Tony:

I sent you a PM and I have a quick question, but answer at your leisure as I am not in a hurry. Anyone else can feel free to provide feedback as well.

Has anyone done an HFC without the material inside? I have heard of folks hollowing out stock CATs for inspection purposes, so this has been on my mind for a while. Alternatively, can an HFC withstand the EGT associated with TT/SC applications?

I don't know of anyone doing that (that's posted on here) I'm not sure if thats a service FI could do to their own cats, or if you'd have to take them to a shop later on to core out like that.

If you're looking for looks alone, and not smog testing, you might want to look into FI's Resonated Test Pipes, they'll have a chamber in them just like HFC's will, you could "claim" they are HFC's.

FI HFC:

FI RTP:

http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/o...ntions/RTP.jpg

Unless someone has seriously done their research, I doubt they'll be able to visually notice a difference.

As for HFC's and TT/SC applications, I believe they do hold up, but you need to find out what type of core they are as there are 2, Metallic, and Ceramic cores. IIRC Metallic cores will eventually rust out/fail so make sure you're using a Ceramic core.

Anyone else heard otherwise? Do I have them switched?

Guess the best thing to do is call Tony. Guess I will do that right now...........

You won't be disappointed. The F.I. TDX is awesome. It really wakes the Z up, as well as making it sound like a sports car like it should.........

brucelidat 11-10-2011 04:28 PM

well, i won't really have a before and after for the tune since I am getting it done right after the install, but I will give my impessions of it overall

I'll try to remember to bring my camera. Wonder if it'll be weird for Tony and his crew if I am snapping shots with my dslr while they work, haha.

Had my UpRev tune done the other night after install of the exhaust and HFCs. Check out the attached thread for the print out of numbers and some pics/video.

http://www.the370z.com/tuning/45093-...o-results.html

Max power = 311.96
Max torque = 251.55

SAE numbers can be found also a little down on the page of the attached link.

Well, I am in the process of installing my FI HFCs and FI cat back exhaust. Everything is going great but I cannot budge the driver's side manifold demon bolt. I have soaked it numerous times with penetrating oil, etc. and we are using a breaker bar for leverage. Been working at it for 2 days now. Broke some tools in the process.
My neighbor is a mechanic and he is going to bring an impact gun home tomorrow as he thinks this is the only option. I have removed the o2 sensor that's in the driver's side cat. I know that people have said not to use an impact gun due to the vibration damaging the manifold o2 sensor. Just don't know what to do...
Has anyone used an impact gun to remove these demon bolts and have you had any issues with you o2 sensors as a result? Thanks in advance.

happytheman 11-13-2011 04:57 PM

Ok, I read through about the first 30+ pages and didn't want to read through the remaining 400+ to see if anyone asked these questions:

1. If I order the FI TDX w 12" resonators, can I also order a set of 18" resonators at the same time for use if I find the 12" too loud?

2. How difficult is it to remove the X pipe by yourself while using a coupla jack stands and common household wrenches (and little experience)?

Forgive me if these questions have been pounded into the sand already. :)

How long have you let the Penetrating oil set? Sometimes you need to keep applying it for up to 24 hours to get it fully soaked in. Give it a bit of time to work, maybe a larger breaker bar is needed?

Also, it's not best to use an impact wrench, but if you don't have a choice, you don't have a choice. Might want to price a new o2 sensor though just in case..

1. You'd have to order a separate X pipe with 18" resonators and have them swapped out. You can't just swap out the resonators themselves.

2. Not hard at all. The X pipe is square in the middle of the vehicle so if your car is lifted on stands all the way around it's literally only 8 bolts.

I know that this was already answered for you. However, I wanted to answer you as well.

1. You can order another center X Pipe at the same time with 18" resonators in it. To be clear, you will then have one exhaust system with (2) X Pipes.

2. Once your exhaust is installed the center X Pipe can be swapped out in less than 15 minutes. It is real easy to do and an extra set of hands will make your job easier.

If you have any further questions or would like to place an order, please do not hesitate to call me directly...

Thank you, Tony

Hello Gentelmen,

I just wanted to pass by this thread to say that I used to have a fast intention exhaust but sold it to a friend (wanted to go back to stock for personal reasons "at that time"), I just wanna tell ppl that who ever wanna buy an exhaust and still torn what exhaust you wanna buy, then this is your exhaust. I had a friend that have a gtr with Amuse exhaust and when he heard my car with fast intention exhaust, he drooled really hard and asked me if that compnay make any exhaust for GTR.. he got really crazy when i said no LOL

I guarranty you that you will love fast intention exhaust!

A question for Tony, Im sorry if this question sound silly but I cant really read the last 100 pages to see what im looking for,

Is there any new product in work?? like Turbo catback? redisgning the exhaust to enliminate the hiss?... etc etc etc

Best regards.

Exhaust in on, sounds great. Couldn't do the tune, though. There's no map for my car yet, it's too new. Seb emailed my info to uprev so I should be going back in 2 weeks to do it. I pulled 291 hp pre-tune. Seb expects to pull just over 300 after. Will post pics when I get home

brucelidat 11-16-2011 12:16 AM

How do I post pics? Do I need to upload the pics online somewhere first?

Easiest way is to make a photo album here and link the pictures from there.

You linked the webpage for the image, not the image itself. Your links end in .html, You need the link to end in .jpg .

You got 291 with FI Catback and HFCs?

I got 298 with invidia Gemini and art pipes at the same location. Although I did have k and n panel filters as well. just some numbers to think about.

I always wanted to try the FI exhaust. The dual muffler look I can't get used too.

ART Pipes will give you better numbers than HFC's due to being cat-less. Nothing to impede the flow of gas.

I also did the pulls about 30 min after the install so no time for the ECU to learn. Only did 2 pulls also since they were just baselines before the tune that wasn't bale to happen. Probably could have gotten a little more with a few more pulls. Expecting to be just over 300 after the tune in 2 weeks (hopefully, if Uprev gets the new map or whatever it is they need for mine done) I'm also an auto which they say has a bit more Hp loss through the drivetrain.

I may need your help in 2 weeks with a video post if I remember to bring a better camera record the tune. (forgot my SLR this time so the pics were with my little point and shoot)
