I just have fi non test pipes, When I get bored I blow air through and make noises slight hiss when I run out of breath. Can't wait until mine exhaust comes in the mail 12 res if cat back.

Williamcarl 06-15-2015 01:52 PM

Just ordered my FI SS 18" resonator exhaust. I'm #1249 and now the wait begins. But it's not to bad because I've only had the car a couple months so the time waiting will be spent getting to know my z a little better:driving:

I was in the exact same boat you were in 3 months ago. After about 10 YouTube videos and 2 weeks of research through this thread you'll realize that the "it's not too bad" part was a lie. Congrats on the new purchase, car twins!

Williamcarl 06-15-2015 02:24 PM

Actually I already know it's a lie but I keep trying to convince myself

It says on their website that the resonators don't affect sound outside....only inside. Is that incorrect?

Did they say what build number is going on because i am going a little crazy here ..really.

That does not make sense. The only way for something that is located on the outside of the car to effect the sound on the inside, is to also be louder or quieter on the outside. The only way to effect the sound on the inside without effecting the sound on the outside, is insulation.

If you stand outside and listen to the different resonators, I am sure you will be able to tell the difference in sound level.

I could be wrong.

It's worth the wait :) really it is. It seemed like forever at the time, but looking back, I don't remember the wait anymore.

My son videotaped me passing my wife and him on the road while I was gettin on it hard... after watching that video, I knew I made the best choice. It sounded amazing.

Yeah it's a little loud inside at times but nothing extreme. Raise the revs when it starts to drone and it's not so bad.

Leroy! I've got good news for you.

We're in the process of finishing up your exhaust system this week. Should ship late this week or early next week, right on schedule. I'll email you tracking once UPS picks it up.

Thank you for your business and patience!

- Kevin

Shop put on my non-res cf cbe yesterday. Mechanic had a tough time getting the tips to line up perfectly but after all was said and done this system looks and sounds amazing! The car just roars to life during cold starts and screams at WOT.

Only issue is I notice a rattle around 1200 to 1500 RPM from the passenger side. Maybe somewhere around the x-pipe but not positive. Hard to tell where at exactly but I can hear it pretty constant when I cruise around or rev at that rpm range. I'll have the shop take a look. Just wondering if anyone here had this issue.

Hey,

I ordered the same exhaust, anyway you can share a video of cold start..like from a few feet behind the car?

Haha it is amazing from the inside. After about five seconds the noise reduces dramatically. The initial roar is awesome. Motivates me to get out of bed in the morning. To get a video I would need a friend or remote ignition. I have neither. :( I just relocated to Seattle. Seems like there would be a video on youtube or the forums exhaust sound clip database.

Ah..damn..Yea there is a video or two on youtube (one by RoyaltyB1 is good, but its attached to bumper and the car is in a a parking garage so the sound is amplified..and the other videos are old..)

but thanks. Yea, this car is my DD (But i have sound deadening installed already) so just wanted to ask if its unbearable or not)

Thanks again. I got 2ish weeks left for mine :D

This is my DD too. Not unbearable at all. Its exactly what I wanted. Noticeable and fun stop light to stop light. Quiet and smooth comparable to stock on highways at 60-70. Everyone has different definitions of loud. This exhaust is loud when I want it to be. And its not a farty or civic mod loud. Its an exotic beastly sound. To me, my car now sounds like what a 370Z should sound like.

From what I've heard from you, Royalty & one other member (and of course Kevin @ F.I.) I think I'll keep my order the same (NR CF).

Thanks for the info.!

non-res CF is the way to go. absolutely have loved every minute of mine. order #373 not a moment when it doesn't put a smile on my face......although I swapped for a straight pipe set-up but you can't go wrong with any FI product

enjoy the exhaust brother :tiphat:

FI stainless 18" resonated exhaust for my 370Z

I ordered my FI stainless 18" resonated exhaust invoice # 6491 on March 23, 2015.
Anxiously awaiting any word on possible ship date or anything.....last info was the middle to end of July.

I ordered mine 2 days after you (#1199) and have the same shipping date range.

Leroy's system (#1173) is getting shipped this week. That means there are 26 exhausts yet to be built between ours (not including non-Nissan exhausts and other components like HFC, ect).

If they are doing 5 exhausts a week, which is a complete guess, then it looks like they are right on schedule for mid to end of July.

Can't rush quality, but I'm right there with you in terms of excitement.

twentyinrims 06-19-2015 01:44 PM

Man I'm 1222 and the summer is just coming and gonna be gone before I get mine. Damn...

Elmo370z 06-19-2015 02:57 PM

I ordered mine 24th of march, they quoted me 12-14 weeks

Elmo370z 06-19-2015 03:08 PM

14 weeks is roughly June 30th

Leroydsouza 06-19-2015 03:15 PM

The invoice states the estimated ship date though right ? Mine does..and they matched it

Will update you guys when i get a tracking number

I was quoted Same (6/29-7/14) Ship Date (Order #1185). Last I spoke to Kevin, he informed me that they are on schedule and they should match the ship date.

Leroydsouza 06-19-2015 03:44 PM

Nvm.
Just got the tracking number from Kevin. :D:D:D:D:D

Let see if someone can give me a hand with this haha!! maybe the question is in this thread but this thread already have 320 pages and i dont what to read it all:bowrofl::bowrofl: my question is... What is the difference in whp between the 18"resonated vs the non resonated CBE if someone already make a dyno run between those two... I know the sound are going to be more loud of course hahhaa and more if you have Test Pipes like i have in my Z :p

Thanks!

cooltoy 06-22-2015 10:08 AM

No difference, just sound volume.

Give it a couple of weeks until it quiets down some before you right the review.

Never had an after market exhaust put on a car. But it sounds like your saying the first few weeks sounds different then the broken in sounds. Is it very noticeable? How many miles does it take to break in?

cooltoy 06-29-2015 04:47 PM

I don't know how many kilometers it took, but I drove to work and back 20 minutes each way and it took about two weeks.

At first I was scared that the exhaust was way louder then I wanted, then it got probably 30% quieter.
