I think I'm going to get an MTAC for the 19. I love my MTAC with my G26.

Now for OWB carry I am thinking something like a Blade Tech Nano or Raven Phantom... any suggestions? 19 is going to be easy to wear OWB in the fall/winter with something covering it.

Since getting my concealed hangun permit and my H&K P2000SK I have bought 5 different (IWB and OWB) holsters and the funny thing is that the cheapest and first one I bought is by far and away my favorite:

Galco holsters; Holsters; Gun holster, pistol holsters, western holsters, shoulder holsters, leather holster and Glock holsters

It is super-comfortable, very secure and prints less than any of the other holsters. Even with a t-shirt you can hardly notice that I am carrying. It's cheap too!

I have a bunch of holsters for my M&P9c... my favorite out of all of them is a PJholster. Simple, inexpensive, comfortable and thin. Too bad I had to try so many to find this one. C'est la vie.

No kidding, I'm already thinking about a M&P45. Love the apex tactical trigger kits for the M&P series pistols. I have one on the M&P9c and one more on the way for the shield.

Raven Phantom is a great series of holsters. I have favored Blade-Tech drop-offset for range holsters and courses, but the Ravens are excellent, especially for OWB carry. They fit the gun well and their belt loops for OWB are superior. The problem with Raven has been their 16-18 week backlog. However they how have a "Quick Ship" option for certain handgun models and those are shipping in 30 days or less. The Glock 17, 19, and 26 are part of that 30-day Quick Ship product line. I didn't want to wait (or pay the $80), so I'm making my own in the little kydex corner of my workshop using Raven belt loops .

Well this range is almost in wisconsin. its in winthrop harbor. Family owned. Good people. Its located on north sheridan rd. Outdoor sportsman is the name. Check it out. Being a wisco resident, no People Republic of Illinois POW ID card required for firearms for the rooster

BTW, I didn't know you were in lake county, I go on cruises there all the time!

m4a1mustang 07-15-2012 02:13 PM

Went to the range today with friends. Got home and set everything out to clean and found this:

One for the Milk Carton: My Glock 19 Gen 4 Slide Lock | The Truth About GunsThe Truth About Guns

The slide lock lever on my 19 is missing. Can't find it in my range bag or anywhere in the house so it must have happened at the range. Ordering a few replacements now since they are cheap. Looks like it's an easy fix.

m4a1mustang 07-15-2012 02:25 PM

The slide lock spring also needs to be replaced. Looks like it was bent somehow and the lever was able to slip out.

Dude that's messed up. :shakes head:

m4a1mustang 07-16-2012 09:22 AM

I am pretty sure I know how it happened. Either me, my fiancée, or anyone else that attempted to field strip the gun could have damaged the spring. It's a little difficult to work at first so it's easy to get it to jam up and bend if you try to force the slide. If you bend it enough it won't retain the slide lock and when the gun is turned on its side it can fall out.

It's an easy fix, though, so I'm not worried. I ordered a couple replacement springs for all my Glocks and some extended slide locks as well.

So which did you like shooting more, the 19 or 17?

m4a1mustang 07-16-2012 11:24 AM

I like them both. If I was going to spend a full day on the range and could only bring one I'd take the 17, but the 19 would do too.

m4a1mustang 07-16-2012 09:50 PM

I applied my Talon Grips for my Kahr today. I ordered the rubberized texture. Never used this stuff before, but I have to say it's very nice and easy to install. You just use the supplied alcohol swab to clean the grip (after field stripping, of course) and allow it to dry. Then you start to carefully wrap the material around the grip. It's got a tacky adhesive that sticks pretty well but doesn't fully stick until you apply heat. Once everything is in place you go over it with a hair dryer and it conforms tightly to the grip.

I like it a lot. I don't need/want it for my Glocks but for the Kahr it's really helpful.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-q...716_182726.jpg

They also sell a granulate texture if you are interested in that.

Talon Grips for Glock, XD, XDM, Kahr, Ruger and Kel-Tec Pistols. Free Shipping!

tranceformer 07-16-2012 10:24 PM

LOL, that was the first thing I did to my CM9!

m4a1mustang 07-16-2012 10:39 PM

:icon17:

Palmetto State Armory is still doing free shipping so I ordered a bunch of PMC X-Tac for the AR. I think we went through 300 or so rounds in a short period at the range on Sunday so I needed to replenish. Also got a bunch of 9mm since I'm trying to be at the range at least once a week to improve and maintain my handgun skills.

m4a1mustang 07-17-2012 11:45 AM

Been spending a lot of money on this stuff lately...

