Anyone here own a Glock 17? Your thoughts?

I had one, chambered for 9mm, for a while. Nice gun but didn't fit my hand very well and I found the safety-in-the-trigger to be a little disconcerting. It seemed to shoot well (only shot one box through it). I'd still have it if it were more comfortable in my hand.

Gen 4 or 5? They shouldve kept the front serrations on the 5, they also put night sites on it  . Not a big fan of Glocks in general, but Ive heard of nothing but good things as far as reliability.

Been interested in getting one too. More specifically the Charging Rhino 60DS.

I have a 19 which is slightly smaller than the 17. Not my favorite pistol, prefer one of my H&Ks over it, but it has been very reliable, accurate, and I trust my life to it. Tons of mods and accessories out there for them. Glocks are like the Honda Civics of the gun world. They are nothing special but they are reliable, unless you mod them, and the fanboys can be annoying too. :icon17: :rofl2:

It's a 6" barreled Rhino chambered in 9mm that is DAO. The double action in this gun is a lot lighter than the standard Rhino and is meant for 3 gun style competition shooting and it uses moon clips for faster reloading. Also you can buy parts from Chiappa to make the trigger even lighter but it is recommended that a gunsmith install them. Down side is not all ammo can be fired through it. Even the trigger that comes with it might have a difficult time with hard primers.

Yes, there is but they are rare and I think they discontinued them. They are not listed on their website but I found the part numbers in a manual (see attached pic). I found a few floating around on the web but they are mostly sold out and I only really found the CF340.238, the 40DS variant.

tvfreakazoid 02-04-2020 08:37 PM

Ah. I guess it wasnt popular enough.
That would of been nice if they pushed that more

You might want to hold off a minute. Palmetto State Armory just showed off the PS9 Dagger at Shot. During some of the interviews they mentioned that it would be compatible in the future with a longslide conversion. At a base of 299.00 it's gonna be a juggernaut considering it's basically a customized Polymer 80. You'll be able to swap in anything you could swap into a glock and the RMR slide cut version will be icing on the cake. If you look at a firearm as the tool it is, Glocks are basically the equivalent of having Craftsman tools vs. Snap-on. They get the job done, the reliable and a better option than Harbor Freight.

Side note: One of my "Cop Nightmares" was getting shot and killed with a Lorcin .25 . I actually had that nightmare for years along with my gun firing slow motion bullets, or bullets that dropped before they hit. But the worst was always getting killed with a chrome Lorcin with pink pearl grips. Weird.

I have 2 Raven .25 ACP's. :rofl2: One with the wood grips, and one with the pink pearl grips. Both were my parents pistols.

The best thing about winter is freezing 5 gallon buckets of water and then shooting ice with every gun in the arsenal.

Shockwave? I've heard that the shorty 12 gauge rounds work well with the adapter on the cartridge lifter (I think that's what their calling it).
In case you need it... here's the link.

It's the 870. Apparently it has problems ejecting the minishells. Someone will figure out how to make it work, and then I'll buy the second one.

I'll only use off the shelf 00 buck for HD 12ga loads. I don't want to have to justify using some super deadly exotic ammo in front of a jury. I want to play dumb redneck who bought the same ammo he would use for a deer.

:iagree:
I'll pick up a box of "exotic" ammo (LAP, tracer, Dragon's Breath, etc), if I find it on sale, but they are strictly for use at the range. For defense, it's all "conventional" ammo.

I'd like to find 1-2 brass shotgun shells at a cheap price; not to shoot but just because I think they look nice. We have a place in town that specializes in "exotic" ammo but they want an arm and a leg.

I load MagSafe thru my ACP and 9mm. It has some serious impact energy.

I really would like to get a 586 L Comp 357 mag. I don't have a revolver. I sure would like to get one to practice with.

Some places can't keep guns and ammo on the shelf. Selling everything and anything right now.

I went with the size matters on my decision. 8 3/8” barrel 629.

LMAO, no way to use that bad boy as a service weapon. Not sure I could draw and fire two rounds in three seconds without blowing my foot off.

Haha. It is kind of intimidating when you see it. Not quite as much now that they have the X-frames, but it’ll still quite a site. I carry it in the deer stand. Figure if I get out and have to stare down a wild hog, I want something to drop his ***.

My first was a S&W Model 19 4". Funny thing was we did'nt use .357 ammo we used .38 Special Nyclads because trying to load a speed clip of .357 under stress is a pipe dream.
