The New "What did you do with your Z today" (with off topic replies) XXXII

So... this FS price is pretty much spot on with my current Z value plus my build budget. Maybe I should just buy it http://www.the370z.com/370z-sale/128...va-md-24k.html

Sad news, my Z has been in an accident. I dont want to go into details but the insurance adjustor will be checking the car tomorrow. From these pictures do you guys think this will be totaled? I'm not sure if there are damages to the frame/internals.

That sucks!! As far as being totaled, it depends on the adjuster and your states guidelines. Your Z is newish so the damages may not exceed the damage requirements for being totaled, but dont be surprised if it is. Anyway, sorry for the loss!

airbags went off. they will most likely total it from what i've seen before.

could be different depending on the adjuster and insurance company each one is different.

Airbags popped, it's toast.

Sorry to hear about it, hope you are okay.

I am okay.

Do you guys have any advice on getting the most amount of money back from insurance for the totaled car?

If you have a beater car, strap a 8×4 backed with thick foam onto its bumper and drive into the impacted side of the Z a couple times at ab 5 mph. Does the trick every time.

It depends on the state and who's at fault. If someone sideswiped you, then it will depend on insurance company and complete condition of the car, all the way down to paint & tires. When my 2012 got totaled, the adjuster gave me credit for newish tires, and I lost a couple of bucks because of paint swirls.

If the state says 'you must be made whole', that could include diminished value. Do some research on what your car is worth (before the accident) and then you will have a ballpark idea of value. Be ready to prove higher value in case the insurance company lowballs you.

One main thing to realize is that you never take their first offer... never..

Whatever they tell you, be polite and professional and tell them it is too low of an offer.

Once you play this game and reach an impasse, ask to speak to the adjusters manager.

Do some homework, have some facts and info to tell them and keep telling them that you can’t settle for their offered amount.

You have to play them. Their job is to settle with you for as low as possible of a number...
