The New "What did you do with your Z today" (with off topic replies) XXXII

Only 274 New A/T Z’s in the US on Autotrader, 54 within 300mi. The numbers are dwindling down/ though every dealership may not list theirs here...I’ve been watching the numbers

That's all I found were A/T cars when I was looking. I really wanted either a black cherry or a midnight blue pearl, but the only ones I found were A/T. and damn few options.

I'm happy with my magma red one... I just don't drive it every day.

Oh God.... I've turned into one of those people........ "I won't drive my car unless it's bright sunshine and no rain in the forecast for days"........

I think he's saying he wants an A/T. It's ok - we accept people of alternate lifestyles here.

Unhappy

It's funny that EW and me are rep capped at 2 different numbers. Thought that it would be the same number at least.

Being an old guy I just assumed everyone can drive a stick.
Until I was on this forum I did not relise what a big deal it is.I must be the only one who looked for an AT car.The car has a level 10 built transmission and shifts fast.
Learned to drive 3 on the tree.Drove over the road for years(15 speed).Have 66 Vette with stick.
Do not want to open this debate again. Now days with the modern transmissions if you want to go fast you get AT.You want to have fun you get a stick.

In all seriousness, my 350 was an AT and it was great. But that won't stop me from trolling occasionally, because some people get so upset about it. Always brings a smile to my face

Have a Maserati spider with dual clutch F1 type transmission.Love how that car shifts and sounds. Extremely expensive car to maintain.Clutches need to be replaced at least every 30k.Clutch failure at 10k is not uncommon.

Same here... 3 on the tree of my grandfather's old farm truck. Up and down that dirt road hoping I could shift all 3. Good memories.

I learned to drive on a 4 speed 240Z, the instructions were 'rev it to 3 grand and dump the clutch'

Next car was a Chrysler Windsor with 'Fluiddrive'... it had 3 pedals and you could column shift it (3 on the tree) or you could drive it like an automatic... really strange, but handy when one hand was full....

Weird, I've never heard of Fluiddrive until now. Pretty interesting.

Being a kid that hung around and worked at gas stations in the 60s / 70s in the " Motor City " and across the river from Windsor, I've never heard of the Chrysler Windsor or remember that trans and that was before I started smoking weed

You have never driven a stick until you have driven 3 on the tree. Hanging up the gears going from 1st to 2nd or was it 2nd to 3rd was always fun. I don't remember. Pull over, pop the hood, and unfunk it at the column linkage. So much fun.

Default Overdrive

This is another one that kids can't do in vintage cars.Put the car in Overdrive.(Some cars had this factory but a lot of vintage cars had overdrive boxes added)
Push in overdrive knob.Back off accelerator.Push accelerator all the way down.Get up to your speed and back off accelerator. Now overdrive is engaged.
