I mean I use to listen to music on a CD player with "anti shock" so the song would not skip when hitting a bump. If I have kids, they will wonder what a CD player is, hell what a CD is! They may even think that we were fools driving in cars that used combustion and how we didn't know how to use the free air around us or the power of thought to power our cars.

Like my father use to say, there's no place to go but forward son!
I remember cars going from AM to AM-FM radios. 4 track to 8 track tapes. Cassettes to CD's to USB.

There were also 45 players back in the 60s. I only saw one.

I seen one at a Lincoln dealership when I was a kid.

AM to AM-FM was the most awesome jump for me. As a teen I was amazed at how you no longer lost the music on the radio going under overpasses or through tunnels and how there was no longer static when you drove beneath power lines. Waiting for "good" FM stations to come to my area was agonizingly slow.

All the "good" AM stations in my area either signed off around sundown or their reception weakened miserably. Having to depend upon good weather to get WLS in Chicago at night usually turned out well enough though.

Somehow I missed 4-tracks, but I went through the rest of the progression.

My mother's brother had an old VW Bug and in between the front seats under the dash he had an actual record player for 45's ( bet some of you don't know)...and had some type of shock absorption that it played very well without skips. How about AC's as an option in all cars..

Me and my brother helped my dad restore a 72 VW Superbeetle Champange edition (it was either a 72 or 76.. we restored a few VWs and my memory sucks). It was the first VW with AC. Never did get the AC running, but she was GORGEOUS after the restoration. One of a kind. Wish we kept it.

All my dad would drive for a work car was Beetles starting in '66. The last one was a '74 gold SunBug Super Beetle. I learn to drive a stick in a Beetle.

I learned to drive a stick in my dads Datsun B210. He had a manual, and my mom had an automatic that they bought at the same time.

But VW;s were so forgiving. I was driving my dads VW bus by the time I got my drivers license.

Yes, now without the Internet and phone, there is no life. All young people are either on the Internet or on the phone playing games. And how many different accessories for phones and ipad. So the son recently ordered a new apple leather ipad mini case.
