People keep using this phrase, "for the greater good"... As someone who has zero faith in those people, why should I care about trying to make things better for them?

People keep using this phrase, "for the greater good"...
As someone who has zero faith in those people, why should I care about trying to make things better for them? Let the virus do its thing. I would be happy for 2% of the population to disappear.