RCS Phantom holster ordered for the 17. I chose the quick-ship option so it should be finished within 30 days (ridiculous production time, but maybe it's just one guy). I added some IWB mounting options just to try but I think the 17 will be too big.

MTAC ordered for the 19. Best IWB holsters... so comfortable.

PJHolster for my Kahr should be arriving soon so I'll be able to carry IWB if I want. Hopefully I like it. If not it should be an easy sell on the Kahr boards.

Ammo... went over that one in the previous post. But CTD is having a big PMC sale so I might order some more and hedge against future price increases.

Got a Magpul AFG for the AR... we'll see how I like it. Next up for that one is an Aimpoint PRO... hopefully soon. Tired of the irons.

xdeslitx 07-17-2012 11:47 AM

you buying reloads or factory loads for the 9mm?

m4a1mustang 07-17-2012 11:50 AM

xdeslitx 07-17-2012 12:05 PM

EDIT: well i just noticed their prices went up haha

m4a1mustang 07-17-2012 12:07 PM

I remember looking into USA Ammo once. I was thinking about getting their .223/5.56 but then started reading about ARs blowing up left and right.

I just buy M193 from whoever. It's about $350/1K right now, and that extra bit of money is worth it to keep my rifles together. No gunshow reloads for me.

m4a1mustang 07-18-2012 06:05 AM

I might be taking a defensive handgun class in August.

I want to do a basic carbine class but that's going to wait 'til next year.

I generally use PMC Bronze in .223 as range and course ammo. I do note that the price disparity between that and M193 seems to be narrowing. PSA looks to have PMC X-TAC 55gr in 5.56 for that $350 price point. Something to consider.

I just bought a bunch of their X-TAC. They are doing free shipping again (for a while they weren't) so I jumped on it while it lasts.

Also noticed that Cheaper Than Dirt has the Bronze .223 you mentioned for under $6/box, granted they do charge a bit in shipping.

Do you guys use the M855 for anything? My local indoor range doesn't allow it but I ordered some anyways just to have on hand.

m4a1mustang 07-18-2012 08:16 AM

This is the handgun course I am thinking about taking: Proactive Shooters

Not too far from me and it looks like it'd be fun for a first-time live-fire class.

m4a1mustang 07-18-2012 10:29 AM

Bwahaha I talked my fiancée into taking the defensive handgun class with me so now I have an excuse to buy a OWB holster specifically for the G19. :happydance:

Found M193 XTAC for $320-ish 1K, but don't like the place selling. It seems to be around $350 elsewhere. Carbine 1.5 Viking Tactics this November, I need to buy some. Already bougth 15 Lancer L5 AWM mags, need a few more things.

I've never taken a course from Kyle Lamb, but he has a great reputation. Last course I took was last October - Trident Concepts. That was a 2500-round course. I was glad to have 18 Pmags on hand with a StripLula and all rounds loaded into stripper clips.

Your next challenge will be selecting load bearing equipment.

m4a1mustang 07-28-2012 06:53 PM

I got a real nice deal on a Springfield 1911 Range Officer today at the Nation's Gun Show. I took it to the range and put about 200 rounds through it. This thing is a tack driver! I love it.

Also worth noting... my G19 really has a tendency to throw brass right back at my forehead when shooting. It does it more than my G17 and G26 (which rarely does it at all). All are Gen 4s, so this is a known issue.

At the range it's not a huge deal because I always have eye protection and sometimes have a cap on, but in the real world I could see it being a problem. A shell to the eye in the middle of a fight would not be a good thing. I need to look into fixes more closely.

I shot my Glock 19 (Gen 3) last week. Note the ejection pattern in the video. The only two of the 6 shots where the ejection was the same was the two that hit me in the head.

Apex Tactical has a machined extractor that should be out in the next 4-6 weeks. The prototypes are very promising. Should be about $60 according to Randy Lee.

I'll have to keep an eye on those when they come out.
