Kit pic is a winner
|
I love the fact that the real little tidbits like the supercharger and bracket are done for you. This kit looks so simple to install, by someone decent with tools that it amazes me.
|
This kit looks superb. I spy the new washer bottle. Question for you Stillen guys: how is the intake situated behind the bumper?

I just went out and snapped a few pictures of the front of another one of the test cars. I'm processing that picture now so you will see the heat exchanger and the intakes. We are going through a third round of instruction checks right now on another vehicle. Now we have had multiple mechanics doing the installs, and verifying our instructions. Additionally, this new car is an out of state car so we are confirming that we are prepared for CA and out of state vehicle's, should there be any differences. You would be amazed at some of the tiny differences we've seen in the past that can cause big headaches! So now we have the kit running on four different vehicle's... Also, one thing that is not shown in this picture is the air filter shield. Just like on our G37 Gen. 3's we have made a hydro shield to protect the filters from water. |
Doh you are right! That isn't the washer bottle. Thanks for clarifying that as I had no idea where the overflow tank was.
Can't wait to see the pictures. |

Hopefully this picture shows up.
If you look to the left you will see the heat exchanger, look to the right, you will see the Y-pipe intake system. |
Thanks Kyle!
I thought I saw a filter poking through your bumper: http://www.stillen.com/media_files/3...ockers_001.jpg |

So what does that have to do w/ the Nylon intake manifold? sorry i didn't read through the 20 pages, and honestly will try to skip most of the meet and "lifestyle" type posts because they are usually a bunch of internet slang, and abbreviations that i don't keep up with enough to understand anyway. lol |

No offense, but why has no one pointed out that not only is this front bumper incredibly ugly but a blatant rip off of the Ventross GT-R piece?? http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/w...ross-gtr_4.jpg |
because it's not... and it's not... and because folks like to have options and this is an option...
more ?'s ? PS nice avatar! :) |
Similar? maybe, blatant ripoff, not at all....
People have voiced their opinions thought and most agree its pretty awesome. |

But, c'mon. It is a rip off of the Ventross. Similar isn't even close to describing those two pieces. |
Oh God. Who let this stormcrow guy back into another Stillen thread? How about you voice your opinion and leave before this turns into a 65 page argument like the last Stillen thread you decided to voice your opinion in.
|
^ I think its perfectly acceptable. He isnt being a complete douche about it... and I don't just mean by his standards ;) I kid I kid. And I agree with Travis, awesome avatar.
I really dislike the Ventross, its too much. I like the Stillen one more because its simpler and doesnt have all those crazy vents and lines everywhere. Its a similar design, no doubt about it, but its simpler. Since you brought up those pictures, the ventross has an opening for the side vents to exit out the side of the bumper, does anyone know if the stillen side vents have an exit into the fender? |
Hey RCZ, I looked up a picture of Mike's car and from that it doesn't look like it vents out of the fender. But I was thinking that if someone cut a slit in the front fender wells it might allow fresh air to cool the brakes. http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/w...4/024577a8.jpg
|
^that picture just sold that bumper for me.
By the way, you'll get a better brake cooling solution with Stillen's fang cooling kit. |
^oh, did it also sell some Rep+ for me, lol
|
Damn Mike's car looks good. Any shots of it just like that but with the hood closed??
We may have to do the old vented wheel well liner mod to get some flow out for cooling and to relieve high pressure areas..something like this...Modshack? http://pages.prodigy.net/phamfam/intercoolervent.jpg |
Hey RCZ, got a couple more pics: http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/w...4/5f675f96.jpg http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/w...4/68a64f26.jpg http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/w...4/d664285a.jpg ^Trailer Queen :supergay: jk, lol

Oh ok, so RCZ are you expected to get your SuperCharger in June? Did you get the carb kit?
|
I'll let Josh or Kyle answer that, I have no idea. As far as the CARB kit, kinda. I'm going to be running a slightly modified CARB kit setup with custom tuning for 93octane gas. I have no intention on being legal in any state...

BTW, it looks like Mike's bumper is doing what my old Stillen bumper did on my 350Z - bubbling up below the headlights in the sun. The urethane is nice since it flexes, but it doesn't take the sun well. |
Yeah, Its very durable for sure and thats one of the things I need with the car being as low as it is. I was planning on having a radiator in the side vents rather than brake ducts. That's why I wanted air to flow out the fender well, not so much to get air to the brakes.
Hmm, I don't like that bubbling up issue at all if thats really the case. My car spends time under the florida sun and I can't have that happen...Maybe Mike can chime in when he sees this. Yeah go take a look at it in person and let us know what you think. I haven't seen it in person either. Sometimes I really like it, other angles not as much. Its the functional aspect that tips the scales in its favor for me. So I'd appreciate an honest opinion about it in person. Gonna go ask in the ZdayZ thread too. |
I saw Mike drive by a few times at ZDayZ... the bumper looks really sweet. It really lengthens the front end of the car.

Stormcrow, I definitely see the bubble, or deflection, now.

RCZ and others! The Audi TT has Louvered fender liners on each side to promote flow through the sidemount intercoolers. The VW boyz used to buy these and cut the louvers out to mount on their unvented liners.... Cost is about $54/side: http://www.koperformance.com/online_...8N0821171B-211 http://www.koperformance.com/online_...art_153192.jpg P/N's 8N0 821 171 B and 8N0 821 172 B here: http://www.koperformance.com/online_...8N0821171B-211 http://images17.fotki.com/v529/photo...louvers-vi.jpg These are flexible enough that they could be pop-riveted into the Z's liners and look pretty factory as the liner plastics are similar.. Another thought would be some louvered Boat vents like these: http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SiteSearch One example...Powdercoat em black! Pages to choose from: http://content.westmarine.com/images...ull/375485.jpg |
Thanks modshack, I think it would be pretty simple to find something to use.
I found these Got S4 Wheel Liner Vents installed...........(Quick Write-up) - AudiWorld Forums I like how big they are and flexible |
