I broke a dang rib and it hurts like a mother. Can't cough, burp, fart, laugh, etc or else dues will be paid.

I got a bad cold and coughed in the wee hours of the morning several weeks ago. Crack, ouch from hell. I thought I was good 3 days later. I had to get hay last Saturday and obviously over did it. Yesterday at 3:15pm at work I coughed again and crack. I hurt it again. Come to find out I broke a rib. Another lady was at the hospital also, She broke 2 ribs.

Not as bad as fubaring your ACL, It's the coughing bit that will kill ya. Broke ribs with no cold, no big deal. Through the crud cold on top of it and it will make you cry for MAMA.... Hence why I am black and blue on my right side.

I broke one in March.I feel your pain.

Get you a rib wrap,it helps tremendously.

When I broke 3 ribs in my accident they told me to NOT wrap my ribs. The reason being is that it keeps you from breathing deeply which can lead to pneumonia due to fluid building up in the lungs that normally gets expelled during normal breathing. As a matter of fact, they had me do breathing exercises to make sure that didn't happen even though everytime I took a deep breath I felt like I was going to die.

I guess my doctor figured it would be O/K since i only broke one.Just can't wrap it too tight.

Spooler, are you sure it's not out of socket??? More than likely you popped it out coughing instead of breaking it.

Where did it break at?

With broken ribs. You have to be careful of calcium deposits forming over the break.
