I use Mothers Chrome polish. I use an old cotton t-shirt to rub it in and to remove the polish. Once polished just upkeep with Windex cleaner.

We are good to go, I spoke with him yesterday on the telephone. I told him that I just needed conformation from you. If you like though you can still call me for the peace of mind...

Thanks, Tony

If you really want to make the tips look nice, go to a hardware store and get a bag of 0000 steel wool. It's a really fine grade wool that is used for polishing metal and wood finishing (I use it for polishing metal guitar frets). The polish alone won't cut through that gold tarnish. It sounds crazy to use steel wool, like it will scratch up the metal, but it really won't. Here is a picture of a bike I sold recently that was 12 years old. The entire exhaust was gold and spotty and it came out looking new. Used the 0000 steel wool and Mother's polish, followed by an old t-shirt to clean up all the polish and buff everything to a shine.

:iagree: In the day when cars had chrome bumpers I used SOS pads to clean them. I've also used SOS pads on my Harley pipes. It will not scratch the chrome.

PS: Nice bike!

Not actually with the exhaust itself, but there's a resonance at 2500-3000 RPM that just makes everything in the car rattle and vibrate. Hopefully it's just a result of the weather getting cold around here and it will go away in the spring.
Other than that, my FI exhaust still makes me giddy when I start it up in the morning!

Did your problem ever get resolved?

Not too worried about it. It's some hatch plastic vibrating, and I'm over it!

Yeah, I have the same 'problem' I just turn my stereo up.

Honestly though, not sure how you could 'solve' it. Harmonic resonance is gonna be there like it or not... I just look at it as yet another way that i can feel the power.

I know you are coming up this weekend to see Andrew. I told him once he drives your car he will not want to drive his own. The two of us are working together on something that could be big. It could be big for my company, the entire 370 community and another large manufacture.

You might be interested in it as well...

Viera 11-28-2010 06:55 PM

I have a problem. A rust problem. As I was cleaning my exhaust(SS cans), I noticed some rust on the tips. Is it supposed to start rusting this early? I'll post some pics up when I have a chance, but can anyone chime in on this? I am kind of annoyed...

m4a1mustang 11-28-2010 06:57 PM

Rust on the tips? They shouldn't rust at all.

Viera 11-28-2010 07:01 PM

^Then I must be wrong then. It sure does look like rust. I tried spraying it down and wiping it off, but it wouldn't budge.

FERRARI 11-28-2010 07:10 PM

Stainless Steel does not rust...It must be stain

Go pick up a can of something like Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish from your local auto parts store and take that to the tips.

This is how mine looked after a year on the car before I sold them. This is before a good cleaning and polish. You can see areas where carbon dust and road grime have built up on them. With a bit of work you can polish them back to perfection.

Yep, the stainless tips can appear to yellow a bit after some heat cycles, but this can usually be polished out.

m4a1mustang 11-28-2010 07:14 PM

Here's a better pic of what might appear as "rust" at first glance, but it's just road grime and other nasties built up on the leading edge of the cans. It would take a bit of elbow grease, but you can clean and polish them back to perfection.

Viera 11-28-2010 07:42 PM

I appreciate the help you guys. I know before I bought the exhaust it said "stainless steel", therefore it should NOT rust. But then I saw it and was like, wtf is this? It probably is just road grime and whatnot. m4a1mustang, that is pretty much what it looks like on my tips. Sorry, and thanks again folks. :tiphat:
