While seat time is more effective than any bolt-on part, it's not "instant". Like most sports, it takes time and practice to develop the mental "sub-routines" that will eventually run in the back of your head automatically. With time and practice, the mental "noise" will quiet down and the sport will "slow down" for you. Don't get discouraged. No matter how slow (or fast) you are when you start, YOU WILL GET FASTER with good practice. That's the good news. The bad news is that if you get hooked, as so many of us do, there is no top to this mountain. Almost 10 years in, I still NEED to drive better. The better I drive, the more obvious every little mistake is....and there are many on any given run. I know there is no such thing as a "perfect run", but I can't stop chasing it anyway. 03threefiftyz has a quote from Peter Egan in his sig: "Racing makes Heroin addiction look like a vague wish for something salty."
