Power from the Z seems to vary with the weather more than I remember before. Some days it is rather anemic. I could be in the market for added power pretty soon. |
good progress Kyle!
I'd really like some more detail on the brake cooling... i'm going to go with a custom job in the next couple days unless you guys tell me you're building a kit... will the brake cooling solution only work with the Stillen fascia? BTW, if you have some of the 'flawed' Stillen fascias that are left over from the 'bad urethane batch', I'd be willing to take a couple off your hands as spares... drop me a PM please if interested thanks |
not sure if this is true or not. Seen a thread on myg37 that Stillen sent out their first kit? Person has 4 posts...curious to know if any 370z got their kits out? because if i not mistaken that is the whole thing Stillen was doing was serving the 370z first right?

Yes.. GREAT NEWS!!!
We are proud to announce that we have begun shipping supercharger systems!!! We started with the G37 7AT cars. We have been able to finalize the tune on the 7AT cars and the instructions for the G happened to be done first. We will begin to ship Z 7AT kits next week and the 6MT and G 5AT kits will be shipping very shortly as well. It took a little while to get some of the ROM's back from customers and they are beginning to come in steadily now. There might be some delays initially on shipping kits due to uncracked ROM’s that UpRev needs to go through and setup. Then we need to complete the tuning process on those particular ROM’s but we aren’t expecting huge delays. REMEMBER, if we don’t have your ROM we’re not going to ship your supercharger! We want to make sure that everything is ready for you before we ship your kit! Look for customer reviews and installs soon!!!! |
Awesome!
Josh, have you tested the installation on a G35/G37 sedan yet? |

As promised, here is pictures of the main supercharger assembly both assembled and disassembled.
We assemble this here at STILLEN, which reduces the labor by easily 2-3 hours, saving you money on the installation. http://www.stillen.com/media_files/s...n_assembly.jpg |
Damn that looks nice! Good to hear things are shipping! Awesome.

How can this easily reduces the labor by 2-3 hours? There is 52 item in the picture. If each item will take a novice (or a retard) mechanic one minute to put together, that's 52 minute. How did you come up with the 2-3 hours? |
if you have an experienced mechanic that charges you for actual labor hours then good for you... not everyone has that
|
I totally agree with you travisjb. An experienced mechanic wont charges you for actual labor hours.
But he would (or should) still charge you for one hour of labor to put together whats in the picture. Because an experienced mechanic would take him under 30 min of actual labor time, and 1 hour that's double the time. lets say he will ask for triple that would be 1:30 hour. 2-3 hour that's a rip off. |
NO mechanic charges 1.30 hours buddy, sorry. If it is going to take them 1.30 hours to do it, they will charge you 2 hours, its that simple. They are not off by saying 2-3 hours, so dont question it. The simple fact that all that is done, helps the guys that wants to install this himself, like me, helps alot b/c its just one piece to install.
|
The assembly you see before you are some critical components, something you want installed correctly.
If you did 50 of these in a row, it would go quicker than never touching the assembly before, and following directions to do so. Installing incorrectly would lead to problems and disassembly. Let's call it 2 hours of labor then.. at an average labor rate, that's still ~$200. Either way, we're doing it for you, it shows up assembled in the box. Just another feature. |
Josh, have you completed the installation instructions? I'd love to have a copy to see what is involved :)
Thanks!! |
Nice touch, last thing you want is some fwit messing with a critical item that means you are badgering manafacturer for issue beyong their control, makes sense.
|
Kit Contents.
Josh or Kyle,
This may have already appeared in the thread, but is my SC going to ship with some kind of shield for the air filters, and what will the replacement engine cover cost. Will the only purpose for the cover be just for looks, or will it serve any other purpose? Thanks! |

Kyle - still awaiting a response to this. Any reason it has been overlooked outside of the obvious? |
Storm, they kinda did address your comment by commenting on the temperatures required to cure the molds. Melting temps are pretty high and would not be reached by normal sun exposure. What it could well be is a combination of everything you and they have said. There is a chance that, as they explained, the urethane they are using is a little bit too soft and with the heat of the sun the material became even softer and more malleable. That, in combination with the fact that one of the brackets wasn't giving the necessary support caused the bumper to warp a little and deform into what you are seeing. They already said they are checking the urethane for strength and they are redesigning the bracket to provide needed support. They have halted production until that's done. Sounds like you are looking for them to admit something based on some cases where it happened. I would think those cases are only a fraction of pieces sold and that many more people have had no problems, you just don't hear people come on the boards and talk about stuff when it does what its supposed to. They are trying to do right by this now and fix the issue before they ship anything else... I've been hanging back on this one and watching; it seems like they are making a reasonable attempt to address the issue like any business would. Not all companies like to discuss everything about their products on a public forum and I'm not surprised they don't considering how easy it is to draw inaccurate conclusions from just about any comment they make.
Just my two cents and happy to hear your opinion too. Nothing wrong with keeping them honest. |

