I ordered non-res CBE and will be keeping stock cats so I'm curious to know how that would sound.

It's perfect. This what I have with stock cats.

cooltoy 05-28-2015 12:46 AM

I liked mine - 888.

FI should have been engraving the numbers on the exhausts, to keep track.

That's a good idea!

What would be the difference between a non-resonated CBE with resonated test pipes and CBX non-resonated with resonated HFC? I hate the raspy sound. Exhaust is about perfect now with only the FI Non-resonated CBE. If I could get a deeper tone it would be better, plus 7 more hp to boot.

If your looking for a louder and deeper tone I would recommend high flow cats or resonated high flow cats. Resonators will minimize the chance of rasp. Test pipes will be slightly higher pitched in tone, especially when paired with a non-res cat back.

I have a 2012 nismo with Berke HFC's. I like the way it currently sounds but would like a little louder deeper tone . Which exhaust would you recommend and would there be any HP gains over the stock nismo exhaust
Thanks

Leroydsouza 05-30-2015 10:42 AM

Well i have had the nismo and its not really a loud exhaust at all.
I am sure you could gt a much better and deeper sound from the fast intentions.

About gains, the gains are going to be very minimal since you already have the nismo paired with berk hfc's.
If you do buy another exhaust, it will most likely be to change the sound.
As far as i know, fast intentions has the most gains so if ur going to get another exhaust it better damn be a fi.

I think it was 10-12hp gain between the Nismo and FI exhaust. There was a thread on here with the data. Look at the sticky at the top, guy has FI with 18" resonators and FI resonated TP to give you an idea.

jchammond 05-31-2015 04:34 AM

Guy's & Gal's, i haven't read through all of these exhaust comments,,,but i'm wanting to upgrade mine from stock.....i've heard the fast intentions produce good power on dyno.
Also i heard a video clip/on you-tube & it wasn't really that much louder:just a deeper tone. thanx for any input....wish list for later includes GTM Twin SC....thank you for any input.
Also-interested in headers & cat delete pipes....Goal is for a 10sec. 1/4 street ~Z~ without calling the cops everytime i get on the throttle.

Elmo370z 05-31-2015 10:00 AM

They make a TT kit, and recently broke into 10's in an automatic Z

Gtm twin sc seems like a waste of money to me if your looking for power, for the same price you can go TT and do a e-85 conversion and make 670 whp with correct supporting mods on 13 psi. Far as I know I don't know Z34 sc making close to that kind of power.

jchammond 05-31-2015 10:29 AM

Turbos make more torque: I know they make transmission upgrades- but didn't want to over torque it. + TT is a more complex system & cost more.

Research I've done on the GTM twin sc. Puts 550hp & 410tq @ the wheels- through the stock exhaust.,,, I'm thinking just under 12psi boost

Leroydsouza 05-31-2015 10:45 AM

Well has your research given you the answer to the big question.. are u expecting a product from gtm in exchange for money ?!?!?!?

Haha dont hold your breath, i am looking forward to it too..but i aint relying on it

I've only heard of one guy actually installing the GTM twin SC and it only put those type of numbers down on their dyno. Never came close to that power level anywhere else and gave him nothing but problems. He eventually threw in the towel and traded the entire car.

There are no good SC options left. Go with FI for TT and BP for single. AAM makes a decent kit but the FI is better.

jchammond 05-31-2015 11:13 AM

Good Question! I've spoken with a guy that builds them & there is a slight turn around time....they build to fill orders & are behind a bit(so he says)

I'll do some more research: wasn't planning on dropping the $$$ till I have the title in hand... But let me know what y'all's take is on the Fast intentions exhaust

Leroydsouza 05-31-2015 11:19 AM

Go to their site..their description states everything u need to know..but looks like u want the 18 inch resonated..its their least loud exhaust option

jchammond 05-31-2015 11:25 AM

Thanx & my research on the GTM was some time ago/ I know new and improved stuff comes out all the time-bout to look some more. Ty

If you are considering a gtm product, ur research seems pointless
Just search gtm in the search..ull catch up soon

Hey guys lets keep the GTM comparisons out of this vendors thread and on to FI exhaust questions/updates or customer comments.

Thank You. :)

Thanks G! Many goes sideways on many threads.

I'm 594 here. Time sure flies and this thing sells like hotcakes. At first I thought it was too loud because of my wifey's complaint but now have been really used to it. After about two years, the only issue I have is the scraped cans and it was totally my fault.

Zerocool 06-01-2015 09:21 PM

I'm thinking of non resonated cat back with the resonated high flow cats. Think that would satisfy the tone I'm looking for.

Elmo370z 06-01-2015 11:51 PM

I just forgot about my exhaust, i still have 8 weeks or so for it to arrive.

TaroBaapG35 06-02-2015 12:16 PM

Any updates regarding who's the most recent shipped #?

I called yesterday to make a payment on my non-res SS (#1199), and Kevin said they were into the 1160s.

Looks like the 14-16 week range is a good approximation for us. Please post updates if you get billed or shipping confirmations as many of us are curious.

SwissCheese 06-03-2015 09:44 PM

I know this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it now. Do the resonators change the volume of the exhaust on the outside of the car, or just inside the cabin?

cooltoy 06-04-2015 11:47 AM

Outside and inside. Since there is less noise outside, it would be quiter inside.

This is one of the questions I had. The exhaust will be much deeper and smoother.

I finally had the opportunity last Sunday on a Z rally to hear a FI Exhaust 18" resonator and OH....MY ....GOD! Sounds so deep and the perfect dB level. Much louder than stock but no where near that loud Ricer sounds. Just sounds like a high quality exhaust that was meant for a sports car.

I am sold on the FI CBE 18" Res. hands down.:happydance:

1 more thing... the videos online DO NOT do it justice. Must hear it in person like I did. First words you'll say is "oh sh!t" lol

Did the car you listen to have any additional mods on it that would effect the sound you heard? Intakes? High flow cats, ect?

SwissCheese 06-04-2015 08:36 PM

FWIW, I already have FI resonated test pipes and 18" resonated exhaust. The sound is great, and there is absolutely NO rasp. I'm happy with the 18" resonators, but sometimes I wonder if it's worth switching to 12" or even non-res.

I like the tone and sound level, but I don't want to be that guy who wakes all my neighbors up at 6 in the morning when I leave for work.

i'm that guy :bowrofl:

but really you can't go wrong with any variation of FI products. that's one of the best parts about it is that you have many options and combinations to make it suit your wants/needs.

I wish I had a quality camera. As far as I know, I'm the only one here with FI non-res test pipes paired with ARK Grip catback. I have no drone, no rasp... Small amount of hiss on decel. Screams at top end. I can't even describe it.
