Very helpfull information here
![]() I would lean towards doing it yourself, But if you have NO tools and NO mechanical skills? Then yea find a local member to help so you can do it or have a shop install them for you. AK's Diy is pretty detail so you shouldn't have a problem. The only thing I can't stress enough is to be very carefull in removing and installing the maf sensors. |

Only issue that might cause problem is scratching the bumper and fail Protect your AC lines from damage.

Bro if you can jack your car up and remove the tire (change a flat) you can do the intake install. If you want Stillen but want K&N because of the easy install then just get the Stillen Gen 2 intakes lol

If you're not comfortable with working on it yourself, have someone qualified to do it. It seems like you've never done this sort of thing before. It's really not that hard to install the gen 3's, but you can mess up something if you're not carefull. Something as simple as installing the maf sensor to the new tubes for example. I don't want to scare you, but you could end up paying a lot more than $175 if you mess up. Only you can decide if it's within your abilities. The bumper removal is probably the easiest part of the install.

I would like to do it myself but like you guys have mentioned it might be too much. AK wrapped 3M around the AC wires if I remember correctly. Anyone else do this??

The small hose that comes with the G3's is longer than needed for the connections to the manifold breathers. Just take the extra, slit it down the length and zip tie it on the ac lines.

Sweet. Thanks man. Hey those of you who have the G3s. Did you notice a huge drop in mpg or not really? I feel like a bitch asking about conserving gas but I was just wondering. Thanks

I don't have the Stillen CAI, I have the Takeda one, which is similar, and I didn't notice any drop. I can almost average 30 mpg on the highway still.
Installing my CAI was my first mod ever, and I had to go out to buy a wrench set because I had nothing but an adjustable wrench which was unable to get the bolts at the bracing. Of all the engine mods to do, this'd be the easiest. You could always ask a friend for help and tools. Then again, if you actually feel uneasy working on your car, then definitely take it too a shop. You'd be kicking yourself pretty hard if you end up scratching your bumper or braking a MAF sensor just to save a hundred buks or so.

I've noticed that people usually lift their cars when removing the bumper. Do I HAVE to life the car if I want to remove the bumper?

To take the front fascia off you have to take off the engine undershroud plastic piece. I know at least on a Nismo to take off the undershroud you have to get the front end in the air.

Super easy to install the Stillen intakes. It was the first mod I installed. I have never worked on cars before so I brought a 6 pack of beer over to my friends house and he helped me. Took us an hour to get it installed. Follow the DIY here on the forums and it is really really easy.

Thanks guys! I'm ordering my g3s tomorrow and gonna install them at a shop after my finals finish. I would prefer to do it at a shop cuz if for whatever reason they mess up i can take my car back and fix the problem with them. Then in 2 months I'm gonna install the berk exhaust!!

I have a 2010 370 Z NISMO and have the factory filters in it now. I tried K&N filters in my other vehicle and it screwed up the electronic O2 cesors and other things which ended up costin me a small fortune to fix.
What I would like to know is if there are any AWESOME air intakes that can be installed that wont hurt any censors. I realize it will void the factory warantee however I never will sell my car so I am not worried about isseus with the warantee. Can anyone recomend a cold air intake system that is going to boost HP a little and or be O2 censor/electronic friendly? Thanks for reading..... NCJ |
