Do you still have this exhaust for sale? PM me a quote please.

SS_Firehawk 08-11-2013 01:17 PM

Really guy? Did you have to post the whole thing? You couldn't read the last page or two and see that people are waiting for theirs to be built and delivered? Could have easily helped yourself on this one.

Drone is definitely subjective and many people have different opinions on this! If drone is a concern I would lean more toward the 12" or 18" resonators. It will give you the best of both worlds by keeping drone and rasp to a minimum however still coming to life very nice when you put your foot into it! :twocents:

Leuz 08-13-2013 04:10 PM

I just installed 12'' resonator cf CBE + HFC. To my ears, drone is definitely there when revving. It's pretty silent at cruising speed though. Mine's a DD and I don't mind it, I think my ears just got to used to the stock note which is way too quiet. But if drone is your concern, you might wanna go with 18'' resonators.

I have non res HFC + non res CBE + CF.and i have ZERO rasp!!!

megalapagas 08-15-2013 12:23 AM

Lol you'll never believe this but at one point I never knew the difference between rasp and drone but all I Cared was for the Car to Purr inside the the cabin which then I found out I love drone lmao hahahaha!

On the other hand I swear these next few Hours have been giving me Anxciety Attacks I can't take it anymore!(jk guys) seriously though package is in San Antonio and I'm 4hrs away so I'm sure they'll scan it at 6am central time and maybe by 12-3pm it'll be in my door step, I Swear this is Better than Christmas! xD

peleincubus 08-15-2013 01:17 AM

So the 12" is muffled more then non-res and 18" is even more?

So would it be wrong to say that at idle the 12" and 18" block most noise and when you step on the gas harder you can hear both but the 12" would be louder? Or am I completely off?

megalapagas 08-15-2013 09:49 AM

No your on the right track of things but 12" isn't any comparison to Non resonated. I'm assuming 12" is a little loud deep growl by what I've seen on Youtube. Check out some vids there's a bunch of em now or maybe someone from here with a 12" res' d might chime in here, Good luck with decisions :)

Basically yes. 18 inch resonantors cut down the noise the most, 12 inch cut down a little less and non res doesnt cut anything. That being said I have 18 inch resonators and its definitely not "quiet". At least by my standards. I have k&n drop ins too so maybe that adds a little extra noise. When you get on it hard, regardless of whether you have resonators or not you and everyone around you will hear it:tup:

Sh0velMan 08-15-2013 10:03 AM

The resonators are really to break up the harmonic resonance of the pipes to help with 'drone' and to muffle the high-frequency "buzz" or "rasp" that comes from the high pressure exhaust pulses these cars generate. Without the resonators, you'll have a lot of low frequency "drone" at part throttle and you'll be able to hear the high pitched "rasp" at large throttle openings.

I see a few of the members above have given you very helpful information. If you have any questions at all about the exhaust, please do not hesitate to give me a call.

Thank you, Tony

Agreed I have 18" w/ CF cans and I wouldn't call it quiet. It's a deep sounding exhaust; I love driving to 4k and higher.

I got the cf non res'd CBE and it had very very little to no drone, depending on how sensitive you are to it. I like loud exhausts and this thing sounded great hitting the gas, but cruising at 60 I literally couldn't tell a difference from stock.

Once I put the long tube headers on however... Now it's borderline racecar sounding, with some drone between 2250-2500rpm. Still no rasp though. To be clear, I think of rasp as that high pitched sound when a civic hatchback with a giant fartcan revs their motor at you trying to get you to race lol.

I can't remember if I've posted this video in here, but this was taken with my camera at Zdayz in may. You can see all my mods in my sig.

With my setup (non-res SS + longtubes) the rasp is unbelievable.

It may be that with your full interior + other noise etc that you just can't really hear it. You definitely can in my car.

Huck 08-15-2013 10:43 AM

well too you have the PPE headers and you're SS, both of those things may make some difference, idk.

Go ahead and start massaging your face, cause once you hear that first fire-up and drive home, you won't be able to stop smiling.

:happydance:

I hope no ones exhaust was on that UPS plane that crashed earlier this week. But I doubt these are going the ways of air.

I did lose a few packages on that plane though :ugh:

chrisbeltre 08-16-2013 02:55 PM

Too bad about your packages bro. My prayers to the families of the crew.

Leuz 08-20-2013 09:39 PM

So, this is a video from the first startup after my installation, sorry for the background noise. The first few seconds, where the engine seems to hesitate, is part of a problem described on this forum elsewhere. I will be shooting a better video later (when I fix the car...), for the moment I hope you enjoy this one. Many thanks to Tony, Blake and the F.I. crew. :tiphat:

res HFC + res 18" cf cbe - Does anyone here have an idea/thoughts how this set up sound? I've been browsing posts and following youtube links but can't find any. Thank you. #802

pinoyZ 08-21-2013 10:58 PM

MiStR.NGuYeN whats your number?

axmea? 08-22-2013 02:00 AM

DD the Z for the last 3 months did me in (I gladly lent my DD toyota). Anyone have ringing in their ears as a result of this set up? I have NR HFC and NR CBE and it's plenty loud, I can only imagine how loud it is in Huck's and PFenvy's and others with similar set up. I love mine windows up or down.

megalapagas 08-22-2013 04:54 AM

Non Resd T.P + CF CBE as a DD here and would never trade it for the world :D
