The ecutek boost control has one major advantage, the built in failsafe's. Since the ecu is monitoring and controlling it directly if anything goes out of parameters the failsafe's can help save the motor.

As for boost response, I never had any issues with both stock GTR turbos, FP greens or GTX2871r's. Granted those were all fairly small.

I am pretty certain the over boost Failsafe can be implemented without using ECU boost control as was the case in my situation. My EBC plastic T-piece melted at one stage, and caused boost to sky rocket, but sebs failsafe in the tune prevented the boost from going over 14psi with throttle cut, which enabled me to identify an issue was present. Took car to mechanic, they found the melted T-piece, and replaced with a metal or some high heat resistant one.

I’m going to replace the plastic stuff with hard lines.
