yup, computer security and handling of PHI. reminding us all we cant look up our own medical records no matter how badly you want to see whats in there. Stuff I use in my job daily, yet still have to watch the lessons. The slides are amazing too, hackers wearing ski masks at their own computer and the likes.

One of my old clients is an EHR software company. Had to help them with the IT side of their Meaningful Use certification. That sucked more than ISO 9001

Maybe it's just from the vantage point of having written multiple ISO systems, but I don't think ISO is actually that bad.

ISO wasnt too bad. Just making sure everything is covered and pretty much read off a script during the certification. With the Meaningful Use for EHR, I had to do ALOT of research to meet the requirements, implement the requirements (had to have tons of meetings with developers, as well as people on the clinical side to get a grasp of how things worked on their end) and the proctor would make sure everything met the standards. Alot of pressure because if you didnt pass, it cost another 10k to get assessed again

It was 50k for the first assessment, and 10k for re-assesment. It was a small software company that catered to small Occupational Med clinics, so that was a big chuck for them.

Its come a long way. What I hated in AS (same idea, just aerospace) was that you had the basic AS9100 requirements; and then literally every aerospace company had their own (differing) supplemental requirements. So the idea of 1 standard certification taking care of all requirements for customers was a myth. It just meant I had to be aware of more 1-off crap for aerospace primes.
