Go to Orvis store. Ask to learn some of the basics. They will take you outside and teach you. No charge. Many of their stores offer free lessons on a regular schedule and some will even have outings that get you out on the water. All free. You don't have to buy anything.

Their products are expensive. But the customer service is tremendous. Most of their rods have a 25 year no-questions-asked warranty. The warranty on the rod I just bought even includes a 48 hour turnaround. My buddy had one that was 24 years old and the Orvis guide he was with told him to run over it with his truck and get a new one that is far superior. They rebuilt my reel internals when I let some saltwater get inside and replaced the damaged footing from when I dropped it - cost me $30 including shipping both ways.

Going through a bunch of my dads crap. Unreal how stuff seems to multiply. I clean a spot and turn around and more stuff pops up where I just cleaned.

used to be in like jr high and high school.

i actually would modify the kits. like take a silver ado then custom body drop and bag it. make my own frames and shave door handles, front end swaps, tail light shaves, suicide doors etc...

would mix like 3 kits to make one awesome one.

kinda miss that. may have to get back into it.

How about you take up interest in WWII models! Add to that making your own trees and rocks, I have the molds for them! I also have ~50 models from warships to planes to dead german figures

haha that sounds awesome however idk if i would get into that as deep as i did and used to be into car models.

painting was always my issue. i could fabricate all this crazy stuff then i would just screw up the paint job and get frustrated.

That would have been awesome! I ended up in metallurgy and then machined metals class at the trade school. We got to go there for half the day instead of regular bs classes at school

yea sad part is i had 3 years of doing CAD work and did nothing with any of that knowledge.

I did ~15 yrs in the aerospace machining world and now have a cushy office job doing grunt level IT work. I love it.

i did all that in HS, drank for 4 years, got accepted to law school but passed on it, now have a cushy office job as well.

wish i went the lawyer route now though. i see the nonsense money my buddy pulls in. his wife somehow believes he only makes the salary on paper for the IRS
