Please explain how N/A mods is detrimental to the car without a tune. Bolts-ons on the car won't mess with the car so much where your so lean that its dangerous.
Obviously the car will run better with tune and gain power but your talking about $600 dollars a tune for just N/A mods. If you were F/I, you have to have a tune to run the car. Quote:
But would you pay $600 every time you added a bolt on? All I suggested is that he get all that then tune. Not everyone has $$$$ disposable to shell out for a tune after a $300-500 mod was added.

Yes, agree with your position of get the mods you're going to do, then tune for maximum $$ savings. But remember part of what you're paying for in the tune is the license itself, which UpRev runs $300. Anything beyond that, and you're just paying for dyno and tuning time, so it gets less expensive. If you're really wanting to geek out and go to town, you can also get the Tuner version of UpRev, and you can tweak most things yourself. More expensive route? Absolutely.. but a lot of enthusiasts enjoy learning the details of tuning, and UpRev's tuner version will do just that. It's not the full package that a tuning shop will get, but you have enough leeway to hang yourself if you're not careful. |

you pay a good amount the first time because you pay for the license for the tune and then they have to start from scratch to dyno tune your car after that, if you ever retune, it shouldnt take them that long as they need to tweak the tune vs start from scratch. Now that is unless you go from an NA build to an FI build, then tuning might take longer but still shouldnt be 600-700$ cus you already purchased the license the first time. unless you had a complete overhaul of the engine |
