I wonder if that is with literally nothing (i.e. pistons, etc). That seems too cheap.

My instinct and listening tells me it's valve noise related, not rods. The timing/frequency corresponds with this (or.... the power stroke). Neither is good, but one is far less costly.
Following this closely. Wishing for better news. Coop

Granted it's hard to compare real life noise vs. a camera phone, but my motor sounded oddly familiar to yours. My motor was misifiring like crazy, but it never sounded/felt like knock. I'll never know...
Good luck with the rebuild.

damn... thats rough man
seems like 450whp has been done by many people. but i guess with yours being awd thats prolly more like 500... wondering what caused it to grenade... seems like hp that a few people are running makes u wonder if it was a tune or a part failure

I think you hardly drove this car since you got the s/c installed. Wasn't it at the dealership most of the time getting the kit function properly. You're giving up too easily on this, try harder with warranty, get some legal advice, make sure dealership and Infiniti knows it.

Wow, sorry to hear about your troubles. Was this directly after the tuning or had you been beating on it pretty good? Wont know exactly until you get down to it, but it'll be interesting to see what let go. Post up pics, good luck!
Thanks, Alex Goodwin AlexG@motionlabtuning.com |

Hey , Alex was about 10 days after the tune, An no I was not beating it, LOL didnt do that before.
I'm a older guy, Wife says I drive like grandma. The the other questioin yes I have bearly driven the damn thing, Bought and had the kit install was complete in Feb this year, Drove it for a few months and the SC issue came up July 7th, got the car back 15 days ago( Been at the dealer since tuesday) An, , ,, , ,, , The car just dumped all over the dealers floor , They confirmed that cyl 3 was junk. Low compresion 172 or something like that. They did not want to deal with the warranty issue so they where trying to have me take the car to Norwood( Where I bought the kit and had the install done) But we all remember why I did not want to go back there. So the the tech started the car put it in reverse and back up and BOOM!! CYL 3 rod blew a hole in the block and hit the floor, On top of that Norwood refused the car ( of course, they where HAPPY enough to take my $9600) But now there are issues again they refused the car, I have been on and off the phone with INF affairs all day. Weird thing the dealer told me they could warranty the engine but I can not reinstall the SC???

I'd say take that deal and reinstal the SC later after the motor breaks in.

Yea something I was thinking about, But going to cost me like 4k to do that, I would have to pay for the stock parts I do not have, Intakes and stock injectors+ all the labor to remove the SC kit, Then have it reinstalled and retuned later. I know its better than paying 9k to fix it on my own but why should I pay anything whem all my paper work says" The installation of the super charger will not void any of the factor warranties". If they really push on that as the only way , I will tell them" Cool Just give me back my $9600 in partd and labor that you dealer talked me into buying by telling me my warranty would not be effected". Thats the thing that really burns me is I really was talking into it. I was at the dealer getting a oil change done, I saw the Stillen stuff everywhere and asked about it. I was also telling him( Chris - Service Manager) about the 281S- Saleen I was looking at plus the possiablity of my using the $9600 for down payment on a SS Camaro or a 5.0. He told me if I went SC on the G and I bought it from them( Stillen Auth dealer) it would not effect my warranty as it would be a Dealer installed accessory, and I would have the same power level and have AWD. I said sure check into it and let me know. He called me back the next day with all the prices and said " Nope , This WILL not effect the factor warranty in anyway". We all know about that and I told him as long as its in writing I will do it. He did I have an issue and not the signed paper work means nothing?

Wow sorry to hear about the misfortune. That's everyone's nightmare with a turbo setup. What I like about my setup is that my car is pretty much "n/a" most of the time since I don't get on it very much. Even if I do, it's usually half throttle. It's enough for a little turbo fun. I'm still scared to floor it in 1st haha.
Hope all goes well and you get the car running again.
