Congrats to you! Post some pics/vids after installation.

Haha. It really isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

i disagree. stock CBE came off in 5 min. cats took over 2 hours to get off. install of new TP and CBE took 10 min.

If you go into it having all the necessary tools, it's a breeze. It was for me, at least. The demon bolts just snapped off as soon as I started twisting them.

i was in a full garage/fab shop my buddy owns with any tool imaginable and it took 3 of us that long to get those 2 awful bolts to let go. i actually ended up slightly damaging the flange on my one of my cats because of it. damn you Nissan :shakes head:

Chemy 12-11-2012 02:27 PM

You guys have me worried. Just got #612 after a short delay and will try install here in just a few hours. I'm worried about the cats :(

everyones seemed to have been different. most seem to have little to no problems. i may have just been unlucky. it shouldnt worry you. the only hard part is the tighter space to get in there when removing the cats.

please dont let my horror story of bad luck with my cats scare you. just sharing my experience.

24" of extensions and a universal joint for a 1/2" drive and a breaker bar (jack stand handle) and you'll be okay. Oh, and some PB Blaster.

Use a penetrating oil like Kroil or Pblaster on all 6 of the bolts and let it sit for at least an hour.

I actually let the bolts soak overnight with a coating of Kroil. I think it definitely helped as I got both demon bolts off undamaged!

Chemy 12-11-2012 03:24 PM

I work at a Porsche dealership and one of the techs is going to help me :) Never hurts!

I am so tempted to go straight through i can just hear my boss in my head saying you idiot haha

The idea off scaring people is just to tempting.

Thanks I know what they are for however like it or not they still make some difference to the overall sound
There will be a difference between say a hfc and cbc vs a res hcf and 18" res cbe there is no way there wouldn't be a significant sound difference both inside and out.

I was simply asking what people preferred after hearing the the different combinations running, I am sure I am not the only one that’s a little indecisive at to what combination to go with.

Chemy 12-11-2012 08:50 PM

Well i got the install done! maybe an hour and a half. The bolts sure were on there good!! I guess they dont use torque values lol. actually removed the intake tubes and got the demon bolts from the top with a long extension and bar, took maybe 10 minutes.

It is louder than i thought it would be with more drone than expected but its perfect!

I assume this is the hiss people here talk about? When i let off the throttle i hear a hiss almost like a rattle kinda.. put it in air and used my stethascope lol. Sound like its comming from the xpipe. Is this normal?? I would think its from scavenging and a vacum up at the front?

I just have HFCs and I get the rattle when I let off the throttle, too; I characterize it as a rattle as well as opposed to a rasp or hiss. I only notice it when the car is cold.

bdub561 12-11-2012 11:06 PM

A rattle and a hiss are completely different sounds though. If it's rattling, then maybe you should get it checked out lol.

there has been many times i come to a stop sign or red light and make people jump. i still get a kick out of seeing younger kids heads whip around for a second look whenever i get on the gas lol they always look at the car but at idle the exhaust is very tame even with the TPs like mine.

F.I. Inc. 12-13-2012 09:26 AM

Just a little update:

1) An updated list is coming shortly. Currently, we have shipped in to the low 620's. We have sold in to the high 670's.

2) We are starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel with the Twin Turbo kit project. The hang up for the past 3 or so months has been getting the first set of manifolds casted. The good news is they are finally casted and being machined as we speak. Once those bolt on we need to install the clutch, make a few oil lines and fire her up! I am hoping, (fingers crossed) we can start the car before New Years. After start up it is off to the dyno. From there to the drag strip. A full press release will be done for the launch of the kit. From there we will be taking orders. I currently have a (waiting list) of roughly 20 names or so. This is anyone who is seriously interested in purchasing and the first ones I will contact with the press release information right as it gets launched. If you would like to be added to the list, just pm me with your name and telephone number.

3) As for our 2.5" TDX and all related test pipes/high flow cats. As of January 2nd 2013 there will be a (minimal cost) price increase in these products. This is due to operating costs that have gone up over the past few years. This price increase will not include our long tube headers and 3" TT-TDX CBE. If you have an order placed with an invoice date prior to January 2nd, you will not be subject to the new pricing. On a side note, this is not a sales ploy to bait new customers in to purchasing a system to avoid spending more money. This is a friendly heads up because we believe in integrity and honesty. In addition you all as a community have been very loyal to us over the years.

If anyone has any questions on any of this our would like to place an order, please do not hesitate to send me a pm, or feel free to call me directly.

Happy Holidays to everyone and thank you all.

Tony

Haha same with my dog. I've had mine for so long I'm used to the volume but I still want it louder

lemon-fresh 12-14-2012 10:42 AM

I need to not read this thread, the wait is killing me. Especially since when I get it I'll have to wait until spring for the install.

Maybe just staring longingly at the uninstalled exhaust will provide some comfort.

Watch the dyno video on the F.I website. There's a noticable difference

They only have a dyno for hfc not test pipes

bdub561 12-14-2012 06:11 PM

The first part of the video is resonated TP's. Well, exhaust w/ stock cats. Then exhaust with res. TP's and then exhaust with f.i hfc's

If you're worried about sound then watch the video and compare. If you want moar power, i believe the TP's make a couple moar whp.
