Well the car hasn't been run in several months, so it's definitely not wet. Dry but greasy I guess is the best way to describe it. Very similar to what my steering rack looked like before I had it replaced.

If that is the valve cover gasket. It might had some seepage.

Catch cans are definitely on the list. Almost bought those $60 ones in the FS section. But I want the Arc radiator reservoir combo

Inspecting closer, the residue definitely appears to be in higher concentration around the rocker cover and gasket (Items #15 and 16 on page EM-51 in the 2011 FSM) rather than the PVC hoses. You just might need to tighten down on the valve covers a little bit.

Be sure you have the proper spark plug socket.