What I think you have yet to realize, RCZ, is that I am pointing out repeat incidents with this company. Nothing that I post here is a secret. Research will show you that. But, this is a new market full of new clientelle. If you are going to peddle a product for bucket-loads of money, especially in this economy, the client damn well better be getting what they are promised. When a company continues to recreate the very same flawed products in market after market...there is a serious issue. And one that we all deserve to know about...especially before we spend our hard earned money. |
Perfectly fair.
|
Storm- There are many reasons I have not directly answered your post and to be honest, this will probably be the last time I do. It's because you are a heavily biased member of the forum and all of your questions/posts are only intended to make STILLEN look bad. Why would I waste my time going back and forth with someone who clearly only has one goal in mind...Whether it is our supercharger, urethane, or anything else you seem intent on tearing it down.
However, for the knowledge of the member's of this forum I will respond to your post. In specific response to the Supra thread. I have absolutely no idea what could have been going on there. As you said, that thread was from seven years ago and it was only one person saying that. For all I know he is in the same boat as you and just doesn't like STILLEN for whatever reason. Or, there could be something with that mold. Keeping in mind that we have sold thousands of those fascia's it could very well be something with the age of the mold. Again, these parts cure at well over 200 degrees. The molds go through quite a bit of abuse through their life and we do our best to maintain and periodically replace our molds as necessary. Moving on to the 350Z however, here are a few threads that might be of interest to some of the member's here: Do these bumpers need a lot of prep work? PIC INSIDE*** - MY350Z.COM Forums OP's opening line: "I HATE fiberglass and will never get myself involved with it ever again but i have a stillen front bumper on my Z now that came with it when i bought it but i dont like it too much anymore because it looks to much like a porche and isnt edgy enough for my taste but the bumper is super strong, has no cracks chips or anything and is super smooth and its urethane. Now i dont know if a lot of work was put into it other than paint work when the other guy before me had it but i just wanted to know if the bumper below would need any prep work (ie-fitment/bodywork) before paint and instalation. now i know its the ing+1 FRONT BUMPER but i found this on ebay with free shipping for $300 and thought it was a good deal unless these bumpers need more work then just paint/bolt on and go... any info would be helpfull. Thanks... " I have no problem with someone not liking the design we came up with...We're not trying to say we're the only option out there, but look at the positive things he says about the fascia. Here is another 350Z thread discussing our body kit: Stillen 350Z Bodykit - MY350Z.COM Forums And some interesting and relevant posts from that thread: MY350Z.COM Forums - View Single Post - Stillen 350Z Bodykit This post has plenty of pictures from multiple angles and they all look like the fascia and other body components fit nicely to me. MY350Z.COM Forums - View Single Post - Stillen 350Z Bodykit This post is from one of our customer's who has had the body kit on his vehicle's (2 different cars) for 13 and 16 years and is very pleased with them. Also, he is located in Georgia which I'm sure you would agree is a pretty hot climate. MY350Z.COM Forums - View Single Post - Stillen 350Z Bodykit Another Series 2 fascia owner and again, the fitment looks good to me... I am not trying to call anyone a liar but I am saying that there are a long list of variables to consider. Who did the installation? How was the installation performed? Were all of the instructions followed from beginning to end including, was the correct preparation done prior to paint all the way to, was a reinforcement bracket removed from the factory fascia to our STILLEN fascia. It is not possible to offer a blanket statement about a particular product because there are just too many things that can be different or can be a related issue. For example, you even stated yourself that you experienced an issue with your fascia but sold the car. You make no mention of notifying STILLEN or asking for assistance or anything... STILLEN has been manufacturing urethane body kits in house for well over 20 years. We also manufacture and private label body kits for some of the largest automotive tuner's in the world. I wish I could disclose the names of some of these other companies but contracts prevent me from doing so. Also, I do take personal offence to someone who makes claims like our design is a rip off of any other companies designs. I was heavily involved in the design of this body kit and I can promise you I had never seen that GT R body kit prior to your post. With that being said, it is very common to borrow lines and designs from other vehicle's and adapt them to work on a body kit. For example, during the development of our Series 2 body kit for the 350Z we actually had a die cast car of a Ferrari 360 Modena in our design studio. We liked the looks of those scoops and wanted to develop them to be functional. So, we made them functional brake ducts. The side vents that you see on our fascia are functional by incorporating oil coolers on the sides. Additionally the center fangs are going to be functional brake ducting as well. We also incorporated a top vent which is a functional "ram air" to our Gen. 3 intakes and supercharger intakes. If someone doesn't like the look of our design, that's fine. Not everyone is going to like the look of every body kit out there...That's the beauty of this business, there are plenty of other offerings... |
Personally I love your Z34 bumper and wish you made something similar for the G35/G37 sedan :D
|
Oh yeah! :koolaidwall:
|
pics dont do the car justice. You need to see it in person. It looks amazing. This is why I bought it. Looks good and I like the bumper. To each there own.
|
Kyle getting back to the supercharger, is there any other support that help to stabilize that lower idler pulley? From the pics that Josh posted it looks like its hanging on some very thin aluminum. Not sure if that's the case or if the bolt actually goes through the bracket and into the engine, or something.

