Galco holsters; Holsters; Gun holster, pistol holsters, western holsters, shoulder holsters, leather holster and Glock holsters It is super-comfortable, very secure and prints less than any of the other holsters. Even with a t-shirt you can hardly notice that I am carrying. It's cheap too! |

BTW, I didn't know you were in lake county, I go on cruises there all the time! |
Went to the range today with friends. Got home and set everything out to clean and found this:
One for the Milk Carton: My Glock 19 Gen 4 Slide Lock | The Truth About GunsThe Truth About Guns The slide lock lever on my 19 is missing. Can't find it in my range bag or anywhere in the house so it must have happened at the range. Ordering a few replacements now since they are cheap. Looks like it's an easy fix. |
The slide lock spring also needs to be replaced. Looks like it was bent somehow and the lever was able to slip out.

I am pretty sure I know how it happened. Either me, my fiancée, or anyone else that attempted to field strip the gun could have damaged the spring. It's a little difficult to work at first so it's easy to get it to jam up and bend if you try to force the slide. If you bend it enough it won't retain the slide lock and when the gun is turned on its side it can fall out.
It's an easy fix, though, so I'm not worried. I ordered a couple replacement springs for all my Glocks and some extended slide locks as well. |

I like them both. If I was going to spend a full day on the range and could only bring one I'd take the 17, but the 19 would do too.

I applied my Talon Grips for my Kahr today. I ordered the rubberized texture. Never used this stuff before, but I have to say it's very nice and easy to install. You just use the supplied alcohol swab to clean the grip (after field stripping, of course) and allow it to dry. Then you start to carefully wrap the material around the grip. It's got a tacky adhesive that sticks pretty well but doesn't fully stick until you apply heat. Once everything is in place you go over it with a hair dryer and it conforms tightly to the grip.
I like it a lot. I don't need/want it for my Glocks but for the Kahr it's really helpful. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-E...716_182720.jpg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-q...716_182726.jpg They also sell a granulate texture if you are interested in that. Talon Grips for Glock, XD, XDM, Kahr, Ruger and Kel-Tec Pistols. Free Shipping! |
LOL, that was the first thing I did to my CM9!

:icon17:
Palmetto State Armory is still doing free shipping so I ordered a bunch of PMC X-Tac for the AR. I think we went through 300 or so rounds in a short period at the range on Sunday so I needed to replenish. Also got a bunch of 9mm since I'm trying to be at the range at least once a week to improve and maintain my handgun skills. |
Been spending a lot of money on this stuff lately...
RCS Phantom holster ordered for the 17. I chose the quick-ship option so it should be finished within 30 days (ridiculous production time, but maybe it's just one guy). I added some IWB mounting options just to try but I think the 17 will be too big. MTAC ordered for the 19. Best IWB holsters... so comfortable. PJHolster for my Kahr should be arriving soon so I'll be able to carry IWB if I want. Hopefully I like it. If not it should be an easy sell on the Kahr boards. Ammo... went over that one in the previous post. But CTD is having a big PMC sale so I might order some more and hedge against future price increases. Got a Magpul AFG for the AR... we'll see how I like it. Next up for that one is an Aimpoint PRO... hopefully soon. Tired of the irons. |
you buying reloads or factory loads for the 9mm?
|
factory loads. i don't trust reloads.

no issues after about 3K rounds i think funny thing is during a match some guy bought Walmart WWBs and he had 2 squibs |
Who do you buy from? I just worry about blowing **** up.

if i ever get start up money im going to start reloading myself so i can fine tune my load |
Freedom Munitions has good prices though. I've tried 1K of their reloads with no issues
EDIT: well i just noticed their prices went up haha |
I remember looking into USA Ammo once. I was thinking about getting their .223/5.56 but then started reading about ARs blowing up left and right.

My boss and I blocked a few hours off on the calendar next Tuesday to go get him a 1911. Hopefully this will include a quick trip to the range on the way back to the office.

I just buy M193 from whoever. It's about $350/1K right now, and that extra bit of money is worth it to keep my rifles together. No gunshow reloads for me.
|
I might be taking a defensive handgun class in August.
I want to do a basic carbine class but that's going to wait 'til next year. |

Also noticed that Cheaper Than Dirt has the Bronze .223 you mentioned for under $6/box, granted they do charge a bit in shipping. Do you guys use the M855 for anything? My local indoor range doesn't allow it but I ordered some anyways just to have on hand. |
This is the handgun course I am thinking about taking: Proactive Shooters
Not too far from me and it looks like it'd be fun for a first-time live-fire class. |
Bwahaha I talked my fiancée into taking the defensive handgun class with me so now I have an excuse to buy a OWB holster specifically for the G19. :happydance:

You want to make another one? ;)
Nah, it's cool. Wouldn't want to ask a favor that could open up potential liability. That's good stuff, though. |

Your next challenge will be selecting load bearing equipment. |
I got a real nice deal on a Springfield 1911 Range Officer today at the Nation's Gun Show. I took it to the range and put about 200 rounds through it. This thing is a tack driver! I love it.
Also worth noting... my G19 really has a tendency to throw brass right back at my forehead when shooting. It does it more than my G17 and G26 (which rarely does it at all). All are Gen 4s, so this is a known issue. At the range it's not a huge deal because I always have eye protection and sometimes have a cap on, but in the real world I could see it being a problem. A shell to the eye in the middle of a fight would not be a good thing. I need to look into fixes more closely. |

Apex Tactical has a machined extractor that should be out in the next 4-6 weeks. The prototypes are very promising. Should be about $60 according to Randy Lee. |
I'll have to keep an eye on those when they come out.
