the gtx2863r is very similar to the 2860 down low, the compressor graphs almost match until you get to around 18psi where the 2860 is running out of steam, the gtx has a much higher efficiency range and is capable of safely running 30+ psi which makes it good for about 350whp+ each. so while the 2860 is maxed out to about 600-650whp, the gtx version is capable of pushing over 700, assuming your setup can handle that much boost (compression ratio, fuel, timing etc).

So even with our stage II turbo's it's still about 600-650whp maxed out? Do you know what those turbo's run and do you think my built motor could handle it? If it's only 50 more whp I don't see spending the money...

Managed to get a little work done on it today. I went ahead and took of the exhaust so I could get the drive shaft off. For now I am keeping it in the tranny so the fluid wont come out but I did also disconnect the shifter from the tranny....

You could go with the GTX2867R upgrades and be prepared for much more power than the Stage II GT2860RS. These turbos are rated at up to 490 HP each. They are a direct fit in the Stage II exhaust housings, so all you would need is the compressor and CHRA. I have seen the compressor/CHRA listed online from $1,200 - $1,300 a piece. I plan on going this route if/when I build my motor.

Good luck with the build! Looking forward to final results/lessons learned!

There is always space. If I had a car (customer) here wanting to set recods, I would have nop problems fitting two of these:

It would not take all that much time and effor either, just have to think BP twin scroll kit X2.

The GTX2863r can't run 30 psi safely on our engines ,that's a pressure ratio of 3.0 and 49 pounds per min of air at 7500 rpms. That would be really pushing the turbos it's even a stretch for the GTX2867 r.

A GT35r turbo can fit with in our cars you would just have you use the compact T04E compact compressor housing for it to fit.

Our stage II's must right around 35 pounds per min... Maybe I can squeeze out a few more hp with some other mods... Get it 'SQUEEZE', I crack myself up sometimes!!!! lol

indeed you are correct, on our engines you cant run that much boost. I just dug up those charts I sent you awhile back:

the 2863r is really only efficient to run up to 24psi at 7500rpm on our engine. pushing more boost would be over-spinning the turbo at higher rpm.

the 2867 is a good choice if you want to run a lot of boost, and would still be "on the map" at 30psi in higher rpm's.

looking at the plot you can see the 2867 is generally more efficient from 14psi +, so if you're going to upgrade turbos at all I would skip the 2863r, the 2867 is a great choice.

with all of that said, you can still hit 600whp with your current turbos, a bit more if you dont mind running e85 and over spinning them a bit at high rpm, so it really depends on what your goals are. I don't have the plot for the 2860rs any more but its basically the same as the 2863 except the 2860rs peaks around 2.5 PR and its .6 efficiency island (far right edge before over spinning) is where the .65 is on the 2863.

Awesome nick!!! Just got off the phone with bobby at vsr and he ordered my L19 Head Studs and they are still waiting on those pistons. I think I will go ahead and install the new fuel pump next week just to have that out of the way and hopefully soon phunk will have some of his goodies ready to be purchased...
