Ecutek ECU boost control vs EBC

Would like to know which is the better setup and why?

I currently have used a Greddy Profec EBC for a while now, but I kind of dislike it because it seems to me like it does not work properly all the time and in the past has tried to cause boost spikes. Sometimes it seems to work, I can adjust boost levels and see and feel the difference, other times it does not.

I had enough of mechanics having it tinkered with. So am debating to switch to ECU boost control by Seb my tuner.

I tried to research a topic on this but cannot find much info other than someone on these forums saying that Ecutek boost control is not as responsive as an EBC, but another member saying that this is not true and it all depends on the setup and tuner. Well I have one of the best tuners, so having said that, would anyone be able to chime in weather it will be an upgrade in my car's characteristics if I were to go ECU boost control?

I got rid of my Greddy Profec when I recently went from the supercharger to FI tt's. I'm running my boost control through Ecutek. My boost levels are preset by Seb and are changed through my different maps. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by boost control not being as responsive as an ebc

Something about boost response not as quick via Ecutek vs a EBC maybe? I have to go back and find that thread about that topic again.

Anyways, how do you compare ECU boost control vs the Profec? Do you think it is overall working better for you. Appreciate your thoughts, as I am contemplating the switch aswell. About to send seb an e-mail.

I'd be curious to see that thread because I sure don't have any issues with boost response.

The biggest thing I like is that it eliminates a gauge that I don't need (I have a boost gauge) and I can change the boost settings through the steering wheel controls. I recommend it

The ecutek boost control has one major advantage, the built in failsafe's. Since the ecu is monitoring and controlling it directly if anything goes out of parameters the failsafe's can help save the motor.

As for boost response, I never had any issues with both stock GTR turbos, FP greens or GTX2871r's. Granted those were all fairly small.

I am pretty certain the over boost Failsafe can be implemented without using ECU boost control as was the case in my situation. My EBC plastic T-piece melted at one stage, and caused boost to sky rocket, but sebs failsafe in the tune prevented the boost from going over 14psi with throttle cut, which enabled me to identify an issue was present. Took car to mechanic, they found the melted T-piece, and replaced with a metal or some high heat resistant one.

I’m going to replace the plastic stuff with hard lines.
