I have the non res cbe but cnt hfc's and the cats are causing me some rasp around 3k-4k rpm and I'm ready to change to the resonated tp's. Haha the hiss is good sometimes, gives people that wtf look on their faces.

a cheap route for good audio/video quality is the flip ultra hd! i use it all the time for concerts and everything, works great. i just bought a gopro this weekend, to be honest im very disappointed and the sound sucks balls. i'm gonna be returning it next weekend.

Wait wait, before you return it...

A. What were you recording?
B. Which door did you have on the back? (The solid one of the one with holes?)

Glokwork 10-25-2011 06:08 PM

I was recording exhaust sound clips...as soon as the engine starts there is this terrible low crackling buzzing type sound that is constant until the engine is shut off. This was using the door with the slots and didn't have any wind noise up to 50mph.

Where was it mounted?

Do you have the vid uploaded so I can hear it?

Glokwork 10-25-2011 06:11 PM

I tried three mounts, first on the dummy foglight, then right above the burger on the rear and last on the driver quarter panel right at the rear wheel. I'll start uploading the last vid since it's the shortest.

Hmm, if it's the sound I'm thinking of, it may just be the case vibrating from your non resonated exhaust... I sometimes have a little rattling sound when I have it on the rear bumper and it's a bumpy road...

Glokwork 10-25-2011 06:15 PM

I think the exhaust tone is causing the sound as well, but everywhere I've put it including on the ground behind it, I get that shitty sound.

Maybe you might wanna see if the door is snapped on tight enough??

I checked the whole case out and the latched secured down very tight. Recorded in 60fps and playback is messed up, converting over to 30fps now then I'll upload.

LoL Yeah, that's the sound I thought you were talking about. Nothing wrong with your gopro, mine does the same thing... You'll hear it in this vid pretty good.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxvEszpGDoE

I think it has to due with harmonics from the exhaust, that's all since it's only apparent when the exhaust is in low rpms...

Also, be kinda weary about that mounting spot as you'll see with mine...

 Dammit, I thought that only meant if other sites tried to use it. Ugh, now I need to go through and re-edit them all. :icon17:

But your noise isn't something wrong, that's just the nature of gopro's with our exhaust... Not sure if any other cam would have better results if placed in similar locations. But if you're sure about taking it, try out another HD cam and let me know what you think.

I'm looking into getting a 2nd gopro so I can film more than 1 angle per run.

that's weird i never noticed it before on your vids but i see what you mean now. the angle from the dummy foglight was awesome but looks like anything near the rear of the car is gonna have shitty audio. i might hang on to it for a couple weeks and get some footage then return it, i gotta build up the turbo fund

:rofl2: A $270 camera isn't gonna help that fund too much... might get you a few spark plugs haha.

But yeah, anywhere on the rear bumper and you're gonna get it, haven't noticed it whenever I have it mounted on the side windows. That's my usual mount. Which is why I want another, then I can do different views on the same ride. The goal is to have several hahaha Then piece them all together to make better canyon run vids...

hahaha i did the same to a 90's boosted civic on my way home yesterday. when i downshifted his eyes popped open in shock. then i smoked him off the line at the following redlight when he thought his 4-banger could hold up. thats 3 boosted civics i've beat so far. only one to get me had 450 whp and drag radials on it and he my front tires were at the back of his door at the line at 1/8 mile. give me a quarter and hes done :driving:

i took an extra careful listen on my dfrive home last nite and from 3-4K rpm i hear nothing but beatiful exhaust tones. only "off" sound i get is that vibration i was talking about at around 2500-3000 rpm and its not bad at all.

Have you checked to make sure every bolt was tightened down, and that under the car the pipes aren't too close to a frame support? If you can get it on a lift and check when the pipes are warm to make sure there is enough clearance...

i checked the bolts after i put 200 miles on the set up they were all good. im bout to check again now that already almost have 900 miles on it lol its not like a bad sound or vibration i think its just the way it is.

It could be something that has nothing to do with the exhaust itself, just some part that isn't tight that rattles due to you Non-Res f00l's :rofl2:

I like how you politely omitted the fact of how it 'sucks in' when you 'get off' the throttle to keep it PG. :rofl2:

My SS non-res is on and oh man is this thing ridiculous. 3k rpms is the g-spot! Its so bassy and mean, makes the Z sound like a muscle car and I can definitely feel some more mid and high-range power.

Tony - beautiful product, thanks!

I'll post some pics and a vid in a day or so.

I am pleased to hear that you are happy with it. The non resonated is much more aggressive than the resonated options, especially the 18". This is why we have many options, so we can appeal to as many people as possible.

Once the exhaust breaks in it will quiet down about 10%. As you put some miles on it you will also feel more of the performance increase.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me directly...

Thank you, Tony

MoChu 10-30-2011 02:01 PM

Price for 12" resonated shipped to 80234? Do u have it in stock?

HDyoyo 10-30-2011 03:39 PM

Im thinking about going with the FI but i didnt like hissing sound in the video, does the size of the resonator make a difference in that hissing sound???

im not sure if the size of the resonators change the hissing sound but i have no resonators and love the hiss. just another addition to how mean this exhaust sounds.

Maybe I gotta hear the hiss for myself.... around how much $$$ to get the FI installed?

I haven't heard any hiss yet, it just sounds F$#king gnarly and mean and when you get back fire/exhaust gargle when letting off its beautiful!

Today it felt more powerful too :)

The ONLY downside to non-res is that when you're crusing on the highway at about 75-80, any moderate increase in throttle (to accelerate or climb) is noticeable and creates drone. But if you're maintaining speed and are on flat ground it's not really noticeable.

If you were to get resonated I'd say get the 12 for this system really sounds great when loud. Even though I just installed it, I've already had 4 glorious hours of drive time with it.

Non-res is really something special

No, the hissing comes from the X pipe I believe, Tony correct me if I'm wrong?? It's the backpressure evening out.

:iagree: Let's you know there's power there. Plus it almost sounds like a BOV venting. Makes the boosted guys do a doubletake. To me it sounds like a pissed off cobra ready to strike. :stirthepot:

If you do it yourself, which is certainly possible... Free, at tony's shop, it can be installed as well at a discount. Or most shops will charge you 1-2 hours for labor, whatever their rate is.