Raise your hand if you're the guy who requested Stormcrow to please step out in the first place.
*raises hand* Seriously, can we keep these things on topic? And stormcrow, please feel free to express any concerns you have, but can you please simply state your experience without being so obvious about trying to bash the living pi** out of Stillen? It really has gotten old and it's nothing but annoying. Most of us have realized by now that most of what you say isn't worth listening to so just shut it down man. |

There are other members on this forum who have indicated that they have had issue with your fascias in the past...in this thread. A lot of people are not as inclined to step up and speak their minds as I am. They don't want to be bashed, mixed in the drama or called a nuthugger of another shop. I, personally, do not care if people bash me or call me a nuthugger. When I close my eyes at night I know that none of that matters and people have a right to the truth. That aside, I could easily dig up many posts stating issues with Stillen products...not only about body parts but about supercharger kits, and other upgrades. I didn't bother to do this, as you did, because I will let others do the necessary research. I am merely pointing out issues that I see as recurrent. I didn't bother to report the issue of my bumper to Stillen because I had spoken with few others behind the scene who had and had zero luck when doing just that. I wasn't going to bother wasting my time. Especially when I wanted another look, anyway. I did, however, report all of my issues with the Stillen supercharger kit for the 2006 Pathfinder and was met with stall tactics and "not our problem" responses. I will say that when the piggy-back that you guys sent took a dump two days after install, I was able to get one via Saturday delivery. At least you guys took my disabled vehicle somewhat seriously. But, the "we will diagnose it and get back with you on what we find" fell through the cracks after I sent the unit back. Still no follow up to this day on what caused it to fail. And, yes, I was truly interested in the findings. One last point - I did not mean to personally offend you, but I must say that your stating you had never seen that GT-R bumper until I posted it has got to be fabricated. Kyle, you are all over NAGTROC and there is no way possible you have not seen threads about or pictures posted of the Ventross body kit. I don't bother with body kit threads and I have seen it. Hell, other vendors even post threads selling them. The fact that you deny ever seeing this body kit before my posting it in this thread speaks volumes about anything you might post to me in here or anywhere else. Let me guess...you have no idea who Soccer Dad is and have never seen the blue GT-R. Good luck with it all, man. Not that it matters to you or anyone else. But you just lost all credit with me. Quote:

