Well you better hurry up and get to the strip. Justin’s record isn’t going to last long.

LOL, I am in no big rush at all. I need to get out of the blackhole for a while. Sucking the energy out of me.

DCT is actually faster than a sequential. There is a reason Porsche, BMW, Audi and others don't use sequential in their racecars.

yeah I know, I just like it more i guess.

Last year I was buying a Honda Africa Twin (before covid happened)

And I waffled back and forth whether to get the DCT or manual with quickshifter. I know the DCT shifts much faster than any human could. But I ended up deciding on the manual because I thought it would be more fun.

IMHO it depends a lot on the power level. Over 500-600whp, shifting yourself can be frustrating as it really holds you back from getting the most out of your investment into the power, and your competitiveness. There was not a single time I drove my GTR that I wished I could shift the gears manually. DCT I think is equally fun, just in a slightly different way. Its insanely aggressive and efficient, and the shifts are so damn satisfying, you wish you had 20 more to go through.

Hmmm... wonder if this will be legal for GTA street class...

Any idea on weight difference between the 6mt and the DCT?

I don't think so for our cars. You will have to jump limited class or higher. You can't run street class anyway being boosted I didn't think.

I ran street class last year. Power adders aren't restricted (nothing written in the rules against them) Tons of S2000's with superchargers too.

The only thing the rules say for transmissions is "Sequentially shifted gearboxes are not permitted unless OEM. Gear sets are open"

Guess it depends on the interpretation of "Sequential" but my thought is no based on the fact that the DCT can skip gears if you tell it to.

Very cool. I'm going to have to read the rules again. The only deals the fastest drivers are in that group followed by limited class. Cars in both groups would podium in the unlimited class.

Yeah Street class is crazy competetive. I was just over 5 seconds off of Amir in the NSX when it was his first time at the track. I'm not built out to class limits yet either, having trouble finding weight to shave lol.

Its tricky to get a fair weight comparison since we have to compare a bit more than the trans itself. Need to take into account the clutch and flywheel kit on the 6MT versus the flywheel and adapter for the DCT, different trans mounts and driveshafts. I can get numbers from just the trans pretty easy though as I have them sitting side by side on the shop floor and a scale isnt too far away. But my back isnt in the mood to lift them up right now

Completely understand haha would be nice to know sometime down the line. I'm sure the time savings will outweigh the weight tax though.
