Hang in there man...well worth the wait. I just finished my install and can't be happier. Just letting her cool down now so I can start her back up and drop the hammer on the way to work. The car sounds sick! Thanks Tony!

There's an orgy in my ears and everyone is invited.

Review

Hi,

here a small review after installing my exhaust:

My configuration:
- TDX cat back exhaust system (polished stainless steel, 18" resonated)
- High flow cats (non polished, non resonated)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++
1. Sound / Performance

The most important thing first :-) It sounds absoluty perfect for me!!!
DEEEEP ROAAWWW in low RPM's and changes his tone in higher RPM's to a
nice racy note. Very aggressive sound without annoying drone just how I
imagined. There is some hissing if you let off the pedal and in the first
moments it's a little bit weird but after some days I liked it very much.
From outside the car you don't notice that very much. The configuration with
the 18'' resonators is very nice, not to loud and not to quiet, perfect for
my ears and taste without the feeling of ghetto tuning.

Regarding the performance:
That didn't play a major role for me, but I don't say no to some gains.
What I noticed surely was that I have to spend more money for fuel, because
I always want to here the exhaust roar, hehe.

=> Points: 10 / 10
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++
2. Quality / Value

The quality of the exhaust is impressive, the material which was used is
absolute great and the welds are looking perfect. The system hadn't any
scratches or dents and was polished like a diamond and that after a long way
to Chile. I was quite a little afraid to touch this piece of jewelry :-)
Any inch of the exhaust is worth the money!!!

=> Points 10 / 10
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++
3. Installation

Because I live in Chile and the local exhausts shops aren't very good, I decided
to install the parts by myself. Huii, these were my first parts I installed on
any of my cars but with the good instructions I hadn't any problems. Only the
catalytic bolts were dificult and I broke them off of the old parts. Finally I
needed 10 hours but only because I did all things slow and double checked every
part. For the final alignment I used some nuts/gaskets on the passenger side to
put this side a little bit down.

=> Points 10 / 10
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++
4. Final thoughts

Hmm, nothing more to say, all went absolutly perfect including the excellent customer
support. All I can say to Tony is a big !!!THANKS!!!!

Alex

It seems that everyone that is having tip alignment issues, it's always the passenger side that is higher. I know Tony said it's like 1 out of like 8 installs, but I wonder why this happens?

I can't wait to hear it next weekend! One thing I wish I was able to do last time was get a feel for the exhaust in person... Maybe this time haha.

I think it is the fact that I am able to tweak things in the install process. The way it has lately here is the driver side needed to come down. Since it is never the same side and every car is different, we do not like to jump the gun and make permanent changes. It is so minor one washer usually fixes it.

ProfessorDave 10-18-2010 02:18 PM

KevinN, what options did you order?

Sorry to hear you won't be needing the exhaust. I had no idea how incomplete my life was until I installed mine!

I want to second this, in my case the driver side had to come down a bit as well. And indeed a couple of washers did the trick...

Finally Installed

Just a brief report on the FI HFC/CBE I recently received from Tony (I was #206). Due to my schedule, I didn't have it installed until yesterday (10/18). It was done by a local (Birmingham, AL) performance exhaust company that I've used for about 20 years to install all of the aftermarket exhaust systems I've bought during that time and their work is top-notch; I've never had a problem with their work over my 20 yrs of doing business with them. (ACME Muffler-(205-324-7697). I'm not in any way affiliated with them; it was only after installation was complete and I had paid my bill that i asked permission to mention their name on this forum, and this info is given only to give forum members in my area a place to use to install an aftermarket exhaust system if they, like me, recognize their mechanical limitations and realize that some repair/ installation work is best left to people who do that for a living.
Total time at the facility was 1:45 minutes and total bill was $149.99. They unpacked my new FI system, and even repacked my old system in the original packing materials so I could keep it and reinstall the original system if the need ever arises.
The FI system is the fourth aftermarket exhaust system I've bought over the years. Previous systems: (1) Flowmaster installed on a 1994 Vette, (2) Borla installed on a 2005 Vette, (3) Magnaflow insalled on a 2006 Vette. Hands down, the FI exhaust is the best aftermarket system I've used. Fit and Finish, quality, sound, and performance are second to none, and the system is actually much better than I had expected. Plus it is the best looking aftermarket system I've seen on a Nismo. Just my two cents.

damn wait is killing me!!!

