Specialty Z got my ROM in (my car was too new when I went in like 10 days ago) and I am confirmed for the Uprev tune tomorrow. Just put some K&N drop ins yesterday too (hoping for mileage improvement more then hp with those) so we"ll see how it goes. Hoping to see 305ish whp. Will update afterward and try to remember to take video.

Awesome, post the update, video and #### =o)

Just got back from the Uprev tune. I'm at 300wp, 249 wtq. My baseline with mods before tune was 291 whp, 246 wtq. Changing between maps is super simple and the valet and anti-theft maps seem pretty cool. I will try out the fuel economy map as well and see if it makes much difference. Will post a video when I have the chance. I am too lazy to scan my dynochart so I will post it when Seb emails the jpeg to me.

brucelidat 11-26-2011 04:54 PM

So I have a few hundred miles with the exhaust and HFCs now. There is some drone (they told em there would be with the auto), but it's not too bad and you can pretty much neutralize it if you drive it in manual mode. So when driving conditions cause there to be a bit more drone than normal, I just shift to M and am fine. Car feels good, a bit lighter and more responsive. I got the 18" resonators and the resonated HFCs for the quietest option. The car is pretty loud in the morning with a cold start, but is much quieter during cruising and loud (in a good way) when WOT. SO other than the cold start and some rumble in the low RPMs, it's pretty stealthy until you open her up. If you want to be super stealthy, Tony said the HFCs are probably attributig to 50%+ of the noise.

If you don't mind me asking who did your tune and were you running lean or rich before? The tune numbers seem very conservative imo

SpecialtyZ is the tune shop. Tony at FI also said the autos have a bit more drivetrain hp loss, but this is a bit lower than I expected (was hoping for around 305) SpecialtyZ told me the tune was for everything to be efficient and to get performance but keep things safe so maybe it could be more aggressive, but I doubt I will feel a 4 hp difference anyway. I figure a stock A7 usually dynos around 270-275 so picking up 25-30 hp isn't far off from my expectations. I got my HFCs used form a forum member if that makes any difference though Tony said they were functionally fine ( a little ugly from some extra exterior welding not done by FI). Also, temps were probably in the 80s.

The hp numbers from baseline and after tune, vary drastically from dyno to dyno. I was just wondering about the 9 hp gain, it seemed it was definitely on the conservative side. Been talking to Seb about some parts, seems like a great place to me.

brucelidat 11-26-2011 06:05 PM

The baseline was also from 10 days ago when i went in for the tune but they didn't have a ROM for my car yet. That could be a factor. Rode in Seb's tt 370z. Man, that shove sou into your seat, pretty awesome. 12k though....

Glokwork 11-26-2011 06:09 PM

I bet that was a sweet ride man. You can always get him to adjust the tune if you want more power. I'm running 26 degrees and picked up 31whp from the tune

brucelidat 11-26-2011 06:13 PM

Yeah, I'm good with the power. A few more HP will look good in my sig, but I doubt I'd feel it. I think I;m pretty much done for power mods unless I somehow come into a lot of extra cash and decide to go SC.

That is awesome. I have almost the same setup as yours. I went with F.I. Non-res HFC and F.I. TDX CBE SS /w 18" Res.

Do you still have stock intake?

370Z JT 11-26-2011 07:06 PM

Didn't know SZ opens on Sat. That's where I got my tune as well.

They usually don't, but since I had already gone once and we couldn't do it, he did it on a Sat for me.

Seb@SZ 11-26-2011 11:14 PM

Sorry for keeping you waiting Lidat.

CB1 11-27-2011 11:09 AM

I just finished installing my HFC and exhaust. Does anyone know how long I need to wait for the high temp RTC to cure for the HFCs? It says 24 hours or longer depending on how cold the ambient temprature is. I can't imagine Tony waits this long while his customers are getting their installs.
Thanks in advance.

Footloose301 11-27-2011 11:17 AM

I waited 26hrs or so but my friend uses it all the time and said 1 hour is fine. Just use a breaker bar to tighten everything down on the exhaust so there's no leaks

CB1 11-27-2011 11:41 AM

It's been 16 hours since I did it... I'll probably wait until tomorrow after I get home from work to start it. It's raining here, so I'm in no real hurry. I used a 3/8" torque wrench thats 14" long to tighten everything. More than 50-60 ft lbs. I tightened everything as much as I could, hopefully thats enough... Thanks for the reply.

Doug&Michelle 11-27-2011 01:13 PM

Anyone know what number is up next from Tony?

I am not currently in the shop, however I know that we have shipped over the 400 mark.

For what it is worth, I am still currently on track to ship everyones system within their original estimated shipping window.

Everyones patience is greatly appreciated...

Thank you, Tony

Doug&Michelle 11-28-2011 08:00 AM

Thanks Tony. Sounds like it's time for me to put her up on jack stands, start soaking down and taking off the old exhaust. Won't be long now! 403!

It shouldn't be too much longer. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to ask...

Thank you, Tony

so I was cleaning the car when I noticed that my left exhaust is abit lower than the one on the right so I went checking.

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b..._0258Large.jpg

it broke right off. I don't know how long this has been like this since I only really noticed it now.

I hope I can go to tom on saturday to get it welded :shakes head:

This is very rare but has happened a few other times over the years. Maybe 5 or so that i can remember out of thousands of systems. Not bad odds but I always hate to see it, even when it is rare like this. If you were local I could fix it in five minutes.

It looks like it broke off on one side of the weld opposed to down the middle. Sometimes if a lot of stress is put on a weld the tubing that it is welded to will give out. Very hard track driving can cause this.

Whoever you decide to have fix it in Belgium tell them to do it like this.

-Support the muffler section back up in the exhaust cutout where you want it to live.

-With the hanger in the rubber, pre-load it by pulling down on it a little. This will allot for the weight of the muffler once it is welded. If you just rest it against the tip where it was and weld it, once the support under the muffler is removed, the weight of the muffler will cause it to sag a little lower than the other side.

-Weld the hanger down the rear side (closest to the back of the tip) and also across the bottom.

Good luck and If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask me...

Thank you, Tony

How do i order a FI exhaust with v-band clamps, unpolished, and no oversize tips?

Volk Z 11-30-2011 10:47 AM

Hey Tony, would there be anyway to get the Carbon exhaust for the 370Z with Titanium tips? I would have no problem paying more... :)

Thank you!

Good thing you have that Juke!

Doug&Michelle 11-30-2011 12:01 PM

Not yet. Should be any day now and I just wanted to be ready. As soon as it gets here, I'm slapping it on! Been waiting since September 21st! Tony said they've shipped over the 400 mark and I'm 403.

I was confused for a second.
I thought your exhaust could not be found and I couldn't figure out why you'd be excited about it.

Thanks, Tony

I can speak for the same exceptional customer service from Tony. I've had my non-res for 5 months and I get so many compliments. The sound is intoxicating and the power difference is great. It took about 500 miles for the ECU to retune itself (at least on my car it did). But, the difference is very noticeable in that it's very smooth throughout the RPM band. The wait is well worth it, believe me.

Thanks to Tony for the great service and an exceptional product! :driving:

I am number 396 and I have had my exhaust in for a week now. I got the 18" res w/ ss mufflers. The fitment is perfect and installation was pretty simple. Everyone that has seen it says it both looks and sounds great. I already had berk HFCs and they work well together. It turned some heads today at the Nissan dealership when I took it in for an oil change too. I know it has been said but the wait is worth it. Keep up the good work, Tony.

So I finally got my HFCs and exhaust installed. Fitment and sound is unbelievable!!! Tony's customer service is 1st class. I have sent him numerous emails and called him many times. Every time he has had time to talk to me, give me advice and answer my emails. I wish more companies had service like Fast Intensions...
During the process I disconnected my negative terminal to my battary (this was oveer the course of a couple weeks, I just took my time as the weather sucks here...).
When I was done with the install I reconnected the battary and now I have the Service Engine Soon light on. I have tried to clear the code with the manual gas pedal method with no luck. I don't want to take it to the dealer cause they'll just charge me to clear it. Is there another way to clear it? Disconnect the negative terminal for a couple minutes and reconnect??? Any ideas would be greatly appriciated! Thanks in advance.
