If you think the AR15 has too much recoil. You got a soft shoulder.

Use a mercury tube in the stock. It will take most of the recoil out.

It has more kick than an AR. It's a weak kick but way to much for an AR. My sig 556 has half this guns recoil with a 10" barrel.

Ar15 is very mild compared to a 12guage, 50 Beowulf or a Barrett 50 cal

Yes I know this but my AR has to much kick for an AR. In terms of kick like I said on a YouTube sled test, mine probably slides back a good 9" which like the video was a AR with no muzzle device or a A2 flash hider. For fast follow ups and 3 gun that's way to much kick! The Precision Armament m4-72 had the test AR only slide back 2.43" on the table. That's a crazy amount of recoil reduction. That's what I'm going for. Hope that makes sence now. I want the kick of a .22.

Wink

Flash hiders do nothing. You want a muzzle brake. Like I said before. You need a mercury tube in the stock. Shotgunners use them.

My 308 AR has a Miculek brake and has next to no recoil but it send a hell of a blast at anyone sitting next to you and will clear the tables beside you. I'm not sure if they make it in 556 or not but I would think they do.

Yeah that's not bad at all. I'm sure Jerrys control is great but I wish it was included in the testing. His rifle doesn't even move.

I thought I would post a couple of pictures of my newest. I've had it just over a week now. Still waiting for the registration certificate to arrive from the CFO before I can try it out at the range. (Yes, I'm in Canada.) So, I've disassembled it a couple of times and done the grease lube job as per Tony's video. I used synthetic bearing rated grease for the lube. And I ran a couple of patches down the bore, so she's ready to shoot. I also removed the stripper clip guide since I have no use for it. I also have a proper black leather sling being made for her.

I may mount a red-dot on the fore end rail and try that out after I try out the irons and get them zeroed. And I'm also looking at a CASM mount for an optic, we'll see. I know I got to the party late with my purchase, so if this is old news for some of you, I apologize.

Edit:
I took her out today for her first shoot. Shot 75 rounds. It took me about 8 to 10 rounds to zero the irons at 109.3 yards (here in Canada, that's 100 metres). I was shooting nice consistant 4 to 6 inch groups with the irons. I am happy with the results with this "shorty" 18" barrelled CQB rifle.

It felt "snappy" shooting 150gr fmj Federal. I'm glad the butt has a recoil pad to help old shoulders ;-)

Nice. Try some 168gr or 175gr bullets. Most of the guys I know who shoot the 308. Like the heavier bullets.

Default Good choice

As part of my plans to buy another Z in about 6 months, I am slowing selling off part of my firearm collection. I decided I really didn't need the AR15 in 6.8 spc (never even got around to firing it), but I am keeping my AR10. Collecting ammo and mags for a 556, 6.8, and 308 after awhile didn't make sense. You have a really nice rifle.
