Default New short block and FI exhaust

OK folks I have a perplexing question that I need answered! Who out there has had their short block replaced and also have the amazing FI exhaust. Here is my question, before my short block was replaced the tips of the FI exhaust stuck out past the bumper to the point where you could almost see the entire Fast Intentions engraving. Now after having the short block done the tips only stick out maybe a 1/2 inch. So I went back to the dealer and we put the car on the lift and there is just no way to get it back to its original position. The tips are centered but the system just seems shorter. I watched them try and try again but no luck. The GM and the tech seem to think that perhaps the replacement block is shorter. So I'm searching for someone else that has gone through this and was wondering what the results are. Crazy I know but I’m stumped.
Tony any ideas what’s going on, I need the tips out more. It looks good but I like the old look better.

I'm by no means a car expert, but if the block was short enough to cause the tailpipe to move what about the transmission and driveshaft? Wouldn't everything else have to be ajusted from their orginal mounting points? Also I'd be concerned that a smaller block wasn't OEM.

yes, the transmission is firmly attached to the car, and the block isn't shorter. If it was, the engine would just sit farther back in the engine bay to mate up to the transmission, but I'm pretty sure Nissan didn't reengineer their block lately.

My FI CBE used to expandand when it was hot. Maybe thats what your noticing? It was around 1/2 in shorter when it was cold.
Just a thought..

I bet when they put the exhaust back in they reversed the pass pipe with the driver side, there is a dot on the drivers side to match up with the dot on the intermediate pipe.

I would look to see if both dots on the driver side are matched up.

Wow...just...wow.

A million things could be at fault, but that is about as far from possible as you can get. That is assuming they put the right engine in, and if they think the block itself was shorter then I may not put that past them.

Well, no two engines are the same, right? So your new engine block just has to be shorter than the the old one.
