Well... I don't have any kids so that gives me a bit of free time; but, you have noticed my build has been SLOW SLOW SLOW. I can chip away at expensive stuff but I can't just go full hog and cut a 20k like some of the other ballers around here.

As for my wife, She is not a fan of the car. She also understands that this is my hobby and this is my personal goal. At the end of the day, she supports me.

Another reason my build is slow... I don't know what I'm doing because I'm not a pro. The engine bay was the first time I painted legitimate car parts. I appreciate the compliment man! I really do. I'll add this, and I'm sure you guys already picked up on it... I HAVE to do the best job I can do. If I don't... it keeps me up at night. In the long run I will end up re-doing something if I don't put full effort into it. So why not try doing it right the first time?

Oh, side note. I figured out where the "lint" came from in the paint. I accidently bumped into the fresh paint with my shirt. I'll try wet sanding it out a bit.

-Edit

One last thought. I'd encourage you to keep a detailed log or posts. It allows you to see and understand what has been done to the car. I'm sure this digital log will be fun to flip through when the car is "done" (is it ever done though?)

On one bike forum. I had a build thread on it for one bike that I did. Photo's write ups, video's, everything. The server crashed one night. The forum lost everything. They wanted me to redo the build thread. I couldn't it. Because all of my notes was on there too. Lesson learn. Keep your notes on paper too.

That's a chit load of welding. Do you know if he purged the piping before welding?

I'm pretty certain he did a back purge. I did some quick math on the welding and it's like 34 linear feet of welds.

on a side note...

I have the crash bar out for powder coating, k-member mount (not sure on the name) and shock tower rings. Both the crash bar and k member mount are going to be black. There was a small amount of surface rust on the k member mount, just like the rear suspension stuff I had to take care of. Not a lot but it was annoying. The shock tower rings will be high lighter yellow. I want to paint the turbos highlighter yellow but I'm unimaginative when it comes to paint. Doing the trim rings allows me to dip my toe in with out paying a large fee. Also, if I don't like it... I can paint them black easily.

Happy to say that I was the first person in the world to purchase Brian Tooley LS1 Rocker arms that were just released last week. I wasn't allowed to say anything because they were kind of hush hush. Now that the official release has been done and I received them today, I can talk about them. Well, I'll just post a link to their site.
https://briantooleyracing.com/btr-ls...r-ls-1-7e.html

I put them on the shaft mount rockers... and they look magical. I can't wait to twist high RPM now!

I also got the spider monkey back (intake tube). The tube is only a little off which is absolutely amazing considering how many pie cuts there are!.

I had to slow down my activity on my car the last few days because I started to get a burned out feeling. On Sunday I tried putting on my long awaited oil pan but the custom flange was off. It started out with all the bolt holes being too small. Then after that, the holes didn't line up. The fabricator of the pan took it back to his shop to make adjustments, which turned out to be opening all the holes up more. No biggie.

A new issue popped up now that the pan fits. My Morosso oil pan pickup doesn't fit. Pretty simple fix really. Cut the pickup, extend it further (straight) and then come back down at angle that parallels the side of the pan.

One thing you might notice is the location of the starter and two of the pan bolts. Spanner wrench is the only thing getting in there. Amazingly compact, but... there's a price to be paid with that. Not a bad thing but it is worth noting.

There's two reasons why the pan is custom if you happened to have forgotten. 1. There were no rear sump options for the 370z, There is now from Sikky. 2. The original Morosso pan didn't clear the steering rack. The notch is specifically for the power steering lines (PITA). I need to get with Sikky to see if they will sell me a power steering line ... hmm. Less work I need to do at this point the better.

I'm still needing to measure pushrods yet but Dave has been busy AF around the shop. I'm not a paying customer so my stuff comes last. I'm not complaining about that either. They have to pay bills first and foremost, and I don't ever expect to put my car infront of any customer.

I'm still waiting on my powder coated parts. I expect they will be done sometime next week. I'm pretty excited about that.

No other good updates other than that. ...

Spring is 60 days away... lol

I don't see a drain plug in the front section of the oil pan. By the looks of that front section. You will have about a quart of oil laying in it.
