You'll love it. Just have another car on the side (does your fiance have one?) and you'll be just fine.

/\ get used to it.

Happy wife, happy life. Words to live by.

Good luck man, if your wifey has a more practical car, then that pretty much solves the problem since you can always borrow her car in a pinch if needed.

Emailed dealer, told em I going w/the black sport! Emailed insurance, told em fax over the insurance to the dealer! woohoo! Going to pick up tomorrow or sat, gotta arrange with dealer. Dealer offered a pretty fair trade in for my S4, going to take it.

I'll report back sooooooon .....

Ah about cars, yeah we have the "Chrysler wanna-be Bentley" so we can use that in a bind I suppose (though I HATE that car) ...
She's not too thrilled about this car, she hates the way it looks. Says it looks girly and is too mid-life crisis for me...hah ouch right.

I understand where she's comming from, I've had boxy cars (B6 S4, 04 STi, mkII GTi, etc, Acura Legend...). None of those cars are as smooth as the Z!

Never let a woman dictate the cars you can have. A man and his car are a sacred bond. Like a man and his dog. Women cannot stand in the way of it. In any case, congrats! Looking forward to seeing you at the meet next week.

HAHAHA GOT IT!!! WATTTT!!!!! Will post pictures this week/weekend! Awesome, love it. bought with like 50 miles on it, 5yr/75K warranty, stoked! Got a decent price on it too, lots of back and forth.

Goodbye S4, miss you...but not really. heh.

Some nasty blind spots for the driver side left, heh. Car gets lots of looks, I don't really like to be flashy, so something I'll have to get used too, especially when I start tuning, probably only attract more attention.

Going to drive it for the next 6 months bone stock (besides maybe some snow tires/rims), and possibly a clear bra, or whatever people put on the front to help combat rock chips, etc.

After about 6 months (and winter is over), I'll do the first big tune, which gives me plenty of time to research (and set aside funds) for LTH, CB, Intake, ECU, dyno, tune, etc.

Ahhh thanks again for all the help guys - this forum is going to be seeing a lot of me over the lifetime of my Z...

Let the games begin!

PS: These f'n windows commercials where they break into your house to offer you a PC are so stupid. So, um, you have to break into a house, give them 20 PCs to look and give one for free to get people to use your OS ....

OK OK, quick one (from my girls iOS device) heh:

Based on some of the threads I've been reading, and the fact, I've BABIED this car the 1st ~100miles I've driven it and my oil temps were 215~225 all day today (drove a lot) seems like an oil cooler is in my future. I wasn't even driving it hard, at all, never over 4.5K RPM, never over 80MPH....Not a good sign when just buying a car....

Looking at this: STILLEN : STILLEN Oil Cooler Kit The 25 Row one and possibly having the gentz over at Vinny Tens doing the install...Vinny Ten Racing

Congrats!! I go to Performance Motorsport, most of us here do actually. They carry 19R, 25R, and 34R coolers. I went for the 19R personally for $600 (includes oil + filter change). When weather is 70F and less, oil temps do not go above 190-200F. When weather is in the 90s, it does not go above 220F. Remember, anything after 220F and the car begins to retard timing. 280 is limp mode.

Over stock, the 19R is 40F cooler all throughout. I frequently drove at 260F. So, in my opinion, if you don't track the car, the 19R is more than enough, especially for NYC climate. Come by this week to the meet if the weather holds up.

Congrats again, always a pleasure to see someone who's not full of hot air follow through on a purchase.

@Arnold K: Word, checking out the website now. & thanks! Yeah, I'm stoked.
So, you most of the NY/LI guys use Performance Motorsports ehh? Ok, cool. Do you recommend them over Vinny Tens? Do you happen to have experience with both shops? I'm just looking for no-bs guys that'll steer me clear of bad decisions (and/or help educate me) as I modify the car.

For example, when I got my Audi, before I did any real research my mechanic pushed an APR tune on it, not raving, but strongly suggesting that's the next (after CB) bang for my buck mod.

So, I did it, but after a few months of hanging out on audizine I realize that JHM is the leader on the B6 and in fact their tune is the best tune, hands down, plenty of 1/4m times to back it up. JHM's tune far surpasses APR, GIAC, etc.

Well, my tech should have known that info, he's been tuning audis' for years and really, he just didn't know that much outside of the fixing/mechanic stuff.

Anyways, at the end of the day it's my own fault for pulling the trigger on the APR w/out more research.

I will not make rash decisions w/the Z and perform due diligence before buying anything....ok, so back to the oil cooler.

Ok that sounds good. >= 220F retards timing, **** that's good to know. Damn, why the hell is this car having a problem like that..ugh, nevermind, sure they have 100 threads 'bout it. Anyways, I do plan on tracking, not serious, but maybe some autox and 1/8 runs. That's the only reason I picked the larger offering from Stillen.

Regarding Vinny Ten and Performance: the rift between the two shops is huge, as is the drama. I know people that go to both, I have no problem with either. But, I personally know more people who were satisfied with Performance over VTR and so I decided to go there with my 370Z and been happy ever since.

Performance is also a more comfortable location, seats, tables, food, and internet if you need it. Most of us here go there and just hang out often times.

congrats man! Glad you decided to get her.

Clear bra and window tint, 1st two things I did (asap). Paint is soft so you def want to put something on there. (see sig)

as far as oil coolers. Couldn't be happier w/my Z1 34 row cooler w/thermostatic plate.

Right on, looking at the clear bra's now...doesn't seem like the thing I should install myself. Can you recommend an installer? (Edit: never-mind you're in FL, heh).

Cool, thanks for the link to the Z1 34R. I'll definitely consider that.

Interesting - that's a shame. I mean, it'd be cooler if there wasn't any drama...well, I found out about my dealer through Vinny Ten, they recommended Advantage Nissan, which I'm pretty happy with. So, I know they have a relationship.

I would obviously want to goto the tuner that has the best reputation and most satisfied clientele .. but at the same time since my dealer has a relation w/Vt...heh..not sure, will have to call both guys and feel em out.

Thanks for the info guys ...

Now would be a good time to keep your eyes open for someone selling a set of the stock 18" wheels. You can often find them as people upgrade their wheels from the base edition. The stock 18" wheels fit over the sport brakes.

Reason: snow wheels! 18" Blizzaks will make your winter a whole lot more reasonable. 18" snows are a better bet in the winter too. Plus the stock 18" wheels will likely have the senders in place already for the tire pressure warning system. I bought a set of stock 18's two years ago and had them fitted with Blizzaks. My total outlay including wheels & mounting/balancing was about $1500. I've been through a couple of hard winters without much drama (Connecticut), altho I don't put many miles on the Z in the winter.

One nice thing about the sport model is the viscous limited slip differential, which is a real boon in snowy conditions.

Also, I wouldn't worry too much about oil temps, unless you are tracking your car. As soon as you start adding performance (intake, catback, high-flow cats, tune), then you'll probably want the oil cooler. When you do, get one with a thermal plate that closes off the oil cooler at lower temps. Otherwise things will run too cool in the winter, and your gas mileage will suck.

Hope this helps.