Diocletian 10-20-2010 07:24 AM

Tony I ordered an exhaust from you a while back, and while I've loved it ever since I had it put in I am now having issues with it.

I got the 12" res with HFC's and right now I have an exhaust leak. The exhaust leak is occuring where the HFC's meet the rest of the exhaust, this is because NO GASKETS WERE USED and high-temp silicon was used to seal it.

I know you gave me gasket for the exhaust to fit to the HFC's but the shop is claiming that no gaskets to connect the HFC's to the headers were included so they used that instead and said it's not uncommon for aftermarket exhaust to not include it.

The shop is going to fix it for free but I know this issue will happen again down the line. Do you have gaskets that you can send to me?

Please let me know, I'm VERY concerned.

I just spent the morning with Tony and his team at F. I. I now have my 18" res CF CBE on my 40th and I am loving it. Tony and his team are great and did a great job mounting the system for me while I watched and bugged them. I love the sound the car makes. I got to drive home on both freeway and a windy road and I really enjoyed listening to it. I looks great on the car. I am very very happy. I thought I was going to pull a cramp in my face when Tony fired it up the first time because I was smiling so big.
Thanks Tony.
Randy

I had the LTH and the 18" CBE on for about 1 month now....absolutely LOVE the sound and performance gains. Dealing with Tony from F.I. was incredible...couldn't ask for better customer service or knowledge! Thanks again Tony!

I'm sorry I didn't want to dig through 340+ pages looking for the answer:

are 12" resonators the only option availible now? I thought I used to see options for 1. none 2. 12" or 3. 18" ?

ProfessorDave 10-28-2010 02:18 PM

Watch out for parking chocks

I was a little over zealous backing into a parking spot today, and scraped the bottom of one of my FI SS mufflers :mad: It was my own fault for trying to get so far into the spot, and for moving a bit too fast. But I wanted to warn my other FI brothers and sisters to watch out - the mufflers will hit the chock before the wheels.

Unless somethings changed, NO. You have 4 options. Non resonated. 12" and 18" resonated and along with all of these Carbon Fiber muffler.

That would be 6 options/combinations on the CBE, right? :tup:

XwChriswX 10-29-2010 02:40 AM

And that's not even including whether or not you keep your stock cats, or go with HFC's or if you pick Tony's favorite, his LTH's! He really enjoys putting them together. :tup: So all in all, there are alot of variations to this exhaust.

Chico370Z 10-29-2010 10:34 AM

Pertaining to the cat back exhaust system itself we have 5 options.

1) Non resonated X (Standard)
2) 12" resonators within the X (+$130)
3) 18" resonators within the X (+$160)
4) Stainless steel mufflers (Standard)
5) Carbon fiber mufflers (+$275)

If you have any further questions or would like to place an order, please do not hesitate to contact me directly...

Thank you, Tony

Almost 3 weeks no Update??:confused::eekdance:

LunaZ 11-02-2010 06:53 AM

I've developed a problem.
Not actually with the exhaust itself, but there's a resonance at 2500-3000 RPM that just makes everything in the car rattle and vibrate. Hopefully it's just a result of the weather getting cold around here and it will go away in the spring.
Other than that, my FI exhaust still makes me giddy when I start it up in the morning!

XwChriswX 11-02-2010 09:24 AM

I'll be getting my GoPro HD here in about 2 weeks, as soon as I get it in my hands I'll be making videos for you guys so you can see the LTH/CBE setup. :tup:
