Uggg, only 10000 over 48 hours?! I CANNOT LIVE LIKE THIS!
|
Yeah it sucks, and I will be at the end of the line. :(
Though I have been reading and it seems that a few hours after the update is released we can just download the official one from "unofficial" places and it is the same. Not sure on this 100% as this is my first go around with Android, but if true I might do this so I do not have to wait. |
Well if Im lucky they will do day-1 buyers first :-p
BTW, thats what I did for 2.0.1 - got tired of waiting, and I downloaded the update from an unofficial source. It worked like a champ. |
Google issues statement on Nexus One sales, touts Android Market's 30,000 apps -- Engadget
Wow, I had no idea how many DROIDS were on the market....and its even more than this number now of course. |
Yeah, saw that last night, one reason I am looking for 2.1 so I can just update myself since I was near 1 million.
If anyone finds an official download let me know so I can update please. :) |
Haha yeah I was thinking about waiting till my phone wants to update on its own... now I'm not so sure lol
|
Yeah, it is going to take at least 5 groups to get through all the droid users, which for each group is a few days.
|
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, maybe next week.

*screeching voice* i'm in your closet............LET'S FIGHT!!!!
this sucks! |
I just got the Droid yesterday (coming from a BB curve) and I'm having some issues with it taking a while to do anything..sometimes it will tell me "no connection, retry" and when trying to access facebook, It seems like it won't let me view my actual profile. If I click on profile, it says "content empty", "an error has occurred while fetching data no socket" and "an error has occurred while fetching data null" Very frustrating...My daughter and I were up for renewal and so we did the buy one get one free thing-- Now I'm wondering if I made a mistake.
If anyone has experienced these errors, I would love to know how to fix them. I tried searching but nothing came up. Thanks much!!! |
Are you getting 3G then full bars in the top notification bar?
Have not seen that error, you might have gotten a bad phone, is your daughter having the same issue as your phone or is hers working fine? |

I wondered if maybe I am just not in a good 3G coverage area. I asked about that when I was in there and she said where I lived was fine. But sometimes, even when I am browsing through the market looking at the applications, I get that little circular icon and it says "loading...." and it takes 15-30 seconds to then show additional applications. Same goes for trying to get to a webpage. I was under the impression it was quite fast compared to the BB and it seems about the same or even slower so far. So I'm confused and a bit frustrated. I'll have to ask her how hers did today, she isn't home from school yet. It's funny, I only got Facebook to keep tabs on her originally--now I use it quite a bit and it would be one of the apps I use the most, and its the one app that doesn't seem to work right on my phone. Figures. |
3G is your faster data connection, 1x is the slower (more like dial-up) speed.
I normally have between 2-4 bars in Houston and things load fine for me so it does not sound like a network issue. A quick Google search and some people are reporting the same error messages starting yesterday. I unfortunately do not use Facebook very much, have many of the notifications turned off online so not sure how that changes the Android app, but a few I get pop up in the top bar and I just click and they send me to a page to pick what I want to do. You might try uninstalling the app (it comes pre-loaded I believe), and re-downloading from the app store to see if that works. |

Off to google and see if I can figure this out! Thanks again, |
tamz, if you haven't yet, go to the market and look for TasKiller. i get that error from time to time but if i force the program to close it will reset when you open it again and clear the cache, or something along those lines. seems to work for me pretty well. also close any programs you are not using. the only ones i keep running constantly are weatherbug, lookout, facebook, gmail, messaging and settings. if i'm not using it, i close whatever else is open. this can help with those kinds of issues in my experience. if you continue to have a problem, you may want to take it back to verizon and talk to them about it. they may be able to clear some kind of memory that has a fault in it of some kind

Heading to get the taskiller app now! THANK YOU! :) |
there's a free version and a paying version. the free one works just fine for what i use it for just so you know. and yea it really depends on your signal stregnth as to what it does, especially if it's fluctuating greatly. there's a bandwidth tester listed on the top of the last page that i downloaded, works like a champ to see what kind of speeds you are getting. if you are at home and have wifi setup, you should have your phone connected to the wifi link all the time anyway, it's a much faster connection than using 3G usually. though 3G is pretty fast if you have 2 bars or more from what i've seen
|
bump for info on 2.1... anyone know when it drops?
|
I have heard nothing since the last update, seems Verizon (and all networks) are really dropping the ball on these updates.
|
Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|

Good NEWS!
The update is here. You want 2.1? Follow this link for all your install goodness. This will force the OTA (over the air update) so you don't have to wait until the later part of the week! Unflappings :: Android 2.1 for Motorola Droid Download and Install If the download link is down, pm me and I can get you the file! |
it says " 1. Obtain the update from this link" and then there's no link? wtf? looks easy enough if i could get the update.zip file
|
PM sent.
Link is now live |
ok done deal, why is there only 3 home screens tho? also of note, i had a shortcut on my right side home screen to "Gallery", that shortcut no longer works, you will need to go to your all apps menu and move another one to one of your home screens to refresh the link for the new gallery which is pretty slick. pinch to zoom almost does not work with my zagg invisible shield, i've never had a problem with it till now. no big deal tho, i can manage the old way
|
Thanks for the link, very happy to have 2.1 but seems really it is "meh" in the end.
Still only three screens, I need more, it does not seem any faster yet. Even without a screen protector pinch to zoom is not as fluid as on the iPhone. Still need to try the new weather widget and news app. |

Nice, thanks for the link :). Done, and done.
|
Make sure you try out the live wallpapers! You can download some new ones too but the "Neural Network" is pretty slick
|
Neutral Network FTW
|
is there a better phone npow better then the nexus?
|
it depends on what you are looking for, if you want a full physical keyboard, the motodroid is probably the best out there imo. if you don't care anything about a physical keyboard and want something more iphone-ish, the nexus is a good substitute (although it was announced yesterday that verizon will be getting an iphone later this year). also, if you intend to use a lot of media on your phone, the new HTC HD2 on t-mobile's network is pretty sick with a huge hi res screen

good question, i have no idea, it depends what you want
|
something like the nexus... and just as amazing...
