Default Stillen Supercharger

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and it's great to be here! I am a Nuclear Electronics Technician in the Navy and a proud owner of a 2012 Nismo 370z ( 0415 ). I've been interested in getting more power out of my Z, nothing too crazy however... I don't plan on putting 1000 hp in it. Just something around 500 or so. I was looking into the twin turbo route and thought it sounded good. I then saw a video on youtube about the Stillen Supercharger. I could not find any threads on just the Supercharger. If there is one feel free to just direct me to that. My question was, What are your opinions on going the supercharger route over the twins. In the video there was a interview with Steve Millen ( Stillen ) where he says that you can sometimes work with your Nissan dealer to have them installed and they don't void any warranties and comes with it's own. I was wondering if anyone has done this and doesn't regret doing it instead of the turbos. Keep in mind as I said before even if I got the twin turbo I would still only have it tuned for around 500hp, as I don't plan on re-doing all of the frame work to support crazy amounts of HP. So the supercharger would be plenty fine for the power I'm looking for. Thanks!

Im honestly not too sure about the pro's and cons from turbo vs. supercharger but it seems like more guys prefer the turbo's around here. I actually spoke to one of the stillen sales reps in person at a meet about a month ago and he told me that some of the bigger Nissan dealerships WILL install stillen products, and im pretty sure that Stillen has a 3 year engine warranty on their superchargers. I just checked their website tho and it doesn't seem that the supercharger is compatible for a 2012 or a Nismo

True, You are right, I was just assuming that it would work for both the Nismo and the 2012. haha I guess I will need to check into that. So far, numbers wise, the supercharger is around $3000 cheaper off the bat not to mention the cost of the install unless I take it upon myself to install it assuming that the supercharger would even work on my Z. Any idea on what the install/ labor times are for each of the routes?

No I honestly don't, I imagine it would come down to the shop you take it too, and I don't know about you, but if your not super comfortable under the hood, this probably isn't the best mod to learn with, at least I wouldn't. but if your looking to be in the 500hp range, the supercharger doesn't seem like a bad option

I agree 100%, when it comes to it, I do not think I will attempt this myself. :P I would prefer that if I do end up going the supercharger route that I could get my Nissan dealer to do it. If I go TT then I will do some research on shops in my area to do that as well.

Ihave the Stillen on my 11 G37 am happy with it I made 412 WHP with a custom tune. their kit is good ,you will here some different things on here. but I like it, just see my threads on it. Right now .I'm trying to get to 500 WHP out of it with some upgrades but ran into some throttle body issue. I have a ongoing thread 500 WHP.

Two major SC makers are Stillen and GTM. GTM has more power options, Stillen has some Nissan tie-ins. The Stillen tune has had problems in the past but I believe that's been worked out. The advantage for Stillen is that they have a legal CARB cert. If you want that. If you desire more power out of the box, the GTM has a stage 1.5 and Stage 2 kit that make great power out of the box. Many have had their Stillens custom tuned for better results.

If your trying for those 500 at the wheels, your better off going TT. They may cost more up front, but you won't be running as much boost trying to get there. Not only that, there is really no trying to get 500 hp with TT's, it's more so if your motor can handle it at that point. One thing that is nice, is that you have different choices to get there. Just please, for the love of Z, don't go for the Stillen because it's the cheapest, you will most likely spend more money in the long run. Choose Stillen for other reasons such as CARB, or warranty, or because 400-420whp is fine with you. Search the forums in the forced induction section to get a better idea of what it's going to take to reach your goal

I agree with you Firehawk, I wouldn't go with Stillen just because it is cheaper, I meant that Supercharger over twin turbo is cheaper. At least from the research I have done. I do like how the Stillen Supercharger doesn't void the warranty and it is possible to have Nissan install it for you. I was just wondering if people didn't think it was worth it rather than the turbos. I still have to find out if the supercharger is even compatible with my Z. Raymondo pointed out that on their website that it doesn't show that there is one for either 2012 or Nismo.

Just some advice for your research/shopping....take careful note at $dollar per torque gained when shopping for SC or Turbo. There are enough dyno graphs posted on this forum to give you an idea of what kits will do. And if you do go the SC route, then really really pay close attention to those numbers between the different SC kits. Just my 2 cents.

I had the stillen SC and would recommend it, did great for me. If you want the torque though, go with a tt kit.

RCZ did have one but sold it to me. Like others have said before the stillen is a good kit with a aftermarket tune and you will make power, maybe not as much as other kits but then again it is all subjective as to what you are wanting. My personal experience is that the stillen gives you the feeling of a stock ride for everyday driving and then when you want it rev it past 4k and you know you have something extra under the hood. I would suggest it to my friends in fact my buddy is in the process of buying one.

If you end up going turbo, consider the BP single turbo kit as well. It is very DIY friendly when it comes to the install, and will perform as good if not better than the TT kits. Feel free to go though the build thread link in my sig. The prototype made over 500whp at just 8psi of boost, using the Precision billet 62mm turbo and a twin scroll turbine housing. The kit is also capable of over 600whp, without having to upgrade anything on the kit. Of course this is not something you want to do on a stock block.

Starting price is also less than the TT kits, comes with larger injectors, fuel pump and a complete oil cooler kit. If you do get a shop to do the install, it will be a fraction of the cost as well when compared to TT kits capable of similar performance. Maintenance is also a breez because everything is easly accessiblee.

The kit however does not fit the 7spd A/T gearbox, and at the moment is built to be used with the F.I dual 2.5" exhaust system.
