STS 370Z Single Turbo System

No...don't believe everything you read. If look at the pics you will the exhaust runs into the Turbo, so everytime you hitting the gas it's spooling the turbo.

nah, just by looking at the pipings and seeing how far the charged air has to travel to the engine i would assume there would be major lag till it actually reaches the engine.

congrats on the kit though!

Thanks...had it since Sept. love it.
It's not going to beat a twin off the line because it is a single but trust me I thought the same thing until the first time i hit the gas.

I'm not saying there is or is no lag with this setup because I have no idea, but what you said makes little sense. ALL turbos are run inline with the exhaust, just most are on a manifold right near the block instead of downstream. The reason people are wondering if this lags is because it has 3x the IC piping as most kits do

Any increased risk of hydrolocking with the filter being below the body of the car?

No. The air filter has a water sock on it. I've taken through car washes and drove it in the rain. Just every once in while it needs to be cleaned.

@ STS/ Vernon or Marc....Could you please send me the info on the Uprev tune that comes with these kits. I have emailed you but still waiting on a response. I'm going to be taking my car to have it tuned at another shop and he needs the info...trying to fix my hot start issues. Thanks.

lag from piping distance is negated by the cooler, denser air charge created from the remote turbo location. lag is virtually undetectable. plus our engines run such high compression from the factory, it makes the typical "turbo lag" hard to detect anyways

Thumbs up

I'm impressed. At first blush, I was like: "WTF???!! Look at how long the flappin' intake is....! Boost will come on somewhere between 2 seconds or two blocks of target...." After watching the vid, and looking closely at the chart, it's pretty damn good. It makes 300whp at 4400 RPM. Helloooo!! Now who's complaining??

The whole thing appears to smack of home-built mentality, but, truth is, it's out-of-the box thinking. America is good at that.

I wish the purported pricing was less ($8000?), but from all appearances the labor savings and lack of other hardware needs makes this a value.

Good for them. I will be looking forward to some other build threads and performance trials. I ain't looking back, but this ought to increase attendance in here.
