is so ugly. Take it off and ship it to me. It would look so good on my car instead. ;)
|
Quote:
I doubt you actually want to spend $$$ on another wing... it suck because I have my eyes on a nice swan neck wing that would fit nicely on the back of Megan ;) I just need to comeup with money !!! It wont be this year The reason why I actually want to switch is that the wing is getting a bit small for the future plans |
Quote:
have you checked with him to get a wider one ? or would it be a totally different maker ? |

Im changing all of the bolts for some round head since the old one rusted im also going to make some different sized endplate in CF since that first wing came with an alluminum plate that weight 3/4 lbs!!! Each. |
Quote:
For those that think itz overkill for an N/A setup because more downforce is also more drag. I totally agree with that.... im not building the aero kit for Megan with the current power in mind but I will have to deal with it for 2014.:stirthepot: |

can you share part numbers for the metric tee for abs delete?

what could help you is I bought everything from summit racing and Jegs... |
I now remember why I never continued into any bodywork job in my younger age... damn I hate doing that stuff !!!
For the pass week, I've been working in the garage and it seem like I haven't done much ! - rear right quarter panel is now made, it just need some finishing up the edges, adding reinforcement and brackets for the side panel. - New suspension in, which took almost a day because I had a damn headache ! - The AP BBK is removed for rebuilt and resurfacing in the next few weeks. - Almost done with all of the diffuser bracket. - The rear bumper cover is nearly done installing, I couldn't finish since I left a tool at home ! ;/ and then this :D this is the first part of a 2 pieces mold http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...1-2pc-mold.jpg |
That's incredible that you're capable of doing your own body work and fabrication, kudos.
|
Quote:
I love doing everything myself the only problem is I dont always have the right tools for the job, which suck ! There is soo much more I could do, its all about money in the end. I cant fabricate anything to sell to make money ,, no body like having race car parts ,, right ? still have the whole exhaust setup for sale :shakes head: |
Hey, I was looking at Cusco's LSD stuff, looks like they all specify they're meant as replacements for VLSD on the cusco-usa site here: Vehicle Results . Does that mean these work with the existing unequal-length stub axles from the VLSD?
|
Quote:
Cusco LSD re-use your VLSD stub axles .. which are the unequal-length |
Hmmm, that and they make a specific model for the AT carrier may push me over the edge to just getting the Cusco (I was already on the fence). That means I don't have to go shop for a new MT housing, I can just buy LSD + gears (+bearings, + oil seals?) and swap it out in my existing pumpkin.

Weekend Update !
It was a very slow week and weekend, I guess I was a bit tired of working on the car the week before in the cold from -20 to +3 Celsius and almost 8 to 12 hours a day (with break time of course) For the skeptic here we go with the main part of the rear right quarter panel. It weight in at 2 lbs 14.5 oz. Almost done! Some trimming left and then a final epoxy coating + clear coat. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...der-moment.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...rter-panel.jpg |
Shaping up nicely.
