Reflections on GTM over the years

Well everybody, I am glad to announce that Sam is actively reading this thread! He just called me and helped elaborate on how to fix the few CELs I have.

Well everybody, I am glad to announce that Sam is actively reading this thread!

He just called me and helped elaborate on how to fix the few CELs I have. Say what you want about GTM, but it seems to be turning around. He earned a few brownie points in my book at least. I am very satisfied.

Whoa! Whats going on here??

The last thing I want to see is members turning on each other for trying to help by either warning others or putting at ease the few waiting members in this bad situation.

Im going to PLEASE ask everyone to keep the discussion civil and not make it personal.

I think there is already plenty of info to make NEW people aware of the issues here and to think twice about going the GTM route.

I again can only hope everyone gets whats owed to them so they can move on.

IF WE can't move passed this I'll just close it.

He will earn mad brownie points when he finishes the group buy and maybe then some since it's been such a clustermess.

Idk if I would say its turning around quite yet. GTM has a reputation to rebuild and that will take some time. It seems they need to up their customer service game tremendously. That will help by leaps and bounds. Its going to take more than getting the MHI group buy finished. Its going to be a difficult road, but it is possible.

I was pondering on this thought the other day. Let's say some how GTM pulls off the 2 year long group buy, finishes everyone's build, squares away money owed to customers for hypothetical installations. Do you honestly think that a reputation this skewed can be repaired? Honestly, I don't think so as they're companies with great customer service and great products, plus no history of sketchy deals. However, I wonder what this community has to say about this? Is it possible because I say no but I don't represent the community. I do sales on forums but it's for the 4x4 side of the world. With that community this would not have been so easy, as they're a different breed of people. So I wonder.

Im also kind of disappointed to see you guys attacking bullitt for simply giving his observations. At no point did he ever defend the actions of Sam and GTM. He stated that he observed the employees at GTM working hard to get things done. Trying to make things right. Im actually happy to hear that. Im happy that the situation isn't what the forum speculators painted it to be. From what you read here you would think that Sam left the country with everything and that he never intended on fulfilling any of his duties. I hope GTM can bounce back from this. Everyone here knows that they have had some cool products and have done some cool builds. Sure they ripped off from CJM's fuel products. Shame on them for that. But they have had some original designs too.

Before everyone pounces on me for "defending" GTM, I was also somewhat screwed over and lost out on $500. Thats no where near what some of you have lost, but I was livid. At this point in time, I don't plan on being a GTM customer, and it will take A LOT to win me back. Im talking a lot. But I hope that GTM can right their wrongs with all of the customers caught up in this crazy situation, step up their customer service, and reestablish themselves in the Z community. Everyone wins with a good shop. Competition is a good thing. Also remember, that its bad stories like these that really make you appreciate a good shop.

I think the things that you listed will just right the wrongs. Their reputation won't be repaired just by doing that, simply because they are/were supposed to do those things in the first place. They are in the negative. Rectifying the current issues won't put them in the positive in my book. They will be set back to zero. Even then, they still have an uphill battle to earn new customers and an even harder obstacle retaining any past customers given their current reputation. It will take years more than likely to be a reputable business again. GTM has a lot of rear end kissing to do with this community. To be honest, Im not sure what they can to do accelerate the process of regaining a positive status. One thing that really irritates me personally are the CJM copies. Even the instruction manual is copied word for word. Personally I would like to see GTM use actual CJM products, rather than GTM branded copies. Charles is a stand up guy who works hard to design and test products for this platform. GTM ripped off of his R&D for a direct copy. It appears to be legal since they are allowed to do this, but it is not the moral thing to do.

First, GTM needs to own up to this entire steaming heap of feces. Sam needs to own up. GTM will not gain any ground with this community without coming on here, admitting that they were wrong, and that they royally screwed the pooch. Issue out a sincere apology. If that doesn't happen, most members here won't give a second look. Even if they do, there still will be some members who won't buy it. GTM will have to prove over time, with over the top superb customer service and top notch products, that they are a company worth doing business with.

Sam, I hope you are reading this and are giving these suggestions sincere consideration.

Now that's a really well response. Thought out and reasonable. Kudos man!

Wasn't trying to offend you JARblue. Sorry if you took it that way. Was trying to make a general statement to everyone too. No one may be promoting GTM but people are still throwing money at him.

My first and only post in the thread.

I read forums the same way I live my life. I take what I think is useful or interesting and leave the rest of the junk. If I don't like what I see/read, I skip that part. People read too much into things on forums.

I have read every post in the thread and some things just seem like simple facts (some personal, some from simple statistics, some from experience). It's entertaining (sorry if it's to your expense).

A good way to learn is from your own mistakes, but the best way to learn is from others.

Have a Good Day.

I don't think the name calling, harassment of other members, and the name dropping should continue. We need to chill out and remember GTM is the only one worthy of the harassment.

I believe that most of us are on the same page here. I don't think that GTM deserves name calling either. I agree with putting out good info AND the truth.

On a side note, I had no idea that they copied Charles designs. Sad thing is everyone knows who is who in this community. How could they expect to get away with sone of the crap that they do. Another shining example of honor and integrity.