I want to stay out of this, but I feel compelled...
Josh/Kyle, you will lose no cred with me if you set stormcrow to permanent ignore and disregard all his posts going forward, esp on this thread... these posts go from baiting to sarcastic to over the top antagonistic, and I struggle to find the substance Stormcrow, some of us want to like you and in fact think you can make valuable contributions to this board... but you're making it really hard - for me at least... invitations for you to come in here and post (from me as well) were intended to generate legit, brief, data-oriented questions, and to improve the quality of this discussion... it was not an invitation to come in and bash and pull things off topic... if you need to vent, maybe get permission from AK to start a dedicated thread titled "rants from an angry stillen customer" |
I should probably just drop this but I do not take kindly to being called a liar. Or to have inaccurate information about me on such a public forum. For starters...I have been a member of NAGTROC for nearly two years. According to my member information page I signed up on July 7th 2008. In those 23 months I have posted 67 times...that is 0.1 posts per day according to their site. I go on nagtroc maybe once a week...sometimes less...I wish I could spend more time there but unfortunately I'm not able to.
Additionally, I have only ever seen one blue gtr. It was a car that was painted by a shop that does a lot of work for us and they wanted to show us the car. That body shop is wet works garage...here is a link to a blog post we did on that car... Blue R35 Nissan GT-R Visits STILLEN : STILLEN unless I'm mistaken...that front fascia looks stock to me...is there another blue gtr that you know of, because that's the only one that I've ever seen! |
I had the stillen front on my 98 eclipse turbo and it fit perfectly! :tiphat:
|
Well I for one was also going to stay out of this but I have become compelled also to speak about this.
First off, and most important I AM NOT BASHING STILLEN, please remember that through out this. Now I don't know storms history with STILLEN or other posts of his where he was bashing them. My whole point is every time someone pops up and says something about a company that is in a negative way there are people that come at that person side ways. Even the people that had problems with forge builds where it was evident by pics that negligence was present there were people saying, here is another person trying to ruin a reputable company. Like seriously gentlemen one thought goes through my mind, and that is WTF. If you paid a person to repave your drive way and you didn't get the quality you deserved for the money you paid, and when you contact them they blow you off, would you recommend them to a family member or a friend? Honestly if you would your a pretty bad friend. To me I am a huge, Huge customer service person. Companies make mistakes, it happens they are ran by humans, but to me its what a company does to rectify the situation once the mistake has been identified. The company that blows me off and ignores my complaint, well I am going to let the world know of there lousy service, period, end of story. Now the company that rectifies it and corrects it, and now makes my concern one of theres, they will have my business forever and will be highly recommended by me. Now I can't speak for storm but this is what I believe he was trying to see. Weather STILLEN will ignore the problems he has stated or would they provide a solution to them. Maybe for alot of you he might have went about it the wrong way and with maybe a little to much force. Like I said though I do not know his history with this company and maybe it was a painful one and thats why he chose to do it. I know he said in his post that he has owned STILLEN products and it seemed like a few. If he had bad experiences with them then I can understand the force that he is using, but that doesn't make him a basher in my eyes. I would believe a basher is someone that never owned a product from the company and ran there mouth about how junkie they are. Some of you are aware that I have spent alot of money on upgrades for my car, about 11,000 worth this month from products from GTM. While I was doing my research on my products and this company I wanted to know everything I could about them and the company, that way I knew I was going to be satisfied. To the people that gave there experience weather it was good or bad I was grateful. As for storm contributing to the form, I have a couple words about that. Every time I asked him a question he gave a straight honest and informative answer. Every time I had a concern, he chimed in to provide assistance and guide me to understanding. If thats not contributing then I don't know what the hell is. You can say I am kissing his a$$, or what ever the heck else you can think off but he always helped me when I had a question and always gave me a unbiased answer and supported it with facts. If there is one thing I learned about stormcrow it is, If you prefer for someone to piss in your ear and tell you it's raining then you just best ignore stormcrow now because he is going to do the exact opposite. I close with this, Kyle good luck with your kit, I hope it is successful for I am sure it took alot of time to produce and it consumed you and your team. The parts being assembled to save your customers time/money is awsome. I love how you thought about your customer in that. Once again good luck with it, and sorry that I added one more post of a off topic subject to your recent success in the production of this kit. Frank |

You can check for yourself on NAGTROC - I have never posted a negative comment about Stillen because I never owned or experienced any of their product for the GT-R. If I were hell bent on bashing Stillen, I would be verbose in every forum...I am not. I have no vendetta against Stillen and it is my opinion that the only people who seem to be saying so are those who really support Stillen. That is partially the vendor bias that I speak of...that which W.O.W quoted me on above. Quote:

stormcrow.. are we done, can we allow this thread to move on to it's intended goal, discussion of the STILLEN supercharger? I think everyone gets it, you're unhappy with us..
I'll work on some updates for the 370Z superchargers today. For those that haven't pulled their ECU ROM information and gotten it back to us, please do.. the faster we get those, the faster we can ship 370Z Superchargers! |

Josh or Kyle, So i got the software, installed it. Did all the updates it required me to, but after connecting it to the car, the software still tells me it's not connected? |
