Used to weld cast iron all the time. All alloys. The way you weld it, depends on the alloy. In a nutshell. You V out the crack with a burr bit. Heat the manifold up to temp (depends on alloy on how high). Some alloys, you have to use the backstep welding method. Some alloys you have to peen the weld after welding. You also have to watch your interpass temp. You don't want it to go to high. So now you can wrap the part in Kaowool insulating blank, or oven to slow cool.
