Updates

Today I wanted to remove a little bit of weight from my car. So I removed the winshield washer reservoir and the squirters. Every bit counts in my book.

Now with the the reservoir gone I'm probably going to reroute my oil lines on my next oil change from my cooler to make it look more organized. Along with flipping my thermostatic plate 180 degrees. I have it facing towards the front of the car and want it to face more to the rear which will pull more slack out of it.

Several weeks ago I finally got tired of looking at my silver block off plate for my oil cooler. So I painted it flat black. Looks 100 times better.

One more thing. Last week I took off my Nissan emblems and painted them flat black. I really love this look. Now there's not much left on my car that is out of place. Just the door handles now.

I somewhat experimented with the emblems to try and get a different look from what everyone else is doing. I used a crystal type clear on them to give them a graphite type of look. They are rough to touch. But I like them and there different. If it doesn't work out. Then I'll just change them. But enjoy.

Thanks. It a great mod to have. I'm currently looking into a cooler for it. I feel I need one for those hard days coming at the track. Plus I'm buying a power steering cooler this month.

Carbon_z 06-07-2011 01:43 AM

PS: couldnt you just have drained the fluid? Im sure the plastic housing weighs less than 2 lbs. The fluid probably ways more

No I didn't. I believe with the resvoir and fluid it would be around maybe 6 pounds. Sparet tire is about 35.

I could of. But I want the room also. About to do a power steering cooler also. But hopefully they'll have a brake duct kit come out.

I love your car but am not a fan of the tail lights at all, it really detracts from the classy feel of the car in my opinion. Is it meant to be more of a matte finish?

Yes it's meant for a matte finish. That's what I like. A dull simple look, just plain. Not classy. I see where your coming from but it's just not me. Thanks for your honesty though. At least you like the other parts.:icon17:

NA. Worded just right. That's why were all different. But nothing to big. I do want to have Mike powder coat my calipers though. Mostly trying to stock up on maitence stuff such as brake pads and I want some 2pc rotors when these wear.

Update: Pyrotect Helmet

Got this today. My new Pyrotect Pro Air Flow Helmet. Can't wait to put it to use. I really like the flat black look. Fits great especially in the cheek area for myself. I've always had problems in the past with biting my cheeks on accident due to pressing to much. Plus my teeth have always been odd that aided to this. But this is perfect for me.

More things

Today I made some time to do the throttle body delete on my car. Now I have removed ever so little weight (:icon17:) along with removing some heat that routes threw the engine bay and reducing intake temps at the throttle body. Yes these are all very minimal points but every little bit helps along with simplifying my engine bay.

For more on this follow the link. Rep wstar if you like.

PCV Intake Hoses

Also today I installed some PCV intake hoses. Mostly for aftermarket intakes they remove the stock intake resonators. I like these for they clean up the engine bay along with giving a more direct flow to the intakes and being there made from top quality material they'll defiantly out last the stock hoses.

You can pick these up at Z1.

Cubby hole mod

Here is some quick rough pics of a little prodject I'm working on. I'm currently shaping this piece of metal to install in replace of the cubby door. I still have some smoothing out to be done. I will be installing a oil pressure gauge here. Wish I could do two gauges but there's really no other worthy gauge on a NA car.

So it will look pretty simple but better than the plain cubby door that I never use really. I haven't offically decided on what finish I'm going to have on the plate. Wrapped in CF or what not. If anyone is familiar with the removing the cubby I'm going to be mounting the plate in between the outer trim and the inner cubby hole trim. They are two seperate pieces that butt up to each other. I feel I will get the cleanes look this way. I want some of that race inspired look. Anyways here's some quick pics.

More Pics Of My Cubby Hole Mod (For Gauges)

I finally got a solid game plan of how I'll be installing my plate to install my gauges. You will see from the pics that I've monted the plate between the outer trim and the inner trim (cubby hole itself). When you seperate the two and insert the plate just bolt it back down which basically pinches the plate in place. It wont come out for I tried so slide it around to make it fit perfect and it wouldnt budge. Had to loosen it up to slide around.

I plan to use two gauges now (oil pressure and water temp) for I couldn't get past just having one gauge there. Plus a water temp is a lot more accurate than stock. I'm also going to try and place the gauges a bit lower on the plate so in the future I'll be able to add a scan tool gauge or toggle switches if needed. Now I'm waitng on my gauges so I'll know how big to cut the holes in the plate then I'm going to spray it flat black. Stay tuned.

I thought about. Now that I know what has to be done it would be easy. I could get Mike to powder coat it. I'm painting mine. It's funny how cheap I can be in this business. It's mostly the pride I get from it.

Here's my gauges I'll be installing. Oil pressure and water temp. Don't mind the water temp on the left. The gauges are universal and I still have to change the backing to the proper one. I bought the Greddy sandwich plate to stack onto my oil cooler plate. My plate I made for my gauges is going to be powder coated. So that will be nice. Hopefully I'll have this next weekend by Monday.
